Product Description "I was born under unusual circumstances". And so begins The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: a man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. We follow his story, set in New Orleans from the end of World War I in 1918, into the 21st century, following his journey that is as unusual as any mans life can be. Directed by David Fincher and starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett with Taraji P. Henson, Tilda Swinton, Jason Flemyng, Elias Koteas and Julia Ormond, Benjamin Button is a grand tale of a not-so-ordinary man and the people and places he discovers along the way, the loves he finds, the joys of life and the sadness of death, and what lasts beyond time. .co.uk Review The deservedly multi-award nominated The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button sees David Fincher team up with his Fight Club star Brad Pitt. Pitt plays Benjamin Button, a man born in an old peron's body who in turn ages backwards. While the premise may seem a little mind-boggling for some, Eric Roth (the writer behind Forrest Gump) and Robin Swicord's adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's short story is poetic, epic and intimate all at once. Critics have moaned about its length, but for the story and the characters to become a part of you, this film could not have been any shorter. The Currious Case Of Benjamin Button is a magical tale about love, understanding and acceptance, all themes ridiculously relevant in our time. Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett's chemistry lights up the screen. Together with Fincher and the outstanding supporting cast (inlcuding Tilda Swinton, Oscar nominated Taraji P. Henson and Julia Ormond), the tale of little Benjamin Button is uplifting and original. Giving away any scenes or technical effects would be ruining the magic. --Jennifer Kilchenmann

Did I tell you I've been struck by lightning seven times ?
I didn't think I would really like this film before I started watching it , but by the time it was over I had it marked down as one of the best films of 2009. This film is entirely captivating, almost magical, the cinematography is beautiful and the make up remarkable. The acting by Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett is quite superb and all the characters in the film are well rounded and the viewer can empathise with them all. There is precious little nastiness and evil in "Benjamin Button" which is a story about love, family, destiny and growing old. Brad Pitt plays Benjamin Button who is born old but grows younger as time passes. His father abandons him at an old peoples home when he sees his baby's wizened, aged face and body. He grows up and becomes a sailor , having an affair with a married diplomat's wife played by Tilda Swinton in Murmansk. However he is besotted for most of the film with Daisy (Cate Blanchett) who he first meets as a 5 year old and she turns out to be the love of his life as they grow old and grow younger respectively. They meet in the middle,so to speak, and have a child together. Throughout the film there are flashbacks to the present day as the dying Daisy gets her daughter to read from Benjamin's diary to her in her last hours of life. "Benjamin Button" is a quirky, but powerful and poignant love story that doesn't last a minute too long at a running time of over two and a half hours. It's a must see.

If you loved Forest Gump
Similar in lots of ways to Forest Gump, this charts the life of a man born an old man, getting younger as he ages and the lives he affects along the way. He's not affecting history as in Forest Gump but the reluctance of the romantic character to become involved and live a carefree life and the power of the mother figure are similar. I loved this film because it felt like a Pat Conroy novel in that it is almost lots of little stories interconnected by a common thread. It is like sitting down and having someone spin you the most fantastical stories and being captivated as you listen. For once the special effects in the movie industry have been made to tell a story rather than create aliens or fights and they are excellent in this movie.Obviously this is partly fantasy so you have to suspend reality a little bit in your mind instead of asking "so how does he go to school?" or other practical questions. This film has it all, family, acceptance, romance, tragedy, comedy, discrimination and tears. Yes, get tissues at the ready for this one.

What a wonderful film!
Well to start off I must say what a great film. Didn't expect much from this at all but I was blown away by the way the story unfolds. There are so many standout moments in the film but the ending has to be one of the best endings I have seen to a movie for a long time. The way it pulls at your heart strings. I think that everyone should watch this movie, it won't appeal to everyone but if you like good movie-making at its highest quality then please watch it. I would easily put this in my top ten movies of all time. I haven't seen a movie as good as this at the cinema this year and quite frankly a lot of the films this year have been very disapointing in the extreme such as Wolverine! This is also another showcase for how much better Blu-Ray is compared with DVD. The picture quality is superb and the sound also is brilliant. The extras on the disc are comprehensive in the extreme and I just think that you should buy this!! An incredible film buy it!

Okay
Film was not for me. Bit boring. Glad I only paid £1 for it.But the DVD itself was good and arrived in one day with Prime. Better than a lovefilm rental service any day.

Beautiful
This is one of the most moving and engaging films I have ever watched, a film that can make you look at your own life, and appreciate it for it's pain as well as it's pleasure. It's not an easy film to get into, the opening sections are a little slow (and with so many modern films the dialogue sometimes buried) but it's worth sticking with it to follow Benjamin's life lived backwards. That premise seems to be a problem for some, there is an explanation of sorts in the film - this clock running backwards - but actually IT DOESN'T MATTER WHY HE IS LIKE THAT! It is a dramatic device which allows the story to take a different perspective on life, death and and all that happens in between. I found that enthralling, and the central love story captivating, the whole thing ultimately immensely moving. An outstanding film.

Simply amazing!!
I have never cried at a film in my life until this! The story line is something else. Never seen a film like this before. It is the work of a genius! I bought 6 copies of the film the very next day for Xmas gifts. All the cast are certainly at there finest in this movie. A brilliant emotion trip as it has you happy, sad, envious, jelous and glad at some point during the film. It is a long film but that good it does not feel anywhere near as long as it really is. The only tiny down fall is a slow start to the film. Not much happens for ten minutes but I suppose those ten minutes are crucial to the rest of the film. Suitable for teenager to OAP. Can not recommend this film enough!!

Fantastic
I just watched this film and found it to be thought provoking and thoroughly enjoyable, anyone whoom wonts more than a string of shootings and explosions will also love this film. And at around six fifty this is great value for money as its 2 hours and 32 minutes long, some think that makes a film laborious however this film could have been twice that length and i would still have sat spellbound. Its beautiful compelling and tragicI hope to be seeing many more films of this calibre but doubt I will. But then again .... you never know what lifes got in store for you.
