This is a large flash drive that plugs into the USB-A port and is shorter than your pinky finger. There are smaller ones, but they are pricier and the child will most likely lose them if it is TOO small. No, it is not solid-state drive (SSD), it is a flash "pen" or "thumb" drive from a reputable brand. Most school things are submitted on the internet cloud nowadays but I rest easier knowing that the child has this; it is large enough that I can claim 1 Gb of it to put down an encrypted container with important information (insurance, etc.) and they still have room for music and videos, should they visit a friend that doesn't have streaming but have a computer. They can also save their homework files on it as a backup copy, should they remember to do so.

Ya, read speed is fast, but nobody really cares about that. Write speed is slow, but I think that's really just based on usb 3.2; usb 3.0 is almost unusable for large writes. As the tech gets better write speeds will increase. It gets hot, but still works, and cools down quickly. For now, this is about as good as you can get.

Take 3 hours to transfer 9.38GB! Too slow! I paid more than $60 for the 400mb/s, so it should just take ~ 23s no? This is not true at all, i’m not happy with this purchase, shouldn’t lie about the product!
