The classic Atari stick with DB9 connector for original 8 and 16-bit computers/consoles.
I grew up on the Atari VCS (2600) so this stick stirred those memories. Pretty much an exact replica of the original though it seemed very slightly smaller than my memories of it - but that could be that when I was gaming with this for 8 hours a day I was a young kid.Just like the original stick, it is very minimalist. One fire button on the top left of the base and that's your lot. Compared to a modern joypad of course it's not just as comfortable as we have come to expect these days but against that it should stand lots of use. Certainly my original CX40 stick that came with my VCS back in the day never broke - unlike pretty much all of the fancy third party sticks that I bought when they started to become available later on in the 80s. It's also pretty responsive with a short throw. If you have retro hardware that uses a compatible DB9 connector like Atari 2600VCS, Atari 8-bit home computer, C= 64, Atari ST or C= Amiga then this is well worth getting. All in all, I can recommend it if you want to relive those retro glory days.(Tested on Atari 800XL)

Looks just like the original but sadly plays like the original
I can't really give four stars as I was hoping for a better play experience than back in 1970. Sadly it is exactly the same as the 1970 joystick but with more supple rubber around the stick.Four stars because it's good. Not five because it is literally the same as the old one! Surely a few micro switches wouldn't of done any harm!

Good for occasional use
Bought this to pair with an Atari ST computer. It feels authentic, just like the ones I had in the 80s. Not sure if this is smaller than the originals, or if I had kid hands back then. Good quality build, I don't think it will break. It does the basic job of moving in 8 directions and firing at something. Not comfortable for long periods of use, but Atari themselves admit this in their marketing copy.Marked down 1 star because it's never been a great design - not good for lefties, and the stick doesn't have very positive haptic feedback. So get it if you need to play a few old games and amuse your offspring (they won't get the nostalgia, and will think having just one button is a bit rubbish).

Iconic Atari Joystick for use with a Commodore C64
Purchased for use with a recently acquired The C64 Maxi (Commodore C64 emulator with DB9 adaptor). Upon first handling, the stick feels solid enough but I will point out that there is a distinct difference in the way the stick feels when compared to the original I owned in the 70'/80's. The original felt like you were making contact with what I assume were the metal plates that were used to create a short on the circuit board when the stick is pushed in each direction. I just don't feel that with this purchase.I have yet to try the stick with a game, but I fear that the tactile feeling I was hoping for from the original isn't here. Without even plugging it in I can sense the difference.I intend to purchase one of the other Atari recreations on Amazon, they are USB unlike this version.

Good for C64s !
Good build. Feels good to use. Although plug is a tight fit on the C64 joystick ports, almost broke port trying to plug in joystick.
