This adapts a UK appliance to a US 220VAC outlet.
Should you find yourself in the US, needing to plug in a UK electrical appliance to your existing 220VAC outlet, this adapter will do the trick.

Works for adapting
I needed an adapter to be able to plug into 220V socket where I had a different plug than socket. This served the purpose. Note: it is not a converter.

i wish i didn't have to buy two of these
I bought this in order to plug my english teakettle into my american 240V nema 6-20 receptacle. It does the job! And if you have an electrician coming anytime soon, I highly recommend you have them install a 240V outlet on your kitchen counter. English teakettles work on american 240V current, and they heat up water three (not two as I'd expect, but three!) times faster than american kettles. This is rated 15A and the teakettle has a 13A fuse in the plug, so it shouldn't be starting any fires. Only downside is this seems to be the only version available on amazon and it comes in a 2-pack. I would happily have paid 2/3 the price for 1/2 the contents :) .
