Bought it as a gift for a niece. It was pretty small. Haven’t asked her how it worked.

I'm not real excited about this being called "girl stem" not sure why a gender needs to specified on a toy. (And to be clear, I am not trying to make this a political statement about gender.) Aside from that, the prices themselves were very small and seemed a bit flimsy. The things the pamphlet say you can build look great, not sure they will look that great in real life. But, my 8 year old niece seemed happy with it. I'm just waiting for pictures of her builds!

I was really so excited to buy this product for my nieces birthday. As an anthropologist, we teach a whole section to our students about gender and sex and of course these types of nurtured gender roles are of central importance. That’s why I take a conscious effort to pick presents that make children use their brains and break free of gender specific actions like engineering and inventing. ANyways, my husband and I bought this product and was so disappointed when it arrived. A few pieces rattling around in an otherwise small empty looking box. It was so sad and disappointing and reminded me more of the “pink tax” as it’s soooooo expensive compared to the amount and size in a “boys box.” Just another way to punish mothers and girls, this product does the opposite of what it set out to do. A bit shameful as well.

Great for girls. My 7 y/o daughter loved it. Her older brother helped her with it and they both had fun putting it together!
