Design Toscano Silas the Gargoyle Sentry Statue: Medium

This company is wonderful to work with. Our Silas arrived damaged and the company did everything to make it right. I highly recommend Design Toscano. The damage occurred during shipping, which I am surprised occurred given how well it was packaged. But they make a good product and are an ethical company.

This is probably one of my favorite things I have ever bought. It looks amazing sitting in a recessed cubby hole above the hallway. The 24" one is huge. I think the description said it was 19 lbs. I don't believe it is much more than 10 lbs. I lifted it with one arm and used a 2 step stool to get it up to ceiling level. When I first unboxed it, it actually gave me the creeps a bit. Just what I was looking for. Amazing detail. Shipped with styrofoam to protect it. Arrived in perfect condition. A bit expensive. Probably would have been priced well at less than $100 instead of a hair over $200. Don't regret it one bit though.

Silas arrived on my doorstep undamaged and greeted me with a fierce stare. He is quite handsome, with stoney grey skin, wings and claws. The details are exquisite making him appear as if he's truly carved out of stone. I LOVE him. Alas, I was disappointed that he wasn't bigger. Even though the product dimensions CLEARLY state that he is only 4 X 4.5 X 7 INCHES tall I was expecting something more "life-size", as in 6 to 10 feet tall. After all, his official title is "Silas The Gargoyle Sentry Statue" so I was expecting to use him as a home security system. And seriously, you can't really expect to frighten away thieves with anything less than a 6 foot tall monster! But he is awfully cute, so I will keep him safely tucked away on my mantel where he can keep and eye on my little dog. And who knows, maybe he'll grow! (Authors note: Just in case you didn't get it, I'm joking. I just got so tired of reading negative reviews for these tabletop gargoyles from people who didn't take the time to scroll down and read the product dimensions. And when I got to the reviewer who was so angry he threw his poor little gargoyle in the trash because it wasn't big enough for him to mount on his chimney, I just snapped.)

I took off one star because his tooth was broken off but I kept it because it wasn't too noticeable. Other than that, it was awesome. I like that the rock is a different color and the detail in the gargoyle is really nice. For the price, it's a great deal.

Love this gargoyle! The detail on thie piece is beautiful and very impressive. It came very well package, protected and was the size and quality I expected. If you're expecting a heavy staue, that is not this, as it's made of resin and not cement. Thatt being said, it sits sturdy so wouldn't get knocked over by typical everyday wind if you place it outside, but a strong wind probably could. Very happy with the purchase!

Everything I've gotten from Toscano has been gorgeous, and this is no exception. The quality, craftsmanship, weight, design, and aesthetic are all on point. Silas makes a great addition to any bookcase.

Really nice but small

Works most of the time, but not always. Had a few occasions where it didn't perform. Bit unreliable. Consider this review.
