Deluxe Beach Castle Playset with 2.5lbs Play Sand, Tools & Molds, Sensory Toys for Kids Ages 5 and up

This set is great. The sand is flowy but doesn't stick to my hands. The castle pieces make really nice shapes out of the sand. I was surprised that the flowy sand packed tight enough to make shapes hold. Castle pieces and sand fit perfectly in the box, but with no extra room. The box is cute, and I think kids will enjoy the creative options it gives. I bought this for sandtray therapy, so I kind of wish the box had a flat bottom. I learned the hard way with another set of kinetic sand -- don't get it wet. I washed my hands and used a 3 lb bag from Michaels, and now it is kind of sticky and warm. It still works, but it is not as nice as this. I could be wrong about what happened. Hopefully other people will share if they have similar issues. I also bought the 5.5 lb box here on Amazon. This has a courser feel, and slightly moister. My first impression is that the two would not mix well. That is my only issue. I would like to have more than 2.5 lbs of sand to work with. If I do find more sand, it won't fit into the box. If the 3.25 lb bag from Amazon is similar to the 3 lb bag from Michaels, then that is probably the best bet for mixing. The 5.5 lb sand review redirects me here. So I'll say more about that. It's a lighter color and very fine. It still sticks to itself and not to my hands. It feels really good. It's a drier, smoother feel. I tried it with the sandcastle pieces, and it does hold its shape there. This sand is a lighter beige, while the sand castle kit sand is a darker, courser brown. This sand is great for sandtray therapy. The sandtray figures don't get dirty. The sand comes off easily. The sand is mesmerizing. It feels good to play with.

My daughter liked it very much and spends up to an hour entertaining with this kinetic sand. I like that it doesn't stick at all on clothes or things and it's very easy to clean and store.

It said this for a 5 year old but my 2yo loves to play with it! Of course with supervision making sure he doesn’t eat it. It’s very interesting because there’s no mess at all! You also will get the lid to cover and store everything! Makes it easy to store the toy without a mess! Also it’s not drying at all and can be used over and over again! Good for sensory play!

Bought this for a 4–6 year old and it's been a genuine hit. The sand itself is the star: it moulds cleanly, holds its shape well, and the castle and shape releases come out satisfying every time. That tactile quality — the way it clumps and holds without being wet — is exactly what makes kinetic sand worth it over regular play sand. Cleanup is also dramatically easier than I expected. It clumps together instead of scattering, so you're not finding sand in the carpet three rooms away. I'd still recommend using a tray or putting down a tablecloth — some bits do escape — but it's nothing like actual beach sand. Honest downside: the plastic tools feel cheap and one broke fairly quickly with normal use. The molds themselves held up fine, but the shovels and accessories are clearly not built to last. Not a dealbreaker at this price point, but worth knowing if you're buying for a rough handler. 2.5 lbs of sand sounds like it might not be much, but it's plenty for the included molds and keeps kids occupied for a solid stretch. For the full set at this price — sand plus molds plus tools — the value is good compared to buying a bag of kinetic sand and accessories separately. Best for ages 4 and up. Younger than that and the mold precision becomes more frustrating than fun.

This was a great gift for my 4 year old. He loves this as a sensory toy. The pieces that is comes with to build a sand castle are a great size, and easy to use. It allows him to use his imagination and we use the bin as well as the top to create fun sand creations. It is a reasonable price, and I love that the top can go on and you store it away until the next time you're ready to play. It would be a great gift for any child.

Gift for my granddaughter. She is still playing with it to this day. Perfect for little ones.

My little one loves this Kinetic Sand Castle Playset. I love the idea of the box because it keeps all the sand in the box. The moulds and tools are made of durable plastic, and they will last a long time. The sand never dries out, and it's so satisfying to play with. I always play with my toddler and I really enjoy it. The sand sticks together, so it's quite easy to clean up any mess if it drops out of the box. The playset is easy to store and perfect to take on the go. I find the kinetic sand better than the Play-Doh, it is less messy and retains its condition well.
