Happy, if not ecstatic.
Works fine for playing cds, and ripping them onto my hard drive.Disappointed I can't play studio/commercial dvds without getting an app other than what is already on this (new) laptop. I'm not prepared to shell out more money to buy an app, and I'm not sure I can be bothered tracking down a free one, which undoubtedly still wouldn't make it a multi-region player; all PCs give you that guff about only being allowed to switch region 5 times, in my experience. Despite the assertion in the description that it is 'the latest' model and is for W10, that OS isn't actually listed on the box. The instructions are extremely brief and barely intelligible.I feel as if I could maybe have got the same thing for less money - but I could be wrong, the cheaper one may not be identical. I'm happy enough, anyway - this item does work.

Good little USB powered drive, not great if you need really fast read and write speeds.
For the price and the size of this drive it's spot on. The only problem I had was the read and write speeds, I was hoping for something a lot faster to replace my old external mains powered drive. Unfortunately this falls short in that regard. (The speeds were clearly on the product page, but I over looked it, so that's my fault)The disc tray itself doesn't feel very rigid, so be careful if you're out and about. Sometimes when I go to close it I feel I might break it.However, my issue with speeds is to do with burning DVDs and Ripping them; For everything else such as getting files off of CDs etc you can't fault a USB powered disc drive. Very handy, compact and portable.

Fails with numerous music discs
I bought this in March 2017 and use it rarely.It looks great and feels solid. However, I reckon on average it doesn't read about 1 in every 3 discs I put in it. Disappointing as I can't get a refund now.Versiontech, if you can help I will happily update this review.

External cd player.
I had one of these from a top brand name and it was useless as it was only copying a few songs from a full album and was always stopping.I decided on this after good reviews and up to now i have copied around 6cds to my laptop with no problems at all.It connects to the laptop easily and is very quiet in operation.I would recommend this as an excellent buy.

Perfect for my Mac
Hooked up right out of the box to my Macbook which didn't have a CD drive. Has done all I wanted it to do, i.e. view old CD photo albums, and watched DVD. Eject button has tendency to stick sometimes, but not too much of a problem for me.

Doesn't work
This came with no instructions and never worked on either a Mac or Windows laptop. Tried every site to get help and nothing works.
