Ronson 41804 Pipe Lighter Blister Card

I have seen some low reviews of this lighter. Mine is perfect. This is not a "torch" lighter. It is for pipes. You want a soft flame. Not something that will scorch and burn your favorite briar pipe. This is not made for cigars and other products that require a torch like flame. The included tools are solid and compact. They are totally adequate for the job with smaller bowls. For deeper bowls, it might be difficult to reach the bottom with the scraper but for pocket/standard pipe shapes the tools are solid and do the trick. I had some Amazon rewards points so this was only 4 bucks for me. I am very glad I took the chance after reading the horrible reviews. The flame adjustment worked fine. (Again, it's not a torch or a flamethrower so it's not going to shoot out in a blast). I actually had to adjust it DOWN a little bit. It was easily done. Don't get distracted by the Phillipes head screw on the bottom, that is NOT the flame adjustment. Use a little flat head on the ring surrounding the fill valve. Make not of the +/- direction and only adjust within about 90 degrees. No need to try to turn it all the way around 360. You will strip/break it. This product is made by Zippo. Mine came from their China factory. I am super pleased with this purchase. I have a Xikar with tools built in that was more expensive. I am using this one as an EDC pipe lighter.

From the get go, it had problems. It took a couple of clicks to light and the flame adjustment sucked. I've only had it about 4 months and now it won't light. It gets gas and ignition right over the flame source but won't light. I bought a unknown name brand similar to this one and it's a better quality and works great. Don't be fooled by name brand like I was. Sucked, don't buy !!!

Just received it today. Feels heavy in the hand, refillable, and so far has lit every time I pulled the trigger. The on-arrival flame height was just right, but I can't get more than an inch or so when adjusting it higher. Not a huge deal, but would be nice to go a bit higher if I needed. I haven't used the tools yet, and honestly probably won't unless I can't find the normal pick and tamper I use. I mainly bought it for the angled flame, ability to refill it and the low price. All and all a decent refillable pipe lighter so far for $11, and if I had to replace it with a new one in a couple months, I wouldn't be too upset. Only time and use will tell how it works out. UPDATE: A week later and I was able to adjust the flame higher than as was set by the factory, and its much more enjoyable to use. This can be performed by adjusting the small metal piece that stops you from turning it too far counterclockwise (higher flame). 1. Remove from case - Remove the guts of the lighter from the case by removing the single screw at the bottom. Retain for reinstallation later. 2. Remove the plastic refill valve cover - There's a small black plastic piece that covers the refill valve. Remove with tweezers or a finger nail if you have them. Retain for reinstallation. 3. Remove rubber retaining ring - Remove the small retaining ring that keeps the stop in place. Retain for reinstall. 4. Re-set flame level stop - Below the plastic cover and rubber retaining ring is a small semi-circular metal piece that sits and gets caught when turning the level up and down. You can see it work by turning the adjustment clockwise and counterclockwise. Remove this and then re-set it to the other side by rotating it clockwise and reinstall. Once performed, it allows the adjustment to turn counter clockwise just a little more, which gives you some additional adjistment in the higher flame range. Make sure the stop is reinstalled afterwards! 5. Reinstall the rubber retaining ring and then the plastic refill valve cover 6. Reinstall guts in case - Place the guts of the lighter back in the case and reinstall the screw at the bottom to keep it in the case. Done! You now have more adjustment in the higher range.

I love this thing! Great multi-function lighter with adjustable flame. It lights easily and consistently and has a great look and feel. Update Feb 7, 2023, after 2+ years of use. It's just now starting to need an extra click or two to light once in a while. I'm ordering another now!

Lighter completely filled only gives you a 1/4 inch flame. Will not adjust. Totally unacceptable for a pipe lighter. Any breeze and it will not light. Do not buy!!

The flame didn't work when I got it. Filled it up. Took it apart, modified the adjustment screw so the former maximum was now the minimum. It works. The tools are built so that it is a little akward to use the pick or spoon. When lighting with a small flame, I found it helps to hold the gas down for a second before going the ignition "click". When the lighter is lit, the flame continues to grow for 5 or 10 seconds, resulting in unpredictable flame size.
