Poor quality build
Beware!!!! One drop and done! 3rd one and same issue! Every time you press start only works 1 out of 10 times! Loose interior parts loose connections bad design for so much money!

little disappointed this is the second one I bought on here and the back ground light doesn't light up you can still see the read out , I think next time I will buy it direct from the manufacture , More money but life time guarantee,

Atago Refractometer -- easy to use, rugged Worth the price
When compared to optical refractometers the digital Aptos refractometer is great. It is fast to zero with plain tap water. It reads BRIX quickly and readings are consistent. I am an organic farmer and use it for measuring Brix in vegetables and fruits. Highly recommended for the price.

easy to calibrate, no guesswork. used it on my reef tank.
worked as expected on me reef tank. Below is the hard to find info for brix to SG for reef tank salt water, not other liquids. ppt, brix, specific gravity 31 ppt = 3.9 = 1.0233 Sg 32 ppt = 4.1 = 1.0241 Sg 33 ppt = 4.2 = 1.0249 Sg 34 ppt = 4.3 = 1.0256 Sg 35 ppt = 4.4 = 1.0264 Sg 36 ppt = 4.5 = 1.0271 Sg 37 ppt = 4.7 = 1.0279 Sg

I am very pleased with this digital refractometer
I am very pleased with this digital refractometer. It is much more accurate compared to the "flap" type and far easier to use and clean. I like the fact it compensates for the temperature which is displayed on the read-out. Well designed and well made.

Works as it should, easy to read
Works just fine and much easier to see than the prism kind! No guessing if its 20.2 or 20.4brix. Wouldn't like to carry it in the field as it seems that it may not survive too many falls. I did drop it once and it survived but I think I was lucky.
