It holds light objects and is pretty small but it holds my phone and a bottle of water so if does what i need. Love the slits that hold cords. *update* constantly have to put it back as it always falls out if the bed moves any. Gets annoying. I was struggling looking for an affordable night stand which can accommodate the bed drawers, and in desperation, I started looking into wall mounted one, which I'm not a big fan of. Good thing I stumbled into this urban shelf! It's beyond perfect for what I needed a night stand for: resting phone, remote controller, and drink. No drilling, no assembly, and not taking up too much space. For my case with a bed drawers, this is just I was looking for. Not to mention that it is cheap compared to a basic night stand.I've had mine for 2 months and had no problems so far. I was concerned about how much weight it can hold and how sturdy the flap stays, so for the first couple of weeks, I didn't risk putting any drinking cup on it. Recently though, I tried putting a 30oz cup (Starbucks' trenta plastic cup) and it actually holds just fine (along with 3 remotes, my heavy phone, and a ceramic coaster), but since it's so close to the bed, the chance of knocking your drink over is quite high. Keep in mind that my mattress' bottom is lower than my bed frame's top, so maybe that's where I'm getting better leverage. If your mattress is at the same level with (or higher than) your bed frame, I would recommend that you test out the sturdiness first before putting anything heavy on it.
