I used this coarse cigar stone to reprofile the edge and then applied a medium/fine canoe stone that came with my scythe to refine the edge and remove any burr. Whereas before the sickle would just catch and tug on any vegetation, now it cuts and slices with ease. It's now my favourite garden tool. I'll usually pick this over electric hedge trimers. It's so quick and precise on spontaneous trimming tasks with no faff of cables or battery management. but good sharpening is key and this coarse, 120 grit cigar stone is the foundation 'stone' for many of my garden tools.
