Nvme housing that works well on a Mac mini M1
This is a fantastic item, it’s reasonably small in size and the build quality is superb, light alloy with a switchable cooling fan that is hardly audible, I fitted this with a 2TB Samsung NVME 990 pro drive, and attached this to my Mac mini m1 and set it up to be the boot drive, this runs perfectly. I am getting faster speeds from this drive than I am getting from my Mac M1’s built in ssd hard drive. File transfers are so fast. It has never overheated even under continuous loads. I will be purchasing a second one in the future and have no hesitation in recommending it.

Works great
I inserted a 4TB Crucial P3 Plus SSD into this and it was fairly simple to set up. It is very solidly build and has a premium feeling weight to it.The included fan can be useful for large transfers and it is very quiet, barely audible more than 2 meters away. The speeds are great too, often time averaging around 2GB per second. One thing to note is that this enclosure is more aimed at a static setup where you don't want to be swapping drives too often as it only includes two thermal pads which are needed for optimal performance but tricky to take off once installed.Overall, I recommend it and am happy with the purchase.

I have a question
I bought the nvme version last month and my 4TB Samsung 990 PRO arrived yesterday.Installation, partitioning (I set up a 1 TB and a 3TB for legacy reasons). Formatting went smoothly. Then I did a disk speed test(average of 5). Read speeds are impressive but write speeds are about much slower. Testing was repeated with and without a Thunderbolt hub, the result the same. Other older drives (different enclosures not thunderbolt) do not have the same discrepency using the same USB port. Any ideas? The specs for all the components indicate a much smaller difference

Excellent! 6 ⭐️ if I could.
What a brilliant little device this is. So easy to use, and unlike my previous enclosure I tried, it just gets warm.Truly ‘tool free’ to put your NVMe chip in, use the rubber stopper and apply the thermal tape. Clip on the cover and you are good to go.There is a push button switch that turns the fan on and off. When the fan is running it’s very quiet, and very efficient at cooling. I leave the fan off and it is just warm. Perhaps under heavy data use the fan would be required. If I had to complain about one thing, the fan could be temperature controlled?Fully recommend this enclosure.I used a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe chip.

Solid and effective
I needed an SSD for video editing (to save were and tear on my laptop's internal drive). I paired this with a WD 2TB NVMe SSD and it flies. It's plugged into a TB4 port on my Caldigit TS4 and, whilst not as fast (according to the Blackmagic speed tester) as my MacBook's internal SSD, it's running at full Thunderbolt 4 capacity. No more stuttering when editing video (something I was starting to get with my Samsung T7).This enclosure has the advantage of a switchable fan - not needed most of the time and I only click it on when transferring large files to it, and when rendering final video (as that seems to be when it gets hot) - the solid aluminium box is plenty of heat sink for more normal use.

Great value for money !With PLUS / PRO / & max versionsAlthough not every seller indicates which version they are sellingThey are all great but research them which one is best for you ! Then enjoy the benefits they give youBrian

Speeds isn't what I expected, though it could be my setup
Needed some extra hard drive space without paying the Apple Tax on SSD so after researching wnet for this along with a 4TB Crucial P3 stick of SSD. I'm getting about 1400MB/s write and 2100MB/s read, and I was hoping for more in the region of just over 2000MB/s write, consdering the set up and via Thunderbolt 4. However, it may well be due to it being plugged into a Caldigit TS4 dock and also having a Thunderbolt 3 monitor attached as well as numorous other hardware attached to it, which is bound to reduce the bandwith, but that still appears to be slow. Strangely when I look at the system report, it is connecting at Thunderbolt 3 speeds. I am going to change things around to see if I can improve those speeds by plugging direct into the MacBook, which I have tried before, but still not getting the speeds I expected. As for putting it together, that was a breeze. From unboxing to up and running was 5 - 10 minutes max and I have had no issues withoverheating, with the fan being on most of the time, you dont really notice that much noise. It was stilll a cost effective way to add SSD to the Mac and in farness, even the speeds I am geting now is fine for what I am using it for, mainly for FCP and theres been no issues yet, but be good to improve them. Price for the enclosure was also good, on offer at the time, which often happens, look for those vouchers and the build is good, nice and sturdy, though it can possibly be a bit to eay for the top to become loose, but I dont plan on using it as a portable drive but more of a permenant fixture with the dock. I'm 75% happy with it, though if I was building anoter one, which i probably will, I'd probably try a different brand just for comparision of speed.

Form AND Function! Perfect.
Impressive build quality, easy of memory card fitting (no tools required), compact form factor and super-quiet switchable fan. So happy with first one I got I ordered a second.
