The Card Geek's Guide to Kipper Cards

A wonderful book that is worth your time
Kipper cards are, indeed, very interesting! As a reader that comes with a Lenormand background, being presented with this deck without proper information and instruction lead me to treat the Kipper cards as a variation of Lenormand. And I knew this, which made me hit google to try and find information on Kipper and after a couple of weeks I finally found gold.Enter Toni Puhle and her wonderful instruction. With passion and candor she has, generously, shared her knowledge about Kipper cards in her book. With extensive investigation, she has distilled the information she acquired in Bavaria into a very manageable workbook.Pros: Extensive information on all 36 cards with the correct directionality interpreted. The hows and whys of every spread (incluiding the GT). A fun style of reading. Easy access to all relevant information (trust me, you will come back to this book time and time again). You will learn how to interpret the cards correctly, so the need of endless lists on every possible combination of cards is thrown out the window.Cons: Some grammar typos here and there, but it will NOT break the experience. So I am happy I found this book. I think is very worthwhile. I love how it does the Kipper justice as it really has its own personality and it cannot be treated like Lenormand. This is one of the few resources in english, but I do believe this is the one that is worth your time as it brings Bavarian tradition right to your home.

Highly Recommended
I wish I'd had this book 10 or 12 years ago. It would have saved me untold hours typing things into google translate (and Babelfish, back in the day) and going to online forums looking for German Kipper readers. Now the method is all here in one handy book. There is no filler.Kipper works in a much more directional manner than Lenormand does. Facing directions and pointing objects on some cards guide you around the spread. Stop cards do just that, they tell you where to stop. It's like a series of road signs layered on the card meanings. There are no reversals, rather, a card can take on a negative connotation behind a significator's back. All of this is much easier than it probably seems here, and it's all explained clearly. She tells you how certain combinations can work, but she doesn't pad the book with endless combo lists. She doesn't use the book as a platform to push other things she offers - it's illustrated with her deck, yes, but she makes it a point to tell you that if you're using a different Kipper deck and it faces differently, that's fine - just go with the facing directions on the deck you're using. Nor does she tell you that if you want the GOOD information, you'll have to buy her course. (A certain Italian Sibilla book - NOT by Toni - is infamous for doing that.) She's a solid reader, and seems to be a good, honest lady! There are spreads, too, several of them Kipper-specific. And she breaks down the Kipper Grand Tableau and explains exactly how to do it.It's an excellent book, it's fun, and there's enough here to make a person into a competent reader if they will just study and practice. All in all, a very pleasant, honest, and refreshing book to find in this sometimes-shady old world of fortunetelling.

I have the Mystical Kipper deck that I use with tarot to give it more depth, but there's a lack of online resources for Kipper. So while it works fine as a tarot supplement, I wanted to learn the traditional way of reading Kipper. I chose this book because it has many reviews. It does a good job of explaining the definitions for each card. It goes far beyond the LWB that comes with any deck. This is the most helpful because it helps me to understand each card better.Another reason I wanted it is for Kipper specific layouts with explanations on how to read them. It hits the mark. The 3x3 spreads are read differently than 3x3 spreads for Lenormand. The grand tableau houses are also naturally different. But in addition to the two standard spreads for cartomancy, it includes several more which is nice. One thing I've noticed other reviews have a problem with is the writing being crammed and layout of the book. I think it's fine the way it is. It's light reading that is well spaced out - nothing is crammed onto the pages. The layout is very user friendly. For me, the issue is the print job. It's low resolution and this has a detrimental effect on the card images included in the book. They're undecipherable.I would suggest to Toni that in the future, she choose a higher resolution print, even if it increases the cost of the book. She should also offer a Kindle edition of the same so people also have a cheaper digital option.

This book is filled with very useful information that allows the first-time/beginner user to read/decode Kipper cards immediately. This book is definitely reference material and will remain in my collection for years to come as I see myself referring back to it often. I found this book easy to read and understand and would recommend it to others.

A thorough guide into the Kipper Cards
Love the guide so far. Yet, there's not so many examples for card combinations. And the books makes exclusive use of the author's version of the Kipper cards for illustration. Will require purchase of her deck for best results. Graphics are tiny but still recognizable in my eyes. Overall good value of money.
