LIFETIME 60040 Deck Box, 130 Gallon, Desert Sand

Love it!! I would definitely recommend this box. It is sturdy and the top stays up, even in a partially open position. The box is large and fits so many things! We have it outside/undercover and it appears to be weather tight. I’m very happy with this purchase.

I’ve accumulated a lot of outdoor equipment over the years between yard maintenance, camping gear, motorcycle accessories, hauling equipment, and general household storage. I wanted something larger than a typical deck box but without dedicating the space and cost of a full shed. This storage box landed right in that sweet spot. The first thing that impressed me was the amount of storage space. The interior is huge. What started as a place to store outdoor cushions quickly expanded to include extension cords, tie-down straps, recovery gear, gardening supplies, and several items that had been cluttering my garage shelves. Assembly was straightforward and easier than I expected for something this size. Once assembled, the dual-wall construction felt solid and sturdy. It doesn’t feel flimsy or lightweight, and the lid has a substantial feel when opening and closing. The lid design is one of my favorite features. The spring-assisted hinges make it easy to open, and it stays open while loading or unloading equipment. I’ve owned storage boxes where the lid constantly wanted to close on me, and that never became an issue here. The controlled closing action also prevents the lid from slamming shut. Weather protection has been excellent. We’ve had rain, dust, wind, and intense sun exposure, and everything stored inside has remained clean and dry. That’s especially important for some of my camping gear, power tools, and electronics that occasionally get stored outdoors between trips. One unexpected benefit is that it doubles as extra seating when friends and family are over. The sturdy construction allows it to function like a bench, which is useful during cookouts and backyard gatherings when extra seating is needed. The lockable lid is another nice feature. I don’t keep valuables inside, but it does provide some peace of mind and helps keep curious kids from digging through equipment and tools. I also appreciate that it requires virtually no maintenance. Unlike wood storage boxes that eventually need painting or sealing, this one simply sits outside and does its job. A quick rinse with a hose is usually all it needs to keep looking good. The size works particularly well for homeowners who need serious storage but don’t have room for a dedicated shed. It swallows a surprising amount of equipment while maintaining a relatively clean appearance on a patio or along the side of the house. After several weeks of use, it’s become one of the most practical storage solutions I’ve added to my property. Everything stays organized, protected from the weather, and easy to access whenever I need it. For anyone looking to reclaim garage space or clean up outdoor clutter, this storage box offers far more capacity and versatility than its appearance initially suggests.

Used as a dock box next to my boat to store stuff not needed on a given trip. Firstly assembly is really nearly as bad as others have indicated, but the instructions are accurate, there are not many steps, and assembly does eventually happen. The difficulty is in installing the screws into the metal hinges which are large screws that self tap into the metal. You will need a decent wrench to do this or be very skilled and strong if you do not. Seek help if you are not handy with tools. If you are you can skip a trip to the gym. When assembled the box is good looking with a nice finish. The box is pretty big and not heavy. I was a bit concerned it would move if not secured so installed 20lb of dive weights, plus added a lot of stuff to the box. My boat has little onboard storage so I store everything in the box I am not using for the trip. Caution: You must use a lock or something similar or the lid will blow open in strong winds. I wondered why my box kept being moved out of place by 6 inches or so. The answer I discovered was the font of my boat was actually hitting the box and pushing it on the dock as the tide changed, glad I didn't screw it down lol. No damage to the box even when hit by a boat, a solid box, a fiberglass box would probably have cracked. I think this will last me quite a few years.

This is a great sturdy deck box and it stores a lot of seat cushions (we can store all of our 14 cushions of various sizes in the box) for our outdoor furniture, which is what we use it for. It did take about 2 1/2 hours to assemble when it should have taken approximately 45 minutes to do so. The back and front panels took excessive force with a rubber mallet (and two people involved) to push them into the locking positions on the base (it takes a lot more force than the Lifetime YouTube video which shows it done with a couple shoves of the foot - we found it took more forceful, careful pounding with a rubber mallet; but be careful not to damage the locking slots on the base for the front and back panels). There are a number of screw holes missing from the roto molding process by the factory, so be prepared to have and use a socket wrench set, ratchet screwdriver, and cordless drill with socket/phillips/slot screw attachments to create the holes in the four sides, so it can be assembled with the provided screws. The gas cylinders for the hinge assemblies are a nice touch, but we could not get these on tight, so they do work fine but we had to be satisfied with them attached to the bracket somewhat loosely. We like the deck box, it’s sturdy and should last and keep moisture out, just wish the Chinese factory that Lifetime uses had made real “lined up” holes for the screws to go into. I think if this were made in a USA roto mold factory, it likely would have had the holes for the screws. This is yet another example of the Chinese production process making assembly unnecessarily difficult for Americans and the rest of the world.

Needed something to store my generator gas and other misc. items instead of in my garage. After reading reviews I decided on this item. Not disappointed at all. It was easy to put together and only took about 30 minutes. You will want a rubber mallet and you'll want to be careful seating the panels with it as I discovered they dent fairly easily. And as at least one person's review indicated the lock holes in the lid and front panel are different sizes with the lid hole being bigger so I had to use a step drill bit to enlarge the bottom hole a bit so my lock would fit through it, but this is minor. Now, how it will hold up in the scorching Houston sun is yet to be determined. But, overall so far I'm very happy with it. It has a very large capacity. As you see in my pics I have 4, 5 gallon gas cans, a 2 gallon can, my small Weber grill and other items and still have plenty of room.

Easy to assemble- once I adjusted for inadequate tools. [ Note: make sure you have Drill adapted Sockets in all sizes, especially for driving screws between stability bar & lid. I drilled pilot holes after attempting to use socket wrench by hand]. I also struggled with the bolts that connected the lid hinges to the body. Otherwise the instructions coupled with video instructions made assembly of breeze. I read many reviews and took the advice others gave went from their experience. Deck box holds a lot and I'm looking forward to having my bird seed and cat litter protected from summer monsoons. Also of note, this is a lockable box but the holes given only accommodate a substandard padlock. I plan on drilling a larger hole so I can employ a robust padlock since this deck box is on my front porch for the world to see.

Fantastic storage box for the deck. This is my 2nd one from Lifetime and I couldn't be happier. I got the big one about a year ago and was blown away by the build quality and size and it still looks brand new. I decided to replace my other cheap, low quality top level deck box with the smaller Lifetime box and again, the quality is just incredible. Built like a tank and looks great. Highly recommend any products from this company. You won't be disappointed!!

Haven't been this quick to write a review needless to say I really like this product right off the bat. I got this a couple of days ago and put it together yesterday. Being a new pool owner we needed something to put some of the pool items away from the elements. This seemed to me a good choice as far as size and price. It is plastic which I'm not really a fan of the look but for the most part we just needed it to be functional. I bought a cover to go over it which keeps it water proof and it actually doesn't look that bad. I have put together many, MANY things, from exercise equipment to shelves to desk etc over the years. Obviously this is a box not much else to say it should be easy to put together. With the way they design these things and the hardware that you get to hold it all together it seems that it wouldn't be very durable. All the bolts screw into the plastic but all the joints and lid seemed to match up and seem solid. As long as you don't over-tighten the bolts all is good. Having all the sockets and box wrenches helped, a decent tool box like the Stanley 145 piece set from Walmart that I bought a while back was really handy I used it more here that I have since I bought it. All the panels are light weight and easy to move around it says that you need a rubber mallet I didn't have to use it all the piece easily fit together with a little force. The hinges have a very simple air cylinder that seems to work well, I would say that would be something to see how long it last but it does seem solid and the hinge as a whole works well. Overall it very easy to put together with the proper tools and seems like it will last. When you put it together as the instructions say you put the walls together first and then work on the lid and hinges. If you put the lid on the box walls it will get it off the ground to make it easier to work on, just a tip. Also when putting on the hinges the lid will not stay up if you don't have someone to help hold it up you could use a wall to prop it up. Now the size. This was the largest box I could find for the cheapest amount of money. We don't have a lot stored in the box. In all we have two fold up gravity chairs, three pool noodles, goggles, snorkels, diving rings and two pool floating chairs that are full of air but can fold up enough to shove in there. The goggles and small stuff doesn't take up that much space so there is room to put a few more small stuff. The chairs have to be leaning to the side to put the lid down but the noodles go in the little void they make. It's pretty easy to get what you need in there, it's not a lot but enough to keep things protected and out of the sun and rain. My pool and that side of my house faces south so it's in the sun all day. Any chair or items lying around with no protection will get baked. We have a large pad of concrete around the pool coming up to the house so there was plenty of room to set the box next to the house with no issues being in the way. If you have a deck around your pool or are placing this inside a garage it's about the size of a large freezer chest so it will take up some room. Along with buying this is I bought the cover to go over the top of it to make it water proof. I'm sure that this box would be water resistant but not to sure if it would keep out a heavy rain. The cover was $30 which in total still makes it cheaper than the rubbermaid box that is the same size. The cover is a perfect fit and with drawstrings on both sides and elastic at the bottom so it will stay on. In all I would highly recommend this box for storage and would also recommend getting the cover if you need it to be water proof. This could also be used as a table or a bar like area to put your spread of food. Overall this was a great purchase for our needs at a great price.

Arcón de calidad, la instalación no es "click - clack"... pero tampoco es difícil su montaje. Requiere de algunas herramientas básicas... pero biene todo muy bién detallado y explicado. Incluso hay vídeos en Youtube de como se montan. Una vez montado es robusto y se ve de muy buena calidad.

Coffre de très bonne qualité, parois épaisse, seul bémol pas étanche, mais un joint en silicone a l'intérieur et c'est top.

Perfect but was missing some screws, two

Ich brauchte eine wetterfeste Box für meine Sandfilterpumpe, die Größe und Doppelwandigkeit kamen mir ideal vor - also bestellt. Die Box kam in wenigen Einzelteilen mit einer sehr ausführlichen und bebilderten Anleitung an. Der Steckmechanismus ist gut durchdacht, man braucht für den Zusammenbau aber schon einiges an Werkzeug (Ratsche mit verschiedenen Nüssen, Schraubenzieher, Hammer (nur für 1 Vorgang). Die vier Wände mit Boden waren in 5 min zusammengesteckt, aber der Schließmechanismus mit Gasfeder erforderte einige Steck/Schraubarbeiten. Es hat sich gelohnt: Die Box macht einen superstabilen Eindruck, der Deckel schließt passgenau und satt, ist nur mit etwas Kraftaufwand zu öffnen (Er schnappt praktisch ein). Ich musste dann wegen der Fremdnutzung (Pumpe, Schläuche) leider an 2 Stellen Löcher schneiden und das tat mir wirklich leid um die schöne Box. Interessant beim Zerschneiden: Die Wände sind wirklich doppelt und mit "Verstrebungen" stabilisiert. Ich kann die Box wärmstens empfehlen und habe mir noch eine zweite für die eigentliche Nutzung bestellt.

Diese Box ist einfach toll. Sehr stabil sehr schön in der Ansicht und die Qualität ist ausgezeichnet. Diese Box kann ich sehr empfehlen, nur die deutsche Beschreibung fehlte. Aber sie wurde mir trotzdem sehr schnell und gut aufgebaut.
