Exceeds expectations
I did a ton of research before buying a robo vac. This is perfect and I canโt understand how or why any additional technology would be needed or why Iโd want to pay more for it. This vacuum gets the house so clean and the self empty is absolutely necessary so you donโt have to worry about it not getting a full cleaning in because it gets too full. It just goes to the base, empties itself and then goes back to its last location. My biggest concerns in buying one of these were a vacuum that constantly got stuck on things and a vacuum that missed cleaning areas if furniture was in a slightly different location. This vac is fantastic, cleans every inch of my home, transitions from hardwood to carpet with no problems and Iโm amazed at the areas it fits itself into so it can clean. It gets under my dish washer and fridge, transitions on and off my marble near the fireplace and handles our welcome mats without issue. It also seems to have a certain level of intelligence where it has gotten more confident in certain areas of my home. Set up and mapping was so simple. Another cool feature is that you can update your map at any time to add different rooms or change dimensions. For example I have an open kitchen/family room. At first I labeled that area as 1 room. I then edited and created 2 rooms so that I can select just one of those areas if I want to get an individual area cleaned at any given time. Let me address some of the negatives I read in reviews. Noise- not too noisy, when emptying itโs a little loud for about 6 seconds, no big deal. Battery life- no problem for me. I can spot clean any time I want. I have it scheduled to do a full clean at 12:00am every night. As a result it doesnโt matter if it stops to charge in between cleanings. App limitations- not a problem for me, I prefer the simplicity. You can on demand have it clean one room or multiple rooms with the touch of a button. You can have it spot clean an area by touching the area on the map. Scheduled cleaning- only lets you schedule all rooms, you canโt schedule just 1 room. Not a problem. I select rooms as needed throughout the day, for example if kids were messy at lunch I select kitchen. But I like that it cleans my entire first floor every night. Also while itโs cleaning you can alternate the power which is nice. Bin storage- some people say it wonโt last 45 days, Iโm not gross enough to let it sit for 45 days. But there is more than enough space to not worry about it overfilling if Iโm on vacation for a while. Otherwise we tend to empty it every couple days because we love seeing how much dirt it collected lol. In review, this is the best product at the best value. Anything more expensive isnโt needed because this gets the job done (amazing cleaning without getting stuck on things). Anything cheaper I wouldnโt have confidence in cleaning power/navigating. I rarely leave Amazon reviews but based on all the research I did I felt I should pass this info along to all of you.

Love this thing! ๐คฉ
We went through so many robot vacuums trying to find one that worked as good as we needed it to. So many returns. Especially if you're going to spend that much money on one you want it to work. This one stands up to our household! ๐ช๐ป The mapping feature works really well. It was easy to setup. We have 8 dogs & 2 cats and the house easily gets really dirty fast. Especially going in and outside so much. It picks up all the dirt. I barefoot tested it many times after running it. It gets the dirt in the hard to reach places like corners. It holds a lot of dirt\debris. The reservoir also holds a lot before you have to empty it. Also you can set the vacuum to empty every time it gets done vacuuming or after a set amount of times. The suction is so good I've had it pick up spilled dog food and other equally heavy things. The price is amazing considering how well it works. Oh and it's quiet enough that my cat literally lays on the floor and makes it go around her. She wouldn't care if the thing bumped her! ๐ I will say that when it empties the vacuum into the reservoir, the suction is loud but otherwise it's very quiet. ๐คซ You are able to set a schedule in the app as far as when you want it to clean what rooms and what times. It has a standard clean and a matrix clean where it goes over the floors twice with more suction. There is also a spot clean function where you can zero in on the area you want vacuumed for a spill. All around this little thing rocks and it's worth every penny!

Terrible robot vacuum and terrible customer service
My first robot worked fine, although it was acting very stupidly in some cases. The app is also very lacking in features. But these are not the main issues, although they are negatives. After 2 months, the device stopped functioning, sending codes and messages to my cellphone about the cliff detector not functioning. After spending one hour on the phone, tech support decided to send me a new robot free of charge. This one did not come with the docking station but... it was a different model, and I could not reuse the parts from the original one as told. I called again and they sent me a new robot, this time the right model. But: this one started giving me the exact same error message. I called again (3rd time) and this time they told me they would send me a new robot + docking station. They had me pay for shipping. They also sent me an email with a link to print the shipping labels, at my demand. Three weeks have passed, the new robot and docking station still did not show up. So, I called, and I was told that the new items would not be sent until the other ones were sent back to them. Which is something they never told me. Let me repeat: they never told me they would only send me a new one if the previous THREE robots were not sent to them. At the end of this 4th call, I made it clear that I was never going to do business with Shark ever again. I told the customer support person that I was going to throw it all in the trash: three robots and one docking station, and that I never wanted to do business with them ever again. I am not mad at the customer support people, by the way, although they failed to tell me I needed to ship the 3 other robots first. I did customer service for a crappy product in the past and, oh my, did it teach me patience in the face of utter disrespect. I am mad at Shark for having such a crappy product and not handling the issues properly in the backend. Do not buy any of their products.

Great robot vacuum with two exceptions
I love this vacuum! I have two dogs that shed a lot so I vacuum 1-2 times a day. My old robot vacuum didnโt have the self emptying base or sense when it was full, so I had to empty its container every 15 minutes and if I forgot, it would keep running without picking up anything. The self emptying feature on my Shark is excellent! If it gets full mid-clean, it goes back to the base to empty itself and then returns to where it was cleaning. I empty it about once a week (instead of every 45 days like the listing says), but someone without pets would probably be able to empty it less often. It has great suction but itโs pretty quiet. It does a thorough cleaning job and gets the corners decently. The battery life is decent. On the normal mode, itโll do my 1000 sq ft condo in one charge. There are also MAX (stronger) and ECO (lighter) suction modes, but I havenโt tried those. The vacuum doesnโt โclean by brailleโ like older robot vacuums used to do, bumping into everything to determine where walls and obstacles were. This guy seems to be able to โseeโ his surroundings. The app works great and I love that I can see the battery life and tell my Alexa to send my robot to clean a specific room. The vacuum starts by making a map of your home and then you label each room so it knows where to go. There is one drawback: it has to sense the whole house in one trip. This means you canโt map multi-story homes (not a problem for me, but it is for friends who have 2-story homes). When it made the map of my house, I had a room closed off for storage that I didnโt need it to clean, but Iโve now made the room into an office. Instead of adding the room to my map, I have to erase the old map and send the robot around to map the whole house again, and then reassign the room boundaries. Another drawback is that the Alexa integration is a little clunky, in that it always asks for the robot name even though I only have one vacuum. โAlexa, ask Shark to start cleaning the living room.โ โWhich robot?โ โBruce.โ โOkay, your robot is now cleaning.โ Alexa doesnโt recognize the request if you ask using just the robot name (โask Bruce to clean the living roomโ). I wish they would eliminate the extra question when you only have one robot. Not a big deal but it is annoying. Overall Iโm very happy with my vacuum and itโs saved me a lot of time and effort that I used to spend keeping dog hair under control.

Must Have
I've had McCleany for a few years. It is still going strong. Pros: Best on non-carpet floors Maps the room with specific cleaning targeting options Can activate through app or Google home No go zones Noise is low until it empties, but that only 5-7 seconds of a jet taking off Cons: Kinda bad on rugs Gets stuck occasionally Occasional app problems such as signing you out each time Occasional problems disconnecting from Google home Honestly, one of the best purchases I made. It picks up so much dog hair, which is the primary reason. I sent it out frequently just to maintain the shedding. I chose no mopping because I don't trust it to not make a mess, and I prefer steam mop for no chem trails. There was only one time in the few years it did not dock correctly and the battery died.

Overall decent average robot vacuum
I bought this 3 years ago (my 2nd of 3 purchases over time). I have it programmed to run 5 days a week. Generally it's adequate to clean basic things. It does get stuck on cords. The boundaries work well and aren't too complicated to set. I have a dog that is part lab with lots of hair. The hair gets buried inside the wheels etc. I clean it weekly with a metal tool and small vacuum or it won't clean. I didn't realize the filter inside the storage unit for awhile. It's very easy to simply clean it with soap and water and let it dry. I will say I bought a Eureka with a clear storage tank that I like much better. I use it in basement on carpet and use this on my wood floors with area rugs.

UPDATED: The Shark and My Two Hairy Doggies
I've owned and used the Matrix shark self-emptying vacuum now every 2 days for about 5 months now. I am ready to report "The Great and Could Be Better". It vacuums about 700SF normally and weekly 1200SF. Here are my likes and dislikes. Keep in mind I have two dogs, a Golden Retriever (otherwise known as a hair shedding machine) and a lab mutt. LIKES: 1. My (****all hardwood and vinyl****) floors stay consistently vacuumed clean due to the 2 day vacuuming cycle I'm on. I like it that it keeps the areas below my bed clean as well. There is NO WAY I can keep the floors so clean manually. I'm older and besides, I don't want to dedicate hours each week to that task. COULD BE BETTER: 1. Battery charging. I had a older unit from a different manufacturer and it would clean the same house and floors and have at least 30% charge still remaining after completion. The Shark ALWAYS must pause and go to charge mode for at least a couple of hours with every use cleaning my 700SF space. It's like Shark used a small battery. If you think this is no big deal because it returns to the dock and self charges, you'd be wrong. Although it does in fact recharge flawlessly. While it is recharging it sits quietly..... BUT... But the vacuum also sometimes needs manual cleaning if hair wraps around the brush or isn't fully expended during docking cycles. So, more times than I'd like (a couple a week I'd say), I stop hearing the unit running thinking that it completed the cleaning and is now charging... but it didn't. Said another way, I may be thinking it's charging when in fact it's ill from ingesting too much dog hair! It's not the end of the world, I deal with it. But it is ANNOYING after the 20th time. Granted, a notice comes to the app. But you have to remember to open the app. I don't mean to make this sound worse than it is. It's the difference between a vacuum that overall does a better job than vacuuming manually, and one that is perfect. The shark is NOT perfect. 2. Speaking of cleaning - mine is the 45 day version which only manages a week or so because of my 2 dogs. So I make it a habit every couple of vacuums to empty the canister. It's not a huge deal. But if you have dogs, don't expect 45 days. At all. 3. This is not their top of the line model. The higher version is much more sensitive to detecting and acting on ground clutter. A babies rattle left on the floor etc. I knew that when I bought it. However, as I found out, using the app's scheduling system (e.g., vacuum every tuesday automatically) fairly useless and I stopped trying. The reason is I must properly police and prepare the house immediately before it vacuums. Instead, I do a visual and tidy of the house first and then press the clean button. Had I known then what I know now, I would have bought the more sensitive shark. CONCLUSION: It may seem that I have knocked the unit, and I guess in some of the annoyances I have. But overall, I have a cleaner house because of it. And that matters in the deep south. I won't bore you with the details but keeping my floors always clean keeps the brown recluse spiders at bay. My last vacuum did that, then when it died I did not have one for a year. The spiders enjoyed a comeback because there was a lot more smaller bugs drawn to the dog hair and floor dust. Then I got shaky and after a few months, we are back in a safer house. True story.

Great product
Gave one to each of my four nieces and they all love them. Takes a but to get used to how to clean all the parts and filters but allows one to vacuum every day while you relax. Kids love watching "the robot" and leaves beautiful stripes of clean carpet and floors wherever it goes. Make sure bowls of water for pets are behind sonething and ni wires or small objects should be on the floor or carpet. Use a yard blower to clean outside after 2-3 uses. The roller csm easily be removed and hair gathers at one end for easy removal. I love mine and it's several years old. Does not to edges so well and I recommend you buy the replacement parts from china as they do wear out after about a year and they are so cheap to buy online using the product name and model number. Amazon was very helpful if offering them when you buy this product online from them. Very great product. Makes my house clean every day. Easy to use. I just turn it on and it learns the house parameters quickly and will vacuum every room until it is done. Even if it runs out of juice it will fo to its home base blow out the dirt and recharge and them continue cleaning until the whole house is done. Love how it goes under beds and gets all the dust there too. Great if you have pets and/or allergies. Needs no remote control. Turn it on at its home base and let it go. Must empty the receptacle after about 10 days and wash the filters once a month. But it is way better than the old ones you have to push. Great performance. If it gets stuck it talks to you and tells you what it needs. Love it!!!
