The Big Book of Knit Stitches: Cables, Lace, Ribs, Textures, and a Whole Lot More

I like this book a lot. The pictures are clear and give a good impression of how the stitch will look. The instructions are clear and the glossary and such are helpful, though I'm more likely to just look that bit up online.I'm glad I have it and it is decent for the price.But the order the stitches are listed is weird. Cables and Twists are at the front, followed by Knit & Purl textures. As a beginner, I want and need the Knit and Purl textures first before I start thinking about cables. Ribbing should be second, not last, followed then by the Cables and Twists and Lace and Open Work should be last.Beyond that, stitches that are similar aren't placed next to one another and this was also annoying and perplexing. For example, why isn't the Diagonal Knot Stitch right next to the Star Stitch. They're visually nearly identically and so if I'm trying to pick something out I need them next to one another to compare. This happens all over the book.

I liked how many stitch patterns are included. I wish there were some flat to circular conversions, so I wouldn't I have to do it myself.

I borrowed this book from the library. I found a cable stitch that I was looking for. It has enough to keep me in stitches (ha ha) for a long time. I LOVE THIS BOOK.

I am glad I got this book. I have another book of knit stitches, and while there is a little bit of overlap, this book has stitches the other one doesn't and that is helpful. I have several stitches I want to try marked and I can't wait to try them out.

There are mistakes. One particular is the 13 stitch claw pattern which is listed as a 4 row repeat. - I couldn't figure out why I couldn't replicate the pattern. Turns out it should be a 6 row repeat... and I've found other such problems. It is well worth your while for generating pattern ideas and the pictures are top-notch. I don't recommend using it as your only resource. I also don't recommend beginners start with this as they will become quite lost!

Have been knitting for over 60 years and got this to find a pattern to chear up a plain jumper pattern. I knew a lot of the patterns but still found lots of new ones. Good library for ideas

Yes. It is a book I had years ago and lost in a move. Glad to have it again. Great book.

Beautiful patterns, really great for planning projects, however I wish it would tell you which projects are reversible (meaning that the pattern looks the same on both the right and wrong side). This is important for blankets and scarves.

I am so happy with this book. I was overjoyed to learn i could get it because it is not available at this time. Very instructive and easy to follow. I would so recommend to take the extra time and find this book.
