Drive Medical Nitro Sprint Rollator Walker with Seat, Standard Size, Red

I am 81 years old, having balance and strength issues. I want to stay active but have fallen several time the last few years. I have a hospital supplied folding alum walker; it is ok indoors, but not outdoors.. It lacks some features I want. I want a seat in case I have to wait for a ride. I want large front wheels for safety on grass. I want capability to maneuver through narrow spaces. I want as light weight as possible. Within the past year I compared various rollators and eventually came up with this Drive Medical Nitro Sprint Rollator, model 10266. Nitro has capabilities I was looking for: seat, large wheels, side-to-side folding, 20# or less, I am 5’1” and female. I ordered Standard size in Black. Placed the order about a month ago, was shipped the following day and was delivered the day after. I opened box and began trying it out. No assembly needed (not a decision point for me). Easily adjusted it to fit me precisely. Can sit with feet on the ground, can stand upright between handles and walk between handles with a normal gait. First thing I did was pick it up. Was prepared to return it immediately if I couldn’t lift it. Various descriptions of this model had various weights, so I had to try it out. Amazon, pay attention here. It weighs about 20#; I ride with Uber, so driver must hoist it into vehicle for me. Various drivers may be husky or frail. So far, so good. Hospital-supplied walker can accommodate a tray (purchased separately) for carrying items such as food, books, drinks, etc. Nitro accommodates a tray (purchased separately) onto its seat only. Neither of them can have a tray attached while folded. Therefore, tray is only useful at home for me. In addition to my pocketbook, a crossbody shoulder bag, very small, I carry a “saddlebag”—a fairly large purse—on my hospital-supplied walker. Use it for carrying “necessities”, like flashlight, water bottle, garage door opener, book, change of underwear, etc., it hangs on my shoulder when walker is folded. Nitro recommends NOT hanging anything on it. Therefore have to have saddlebag on my shoulder or resting on seat at all times when using Nitro. The Nitro is very sturdy; it rolls very smoothly and quietly indoors and out. I just press a lever with my foot to go up a curb. Tried it on grass, works fine up a grassy incline. I lean forward slightly when going uphill, a little backward when going down and hold “slow down” brake when going down. Had a learning curve about operating brake. When new, I parked it at top of my driveway without setting handbrake. It rolled down the driveway and out into the street in no time! Now I set the handbrake every time when it is parked. The Nitro is versatile in its folding strategy. I can fold it by lifting up the handle on its seat and it folds side-to-side, just like a wheelchair folds. I can navigate narrow hallways and can push it ahead of me when entering a church pew (when there is enough room in the pew. It will stand upright when folded, don’t have to lean it onto anything. I can swiftly open it when conditions permit just by pushing down on the edges of the seat. Now for a comment about the bag. The bag hangs either in front of the seat or behind with two little fasteners on the bag and two pegs on either side of the seat. Has a handle atop bag. Good if you have enough free hands. Bag come with a shoulder strap included, but no way to hook shoulder strap onto bag. Zipper is flimsy, needs stiffening behind the zipper. Takes two hands to zip and unzip around corners. Bag must be empty…or off pegs… when Nitro is folded. Bag absolutely useless to me. Oops, didnt realize bag is supposed to fit onto handlebars. Haven't tried that yet. Will update this review later Hope this helps. I ordered Nitro clip-on cup holder and Nitro Cane holder when I placed order for Drive Nitro Rollator. Will review them separately. Long story short: I cut off the hangtag yesterday. Nitro is mine now.

Don’t get scared when you see the size of the box; it is almost completely ready to use when you take it out of the box. The only thing you need to do is adjust the handles to a comfortable height for you & the accessory bag (we found the directions inside the bag after figuring out everything for ourselves) can be put in a couple different places. This is a PETITE Size/Model, not a one size fits all. This is the only company that I could find that actually says for 5ft.4in. and under, but I don’t think it’s accurate since it has 5 heights for handle adjustments (#1 is lowest or for shortest -#5 is highest or the tallest)this is the only area that adjusts on the walker; For comparison, I have it on #4 and I’m 5 ft. tall. It looks good quality & it is a sturdy piece of equipment. The wheels roll easily on my carpet, outside on the sidewalks and on grass; it is significantly heavier than my regular walker. It easily folds up by pulling up on the handle in the middle of the seat. It can fit in a car either folded & lying down on iits side or in some vehicles it can be stowed standing up on its wheels; if you need to compare car size, I have a Subaru Crosstrek and it fits in lying down on it’s side, but I do not have enough clearance to place the rollator istanding-up on its wheels in my. The breaks work well for locking in place, but I find they are a bit stiff (hopefully they’ll loosen up a bit with use) & the breaks have a couple positions so make sure they are completely on before sitting down. I’m 71 years old & just started having periods when my blood pressure suddenly drops & I need to sit down fast, before I pass out.

This is my wife's first of two walkers in addition to the aluminum two wheel walker from the hospital. She has severe arthritis and injuries to her feet, so she uses her walker for more than just balance, she leans on her walker when she walks. We have a modest home so this walker is quite a bit larger than the aluminum one, so navigating this walker for her was challenging at first. She thought it was too big. So, eventually I bought a different brand walker with four equal size wheels. It turns out, we don't like the other brand for reasons we didn't consider before owning a walker. The larger front tires and wheels of the Nitro are easier to steer and navigate both indoors and outdoors. The off set front wheels of the Nitro makes it earlier to steer and the brakes function reasonably. Also the Nitro has a smaller footprint and takes up less physical space opened or closed ( consider if you go to restaurants). The Nitro is also much easier to fold and unfold. Just pull up on the handle on the seat. They both weigh about 20 pounds and claim they are light weight. But my opinion is 20 pounds is pretty heavy for a handicapped woman who only weighs 95 pounds. I'm not young either and her caregiver so an important consideration is how easy this item is to carry or get into and out of a small car or (in my case behind the front seat of my pickup truck). The Nitro is a slightly smaller of the two and easier to handle because it clips and stays closed. Carrying this up and down steps is hard if you're old. Something I didn't consider at the time I made this purchase. The doors in our house are 30 inches. The walker goes thru but it's a little tight if you're turning. However, the bathroom doors are only 24 inches. The walker cannot go through that door opening in the opened position. A pet peeve of the other brand's walker. The Nitro wheels are silver. The other brand wheels are black and has a wider stance. So, against dark carpet I am tripping and kicking the wheels of the other brand in my bare feet frequently and painfully. I never kick or trip on the Nitro tires.

Works well, rolls with ease and seems plenty sturdy. It fits through the doors in my house which makes me very happy. Another plus is that it came fully assembled. All I had to do was pull it out of the box and open it up. The seat is a tiny bit tight, but I still fit on it. The blue color is nice too. It'd be cool if it came in purple though. :) It is not cheap but is totally worth the extra cost. The curb assist is great and it has good breaks. I ordered a cheaper one before this one and it is made cheap and the seat is tiny even though it is supposedly for heavy people. You get what you pay for. Plus, I waited too long to return the dang thing.

We just bought this newer “Drive” walker for my 92 year old father. After a few days we have noticed both pluses and minuses that I’m hoping “Drive” might take into account on their next version. We have two older Drive walkers to compare with. PLUSES & MINUSES: - sturdier frame, which makes the user feel more safe and steady, than our much older walkers from Drive - The larger wheels make for smoother driving - folding is super easy than our old Drive walkers, when we need to get it into the car. Also having it click closed means it does not open on you when lifting into the car. We do find it much heavier than our other Drive walkers. A bit too heavy for me. - seat and back rest are comfortable - although it would be wonderful if the top band on the back rest was a bit longer than the lower one so that it fit more the curve of the back. - Minus - every time my dad tries to unzip the accessory bag, one or both sides fall off of the knobs it hooks onto. My dad is unable to put it back on himself. We found the quality of the bag to be less than expected and less quality than our older bags. The zip is also difficult for him to unzip and rezip. Plus - for those who want to take their accessory bag on and off often, and will primarily zip/unzip once it is off it is a plus. The older version he had the bag did not come off. - Brakes are a minus for him - my dad can not pull the break handles to take it out of park. His older versions was much easier to use for him. We find that the distance between the park position and handle bars seems greater on this version than older versions and the brakes are stiffer even on the easiest setting. He has arthritis and also finds it difficult to slip his fingers into the handle loops. On our old versions one does not have a loop, and it was easier for him. Overall we are happy with the choice if the brakes become easier to use after a few weeks. For the bag, I’m going to attach the bag from an older version as he will not need to takes his on and off.

As a younger person living with multiple sclerosis, having to use a Rollator is about the last thing you want to have at my age. I have been using one of these (what I will call the older model) for the last eight years and have absolutely loved them. I have multiple. I keep one in the car and one in the house. They get extremely heavy use being that I teach full-time and use it at school. I get asked so many questions about it no matter where I go and always sing its praises. I should be a rep for these people because I could’ve sold at least 100 of them by now. This is the latest model and has some new features. I really like that the pouch is not webbed, but an actual bag which gives you some security when keeping stuff inside. It’s also raised a little bit higher so the bag won’t get caught in the front wheels when you turn, you also have three options to where you want to keep it on the device. The seat is a little bit higher than the older model which just feels nice, not like you’re sitting on the ground. The ride is smooth just like the other model but the backing on the seat is a little bit different and I’m curious to see how that feels over time. Still lightweight and easy to handle in and out of the car. I am only 5 foot 2 and have owned the petite model in all of them that I purchased. I’ve never tried the standard size and certainly don’t need the tall size. As a young person having to use one of these, I cannot recommend it enough. I can’t speak to its functionality for an older person being that I’m not one, but as someone who is very ambulatory and still moves relatively quick, other than having terrible balance, I don’t know how it would be for an older person to use. I purchased the color black because it suits me the best. It does come in cool colors and I bet you those look great too. $200 for one of these I think is a steal. Don’t hesitate, it’s worth it. I will update this after a bit to keep you posted on my impressions. Again, I should be a rep for these people! Hey Amazon hook me up!!! Impressions after one month…. Works great feels good. In fact a little bit sturdier than the previous model. Brakes are great. Everything works really well. I just feel like they’ve completely upgraded the entire device still a fan. It’s worth it no regrets. And the new design of the backrest is spine actually feels more supportive.

I have used an earlier model of this walker for years due to back pain.Sometimes I feel like the pain in my back is so bad I have to sit down immediately. It is nice to always have a chair with me. It is also nice for carrying boxes too. My husband recently needed a walker to prevent falls. I wasn't sure he would use it very much so I got him a less expensive smaller one from a different brand. Turned out he really liked it and felt safer using it. The problem was the wheels. They were about 5" in diameter and maybe an inch wide. The wheels got stuck on the threshold of our front door and in the crack at the front of the building elevator. He got very frustrated trying to shove the wheels over the obstructions. So I did a search for the brand of walker I have and found this one. He really likes it. The front wheels are big enough they roll right over the things his old walker got caught on. The hand grips can be adjusted for different heights but his tend to not stay where we set them. I have reset them twice and I noticed yesterday they had slipped again. I will have to see if there is something I can tighten. The brakes are good. The seat is comfortable but he does not use it very much. I like the bag on my older model better. Mine is rather rectangular and holds more. His is shaped like a large fanny pack and doesn't have mesh like mine does. You can't see what is in the bag as easily but some people may prefer that for privacy. I use the bag on mine all the time so I don't have to carry a purse. Both models have zippers on the bags but mine is bigger and easier to get into. I really like the way these rollators fold up. All you do is give a strong pull/jerk on the handle attached to the seat. The seat folds vertically and you can squeeze the sides of the seat together until it clicks and it locks in place to make it easier to lift up and put in the car. Then when you get it out you spread the sides of the seat until it locks in the open position. Very easy. I would recommend this brand to anyone looking for a good walker that rolls and has a comfortable seat, is easy to lift and stores in a narrow place.

Following is the initial review offered for this product. After a lot os use, I must say when eviewed originaly I had no ideqa what I was talking about. My rollator is very well made, looks better than most, is very comfortable to sit in and is easy to fold up. A bit heavy for some, I have no problem picking it up.. The brakes could not work any better and the wheels hold very well. Doubt if pneumatic tires would add anything positive. The only problem or shortcoming I have noticed is the seat back is fraying where the cloth and metal join. I doubt this will last another 6 months and am hoping a replacement part can be purchased. Love this walker, use it every day for at least an hour and have taken walks of up to 2 miles with it. The major problem I have with my Drive Medical Nitro Sprint Foldable Rollator Walker with Seat is the lack of a brake I can set while just sitting. Where I live seemingly ever street is at least a slight hill. When I stop to rest the rollator wants to roll. If I had a brake I could set at this time I'd be very happy. Folding the unit is not tough if you don't want the rollator to close tightly. I use a snap cord to tie things together when folding. A snap cord doesn't require knots or bows making it easier to use. The rollator came with a black plastic addition which snaps on somewhere. The instructions for this are not at all clear. I'm told to use "my smart phone" to access detailed instructions. Guess what? This dumb user doesn't have a smart phone so no detailed instructions. Now the good stuff. It comes assembled save for the little black plastic thingy. Hooray! It is very easy to adjust. A big hooray. I love walking distances again. I have no feeling of instability. I fell over with a basic walker more than once (have a brain based problem with balance). I have NO feeling of not being in complete command now. It is a bit heavy but I carry it up to a doctor's office on the second floor every week with no feeling of being challenged. Major thought about my Drive Medical Nitro Sprint Foldable Rollator Walker with Seat is I'm a fool for not purchasing it much sooner. I tested a number or rollators and I am certain I purchased the best for me.

Very sturdy and easy to use, yet light enough for comfort and ease. It comes fully assembled so all you need to do is adjust the height to your comfort. The height adjustment is incredibly easy to use with an easy push button release and large white numbers on a black background to assist those with low vision needs. The seat is padded and comfortably wide. The backrest is wide for lower and mid-back support and has an oblong viewing port for safety while walking. The brakes have three settings; on, off and slight resistance for downhill control. This will not run away from/with you when walking downhill. No exposed brake cables means no snagging and no stumbling or tripping. The wheels are large and solid (no flat tires here!) with a silicone-like coating to roll easily over lawns and sidewalks alike. There are small rubber feet to assist in tilting the rollerator up or down for sidewalk curbs or small bumps. The ends of the hand grips have round red reflectors that face to your rear for added visibility at night. All of the features are carefully thought out to create a very satisfying user experience. It even has a visually pleasing shape and colour - I ordered the blue model. This is not the cheapest rollerator out there, nor is it the most expensive. I would be hard pressed to suggest any improvements to the design at all, with the exception of an included mobile phone holder. A mobile phone holder is available from this manufacturer, but must be purchased separately. I did purchase this little extra and find it very handy indeed. I would not hesitate to purchase this product again if mine was ever stolen or lost. I would not hesitate to purchase this for a loved one, either.

Over a few years I have been a heavy user of walkers. Using them for transporting shopping, laundry, charity shop stuff etc. Also on rougher terrain at National Trust places etc. I have had seven walkers and three of them have have been Drive Nitro’s. Friends have had six. They win on having concealed brakes and very comfortable seat.The latest Sprite has updated its braking system which on the old version worn the tyres down quicker. Although I have managed to buy new back wheels in the past. My only complaint is please could they do more colours as with just red and black we get them mixed up when we meet up!
