Rovner Bb Tenor Saxophone Ligature - Dark - 2R

Having used a Rovner Dark on my alto and got on well with it, when I bought myself a tenor I looked for a Rovner to use with it, and by chance ended up with a Mk3. The result was not good, with frequent squeaking on high G and above, and unstable low notes. My teacher and I both suspected either my technique or the instrument, but despite studying both long and hard and trying various adjustments, the problem persisted. Finally, she suggested that I try her Rovner Dark on my sax. It played easily and flawlessly, so I ordered one, and, so far, I haven't had a single squeak or instability. In terms of tone, the dark is superb. It is one of the few ligatures that I have tried that really does make a difference to the sound.

I have been using Rovners on all of my saxes for years and can strongly recommend them. The saxophone community seem to have turned against them as they can scratch the top of hard rubber pieces. This is indeed the case with my alto mouthpiece which shows light scratching (a Freddie Gregory). Incidentally this is no issue to me as I love my alto set up and will not be reselling this mouthpiece or the ligature. Scratching will never happen with this tenor saxophone ligature and the Otto Link Tone Edge mouthpiece it was bought to compliment as there is a gap between the metal bolt and the mouthpiece. The combination of reed ( I buy Rigotti Golds direct from the manufacturer in Provence), ligature and mouthpiece is excellent allowing a full, dark and rather retro jazz tone.

I bought this as a present for my wife, who has recently taken up the tenor sax. She tells me it does its job well. It seems to be a sensible price. She would fully recommend this product and its supplier. Highly recommended

Nice ligature, and I'm very happy with it. Would have given 5 stars except that I was very frustrated that I was initially incorrectly sent a clarinet ligature, which meant a bit of delay, and returns hassle to eventually get the right one. But the ligature itself seems very good.

Made a real difference to my playing and sound. Not so sure I would go for a dark one next time... Dark refers to sound not colour... I didn't know that...... In fact I think I will try a brighter one just to compare them... But a great way to hold the reed.

excellent ligature.. gives a warm tone.. also I don't seem to split my reeds as much with this lig, as I do with a metal ligature. It can be reversed too so the bolt is at the bottom.. which is a more traditional style. It does give a slightly different tone too.

There is an interesting video of a bass clarinetist demonstrating the differences between ligatures - he then goes on to compare them against shoelaces, rubber bands, luggage tags, etc to show the difference between them (or lack of). The point was a ligature something to hold a reed on that makes a tiny difference in sound. There are far more important things to spend your time deliberating. That said, this hold the reeds without issues

Rovnerの同じシリーズにMarkⅢを使っていて、これより軽い反応を期待したが、説明とは逆にこちらのほうが反応が重い。 似ている仕様のGFsystem よりは反応が重い感じである。
