Great product for kids highly sensitive to haircuts!!
My son is autistic and has a VERY difficult time with haircuts! So many sensory issues. We had a lady who did private in-home haircuts with him. We just moved out of state and do not have someone lined up to cut his hair like his precious lady. School starts next week and he desperately needed a cut. So I ordered this. I have zero hair cutting experience and was so nervous! Well, I was able to cut his hair successfully today with this kit! He had moments for sure but overall we BOTH did great!! This will definitely be my go-to in keeping up with his hair cuts!! The scissors were so smooth and the protective guard/ comb made a world of difference. His biggest issue is/ was the hair touching any part of his skin. Which isn’t anything to do with the kit. Just had to wipe his neck and face as I went. The cape was super helpful, however would be nice if I fully covered the front. I laid a towel across his front to help. I would highly recommend this to anyone with a kiddo who has trouble with haircuts!

Best company and product EVER! HIGHLY recommend!
It's taken me a minute to be able to get to this review but I HAVE to write about it because sincerely, not only is this company phenomenal, but now I can say the scissors themselves are phenomenal. I have a child with autism and sensory processing disorder. I've been cutting his hair since he was 2 (now 5 almost 6) and I was looking for a way to get that clipper look without the scary clippers. So first lets get to the company because that is the first thing that happened. When you receive your scissors they include a little card that says to contact them directly not Amazon if you have an issue. Well after some bribery and much needed coaxing that these scissors would make the hair cut shorter to my child (then just turned 5), I started cutting and he cried and screamed saying it hurt. The scissors weren't cutting his hair and instead pulling on his hair. I immediately was frustrated because I was worried it'd be harder to cut his hair now since I couldn't say "haircuts don't hurt" any more. So I decided to email the company with the card given to see what their response would be. Within 24 hours I had a representative contacting me asking me for my address and saying "don't worry about that pair just toss them we are sending you a replacement right now, no extra charge" I was pleased and happy that there wouldn't be a hassle in a return and low and behold I had a new full set straight from the manufacturer within the week! I was very happy with the quick turn around and wonderful customer service and was even offered a free pair of safety scissors to accompany them. But now I had to wait until my child trusted the scissors to try again. Well it finally happened last week! I was starting to cut with my normal hair cut scissors and he pointed to the Calming Clippers and said he wanted me to use those. So I did. Ya'll... IT WAS MAGICAL. I cut his hair in record time and it was easily the nicest looking haircut I've given him to date! I have learned a lot on my own with freestyle cutting his hair and I WISH I had bought this product sooner to make my life easier. Literally could have saved so much time and cuts on my fingers if I had these sooner. So if you are struggling with a child who is fearful of hair cuts and are debating on whether or not to buy this product, I'm here to tell you to DO IT! Even if the first pair is a dud, email the company and they will make it right. Literally one of my favorite products now and I truly believe that this product now has broken my child's fear of hair cuts.

Amazing for toddlers with sensory issues!!!
Absolutly amazed with the results after using the calming clipper on my 2 year old son for the first time!!! My son has serious sensory issues and all but one of his haircuts have been done by me in home because of it. Usually it would take me hours upon hours of starting and stopping with traditional shears to cut his hair enough for it to look somewhat ok. Always a tough time on both of us. I only tried an electric razor once, he had an instant meltdown. The one time we took him to a professional was traumatic for all involved and we decided 1) to never do that again... And 2) there had to be an easier way. I was at a loss, i couldn't just let his hair grow long because he would constantly pull on it the second it started touching his neck or when it went in his eyes. I found the comfort clipper by chance when i searched for "at home haircut for autistic toddler." I'm so glad i did! I was very sceptical at first and honestly it took me a month before finally getting up the courage to use them. We sat in our favorite recliner, i hit play on a video on my phone for him to watch (i could also get him to change position by moving the phone) and set to work. I wasn't worried about making a mess... I can sweep and vacum, already planned on shower time right after. It took me about 1/2 an hour, between getting the hang of using them and going nice and slow for my son. I did all one length for now, I'll go back in with a shorter guide for the back and sides in a few days.... Taking your time is so important to keep the experience as calm as possible. His hair looks great!!!!! For those that find the cut to be very choppy, might i suggest you familiarize yourself with the basics of cutting hair with scissors. I can totally see how it would come out like that if you've never used scissors to cut hair before. My son's hair is completely even (outside of the one spot he wouldn't let me touch today). I love the entire concept, the calmness of a scissor cut without the almost impossible challenge thanks to the guides of trying to get the cut even when your child hates even having their head touched! The only thing i wish were different is an easier way to cut in different directions. I think i might just get a pair of the left handed ones so i can do just that. I need to be able to move around him since he's definitely not going to move for me (i try not to even let him know what exactly I'm doing, for all he knows mommy's just brushing his hair). I'm so incredibly thankful to have found these and i highly recommend them to anyone who has a hard time with haircuts for their children with sensory issues!

Great idea, but unfortunately not for us, and not for kids who cannot sit still
Warning / Disclaimer: Before you buy this, you need to know that this kit has a huge learning curve. It is not as easy as it looks. Honestly, it was so confusing and frustrating that I completely stopped using it after the first attempt because it just didn't work for us right away. Here is my honest review of why we struggled with it, even though it has some good ideas. Harder Than It Looks The main reason we quit after one try is that using a manual clipper is way harder than using regular electric ones. Because it does not have a motor, you have to pump it with your hand like scissors. It takes a lot of practice to get the rhythm right, and my hands got tired so fast. It is definitely not a quick fix if your kid is already wiggly. No Scary Noises, But... The best part is The Quiet Clipper doesn't make any loud buzzing sounds. It is totally silent because you do the work with your hands. This is great for kids who hate noise, but because it is manual, it pulls the hair if you don't use it perfectly. That made my son upset, which is why we ended up coming to a complete stop and putting it away. The kit does come with a lot of stuff to help your kid get used to haircuts over time. Here is what you get in the box: The Manual Clipper: The silent tool you pump with your hand. A Tiny Electric One: A small, quieter buzzer for later on. Stickers and a Chart: A poster to give your kid gold stars for trying. It definitely takes a ton of patience and time to learn how to move your hands correctly while keeping a child still. The Verdict The idea behind this is nice, but for us, the learning curve was just too big. It felt like trying to balance a camera on a shaky tripod while doing a haircut. If you have the time to practice and learn a completely new way to cut hair, it might work, but it was just too much work for us after the first try.

The Silent Haircutting Kit for Children with Autism and Sensory Sensitivity, Right-Handed.
I bought this kit for my son, and it has been a game-changer! He has always been very sensitive to noise, so traditional haircuts would be a stressful experience for both of us. This silent haircutting kit is quiet, easy to use, and designed with children who have sensory sensitivities in mind. The ergonomic design for right-handed use makes it comfortable to hold, and my son actually tolerated the haircut without the usual anxiety or meltdowns. The kit also comes with all the necessary tools, so I didn’t have to buy anything extra. Overall, this kit made haircutting at home a calm and positive experience. I highly recommend it to any parent looking for a stress-free solution for their child with autism or sensory challenges.

AMAZING!!
The last time I tried to cut my son’s hair with regular clippers was a nightmare. I searched Amazon and found these. They are easy to use, even for someone with no experience cutting hair. The scissors are quiet, he doesn’t hear the snipping noise. I wish I thought them sooner.

Good product but a bit hard to use and takes some work.
The idea behind this product is great but it definitely needs a bit of improvement. I got this because my 3 yr old is a bit on the spectrum and has sensory issues and hair cuts for him are a nightmare. My older sister is a hairstylist and she cuts all of our families hair but for my younger son we struggled with full haircuts and even slight trims; he would cry, scream and shake and we felt horrible. She was the one who researched and came across this product and told me to try it myself and if he did good with it then she would proceed to try again this time using this product. I ordered this item yesterday afternoon and got it this afternoon overall pretty fast. I watched the video on how to use it over and over to familiarize myself with it as I was very nervous as I am in no way a hairstylist. One hour later after trying my best with very limited instructions on this product I managed to give my son a decent but not super great haircut;so far everyone has said it looks good considering I did it myself while trying to keep my toddler calm. Some few things to consider are that again the concept behind it is great I love that they designed a product that’s meant to help parents who’s kids struggle with haircuts at a regular salon but I do wish they would have had maybe more how to videos or more thorough instructions. While using the clipper scissors I struggled with two things and that was that the clippers would sometimes pull of my toddlers hair which made it difficult to use while working on limited time since let’s be honest toddlers cannot sit still for a long time; and two is that the hole where my thumb would go on the scissors hurted my thumb and I even had the take the hole guards off to try and make it more spacious and see if it helped but it did not. Now I don’t know if the scissors holes are maybe too small made for small hands or maybe I wasn’t holding it right but overall while my hands suffered I am not mad at how my sons haircut turned out. I do wish I could return this product as it is quite pricey but I will keep them and give them another try. Oh and also I got the scissors that are safety round scissors for trimming around the ears and even though they are round and suppose to be safe they still managed to give my son a small cut behind his ear so not happy about that.

finiky twin, money back guarantee, takes longer but happier kids.
my twin boys are just under 2 years old. One of them is very sensative about things near his head, ears, face and will swat and hit me and yell no no go away while myself, or salon tries to cut his hair. I was looking for trimmers that would be easier and faster and came across these online. on a whim, i ordered them. they arrived faster then they said. I am not a stylist by any means but i have been trying to cut my 4 year old daughter, 13 year old son and twins hair for the last couple years as it is so expensive these days! I sat my less picky twin down and tried these clippers out. immediatly he didnt want the apron on. so i set it aside and sprayed his hair with water and began to cut away. He isn't too fond of the sound an electric razon makes so these less evasive sounding cutters seemed to keep him calm. i had him sitting in his highchair with some board books and goldfish. i am sure he ate plenty of his own hair, but i was able to trim his hair a bit before he ran out of patience. I decided to cut his first to show other brother that it is safe. I got my next twin in his highchair and had him play a toddler game on my tablet as it has noise and would distract him while my 4 year old helped play the game with him. He accepted the apron nicely, to my suprise! I started to spray his hair and he wasnt having it! He began screaming at me no no no go away and so i started to just comb his hair while he played. i realized that the calming clippers have the "comb" size on them and thus i can use it as a COMB...so i would alternate, pretending to comb his hair with a comb, and then switch when his hand was down and quickly snip. pretend to comb...wait....switch, comb, snip. it was a bit choppy as i am no stylist. I wasnt pleased with how he looked at the end, but at least the hair wasnt in his eyes and i was able to on occasion grab the reg scissors and get some around his ears as well as the calming clippers were not in my reach to switch out the sizes when you are in a hurry i didnt have time to switch between sizes so i just went with one size the whole time. i have used it a second time since and watched videos on how to use it and how to cut hair in general. He was much calmer the second time, but still knew i was trying to trick him. however, the second time looked a bit better. still choppy, but i blame myself not the clippers. I did talk to the inventor and they are trying to work on more videos of how to. I am sure if we as customrs post videos, it will also be helpful. if i ever get good enough to make one, i will certainly try!! i was not completely satisfied and they returned my money and are letting me keep the clippers. i am truely very greatful for this! I will attempt a few more times and if it doesnt work out, i can pass them on to a few families i know who have children that probably need these more than myself. i am super greatful for the refund and hope that it is just my lack of knowlege and that it will get less choppy over time. in the meantime, my twins can at least see!! my favorite thing is that the comb is attatched so my twin thinks i am just combing his hair until last minutes when i snip. that right there alone, makes it much more easier. i would recommend these because if you don't like them they do have a 100% guarantee money back. so you don't have anything to loose! i hesitated myself because of the price, but honestly...after the last 2 times i have basically spent the same as i would have if id gone to the salon for all my kids. yes, i have tried them on my daughter who has banks. she enjoys them as its a quick comb and snip and it looks great! no, my finiky twin is not autistic, so i can't begin to know if it will help anyone who has a child with autisim. again, if these don't work for me, i do have two families i know that do have autistic children and i will be handing them off to them. i will update if this happens :)

Game changer
I've been cutting my Godson's hair since he was born, and it's always been a challenge. He moves his head all the time and feels uneasy with the process, trying to leave the chair. This scissors made the process quicker and mistake-free. Even if he moves his head abruptly, the guards won't let mistakes happen. To me, it's worth the investments! You can also resell it after since it's really good quality and probably will last long.
