Very light, comfortable, easy to grip, sweats a whole lot
I bought this new Stanley canteen because I don't have the grip strength to manage round 32oz water bottles any more due to carpal tunnel. This canteen sweats a lot because it's not insulated. So, even though the shape is easier for me to hold, it does get pretty slippery. The most important things for me when hiking are the weight, easy grip, and close fit to the body. So, the sweating wasn't a deal realer for me. I think a standard USGI canteen pouch would fit this just fine, and it would solve the sweating issue while providing insulation. But, it would also add some bulk that I wasn't willing to deal with. Ideally, someone would make a universal neoprene canteen sleeve. But, to my utter shock and dismay, nothing like that seems to exist. Laken makes a neoprene sleeve for their canteens, but it can't be purchased separately and doesn't look like it would fit a standard USGI style canteen. I ended up buying the TahoeBay Universal Handholds for Tumblers. It comes with three sizes. The large size sleeve will fit the Stanley canteen if you want it bad enough. The grippy interior lining of the sleeve is great once it's on, but getting it on there was a real struggle. The sleeve does help a lot with sweating and a little bit with insulation. The second photo shows the level of ice when I first filled it (ambient temp around 78°F). The third photo is the sweat that accumulated at the base within about 60 seconds. The fourth photo is after about an hour (very little change in ice level). Fifth photo is sweat around the base at that time. Sixth photo is a couple hours after that, including a 40-min bike ride in direct sun at 82°F (no ice left, but the water was still chilly). All in all I'm really happy with the canteen. I love the shape, it weighs nothing, and it hangs close to my body, making it easy to maneuver through brush, etc.

Overall, great product
I bought this for my BF and safe to say he loves it. He's a blue collar worker and he brings it to his job sites and it holds up very well, no dents/scratch's or anything yet and we've had it for just over a month now. It doesn't hold a whole lot of water (at least I don't feel it does) but he says it keeps him hydrated. He also really loves the strap because it makes it a lot easier to grab and carry around. It seemed a little pricey but it's used 24/7 so I think it's worth it. Overall, great product.

"Randall, There's condensation outside" "This is a canteen. You're gonna find condensation outside!"
The biggest complaint I see (and would have myself) is, indeed, these sweat like crazy if you put a cold drink inside But it's a single-wall canteen. Without turning into a physics lecture, that's just what happens. So put room-temp liquids in if you want to avoid it. Holds a good amount of water and is comfortable to wear. The side clips work best if you face the 'nubs' away from the canteen itself, they clatter a lot less that way. Pretty easily to clean inside, the opening is wide enough to get a small sponge in without much trouble though I can't quite reach all the sides, and definitely not the bottom without kid-sized hands. Personally would only use this for water anyway (again, not insulated!), so not too much of a concern. Given everything I feel like the price cold be a bit lower but I'm pretty happy with it, and it doesn't feel cheap, so maybe you just get what you pay for. For those who want something similar without the sweating there's a different, insulated "cross body" Stanley makes but it holds less fluid and costs almost $80 which strikes me as a bit absurd, but someone might like it.

stays where I put it....fits my small hand
I love this canteen. It fits my hand well. I have small hands. When I put ice in it, it sweats but, that's not a real concern for me because I use it at the gym... I do water aerobics and it sets on the deck while I jump around in the pool. The deck is slanted and round containers seem to get knocked over and then travel on the deck. Usually, away from you. This canteen stays where I put it. NO run away water bottle for me.

Great canteen but cap retention piece is horrible
It's a great canteen, pretty lightweight, no leaks, and the sling design is great for hiking. It is single wall stainless steel, it does not insulate. It is not designed to keep drinks cold, or hot. Any reviewer who complains about this is at fault, they didn't read the description correctly or do any research before buying. The only design flaw is the cap. The plastic retention piece makes the cap stick when loosening and prevents easy alignment when tightening. I removed mine.

Hesitant on reviewing but so far...
I'm alittle hesitant on reviewing this canteen because I've only had it for one day but in the couple hours that I've had it I'm honestly not impressed. I've had a plastic government issue canteen that I've been using for almost 20 years now and purchased this canteen to replace it. I liked the idea of having a shoulder strap since the only shoulder strap you can get for the military one is the cheap rothco one but after purchase I've started to see its flaws. Stanley Canteen: PROS 1) supposed "lifetime warranty" 2) shoulder strap 3) fits in a government issue pouch 4) lid allows more space for ice if wanted or needed. Stanley Canteen: CONS 1) very loud (not ideal for wildlife photography or hunting) lots of clicks and clanks from the strap and D-rings. 2) the new lid design overlaps the threading on the canteen and is very hard to clean. 3) requires more turns to open than a standard government issue. 4) considerably heavier 5) dents easier than the plastic alternative, dents in a canteen aren't cosmetic they can cause pockets of mold and debre inside the canteen as well as beginning the process leaching metal. 6) doesn't have the "kidney" curve that a standard canteen or flask has making it awkward when up against your hip and also awkward when sipping out the remaining liquid. Right off the bat I'm not a huge fan of the design but the Stanley classic canteen 1.1 quart is definitely better than the newer design and alot lighter than their other products. Maybe if your planning on using it everyday perhaps on a farm or field work but even than I'd probably just pickup one of those blue igloo half gallon bottles from Walmart at half the price. Again the only real benefit is the shoulder strap... I would honestly say the whole design is more of a novelty than anything else for someone wanting a "name brand" canteen. It's not much better than the 8 dollar government issue ones so I can't really can't recommend it by any means.

Great modern canteen
Purchased this canteen for a trip to Sedona, AZ. The canteen does not insulate so liquid does heat up if its in the sun. The carry strap it came with is great, keeps it convenient. It says 1.1 qt but it will take a little more. Its easy to use while hiking.

it's a nice canteen I guess
If you want insulation, this won't really do it for you. Don't get me wrong, it's better than a plastic water bottle, but it's not the best for it. That being said, this is still a really good water bottle. It's a liter worth of space, but it's unobtrusive and it feels like it takes up less than that. The entire top part screws off for easy refilling, not just the mouth-sized cap, and the build quality is amazing. The strap is also a nice utility to have, even if I usually just stuff it in my bag. It is a bit heavy though, and it feels like the spout is a bit too wide.

Excelente calidad

Schade.
Die Flasche ist toll. Leider aufgrund Sparsamkeit oder Dummheit verbeult geliefert worden. Im Karton war nur die Flasche. Kein Schutz der Flasche. Nichts dergleichen. Viel Geld für Schrott bezahlt. Schade Update. Ich habe von Verkäufer eine Gutschrift erhalten. Verkäufer hat schnell auf Reklamation reagiert. Alles bestens
