Really nice escutcheon plate. High quality, no sagging, and you get two for a great price!
This is a high-quality escutcheon cover-up plate for a ceiling light at a great price! We replaced an old ceiling-mount "boob" light that had a 12-inch diameter, with a chandelier that had only a 3-1/2-inch canopy. Of course there was a ceiling paint ring around the old boob light because of the different amount of paint fading that had occurred over the years. Rather than repainting the entire ceiling, this simple escutcheon canopy looked like a good option. It is not clear from the description, but others have noted that you get two for this price. What seems odd is that, especially as you get two, it much less expensive than most others on Amazon. I have installed several other escutcheon plates and this was of equal quality to others that I had spent more for. Further, the thickness of the plastic is quite good and I found that the plate easily supports it own weight, meaning that it does not sag and it really doesn't require any glue or caulk to hold it in place. It looks quite nice as well. For installation, you just slide it up around, or slightly over, your electrical box and fixture and any mounting screws, and then use your light fixture's canopy to hold the escutcheon plate in place. I found that I needed to notch out some of the plate's plastic under the canopy to allow the mounting screws for my light fixture to hang down properly but that is easy enough to do with a drill or just a razor knife. Once the light-fixture canopy is screwed up into place the escutcheon plate stays in place nicely just by friction. Because of the stiffness of the plastic, the plate mounts easily and there is no gap between the ceiling and the edges of the plate. We have white ceilings, so I am using this unpainted and it looks fine. However, our ceiling paint is flat, and this escutcheon plate has a slight semi-gloss white appearance. If i ever get out my ceiling paint, I may paint it in place. But for now it looks great and it nicely complements our new light fixture.

Doesn't even look plastic!
Saw some reviews talking about poor quality and was a little discouraged but still tried it. Yes this is a thin plastic piece but honestly that makes it very versatile for wanting an easy and lightweight fix. Was able to put this up easily and it fit right under the 5.5" light base I had. Used caulk to get a finished seal and it's perfect! No fake wood grain texture like I was seeing with so many others too.

decent size and value
I needed to cover an electrical box and some ceiling damage under my ceiling fan. It's very light weight, and very thin. It was very flat. I used a little caulk as an adhesive to stick it to the ceiling, then mounted the fan bracket on top of the Medallion. It's white and looks OK. I probably could have spray painted it to try to match the fan. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars was that there is a small gap at the outside edge. The Medallion is actually molded with a slight gap. I don't understand why they wouldn't have molded the Medallion with a slight interference on the outside edge. It's barely noticeable, but may be worst for some people.

looks really nice
Great plate for what I needed. Large size, looks really nice on the ceiling. The material is plastic but it looks like molding. I found some flat paint helps the effect. Easy to install/use.

Nice addition to new lighting
I wanted to change my entry way pot lots to hanging lights so we used a pot light converter kit. The kits come with small medallions that didn’t look right with our new lights and the new light base was just slightly too small to cover the pot light hole. We went with these medallions and it’s exactly the look we were wanting. No they don’t sit flush but they look fine with our 10 foot ceiling. We had to cut a little bit of the medallion to fit with the metal cover for the pot light kit but that was easy to do with some scissors and using the metal pot light cover as a template.

Meh, it was ok in an emergency
Long story short, we needed something quickly to cover damaged drywall around an old light fixture. This was cheap and arrived the next day after ordering. I don't know why we received two, but I'm glad we did because one was damaged. The plastic is paper thin and so the edge on one was bent. The other one that was not damaged had a black blemish on it that I was able to rub and get most of it off but not all. You definitely get what you pay for but, wow, was this thing flimsy? Like I said, this was an emergency situation for a guest bedroom so it'll do for now, but even still, I'll probably replace it at some point. I'm giving it 3 stars because it functions as it purports to do and is sufficient for us for now, but it's just not a high-quality item. Luckily, it is on the ceiling under a ceiling fan so it is mostly covered and most likely will not be noticed that much. I would recommend this product as a temporary solution as I've described but for something more permanent I'd advise paying a little more to get something a little sturdier and of higher quality.

A Disastrous Experience
Oh boy, where do I even begin with the Ekena Millwork CMP16TR Traditional Ceiling Medallion? Buckle up, folks, because I have a tale to tell. This seemingly innocent decorative piece turned my home improvement project into a comedy of errors. Get ready for a rollercoaster ride of hilariously disastrous moments and questionable craftsmanship. Brace yourselves for the review you never knew you needed! Product Description and Expectations: The Ekena Millwork CMP16TR Traditional Ceiling Medallion claims to be a stunning addition to any room, promising to add a touch of elegance and sophistication. The description had me envisioning a seamless installation process, exceptional craftsmanship, and a final result that would leave me and my guests in awe. Little did I know that the reality would be quite the opposite. Unpacking the Medallion: As I eagerly unwrapped the package containing the CMP16TR Ceiling Medallion, my excitement quickly turned into confusion. The unfinished surface appeared rough and poorly sanded, resembling a piece of wood that had been gnawed on by a family of beavers. I couldn't help but wonder if I had received a defective unit or if this was the quality Ekena Millwork proudly stood by. Installation Woes: With a determined spirit and a bucket full of optimism, I embarked on the installation process. Little did I know that I was about to face a series of trials and tribulations that would test my patience to the extreme. The pre-drilled holes on the medallion were misaligned, resembling a constellation in the night sky rather than a logical pattern for mounting. As I attempted to align the medallion with the electrical box on my ceiling, it became evident that the dimensions provided were misleading. The 16" outer diameter was not accurate, leaving an unsightly gap between the medallion and the ceiling. It was as if Ekena Millwork believed that gaps were the latest trend in home decor. Craftsmanship Quirks: Now, let's talk about the craftsmanship—or should I say, lack thereof. The intricate design, which was supposed to be the medallion's centerpiece, was riddled with imperfections. It looked as if a blindfolded monkey had attempted to etch a pattern into the surface. It was truly a masterpiece of chaos, with uneven lines and random dents that added an unintentional "modern abstract" touch. To make matters worse, the edges of the medallion were jagged and unfinished. It felt as though they had been chewed on by a pack of feral cats. I couldn't help but wonder if Ekena Millwork had outsourced the production to a team of deranged beavers and cats. Painting Nightmares: In a desperate attempt to salvage the medallion, I decided to paint it. Little did I know that my decision would lead to further misfortune. The surface of the medallion, despite being advertised as "paint-ready," proved to be a nightmare to work with. The wood absorbed the paint unevenly, creating an amateurish result that screamed, "This person should never be allowed near a paintbrush." Mounting Madness: As if the misalignment and poor craftsmanship weren't enough, the mounting process turned into a comedy routine worthy of a prime-time sitcom. The screws provided by Ekena Millwork were about as effective as wet noodles, stripping and breaking at the slightest hint of pressure. It was as if they were made of melted plastic, rather than the sturdy metal one would expect. After several failed attempts at mounting the medallion, I resorted to my trusty collection of expletives. My neighbors probably thought I had enrolled in a sailor's academy. The only silver lining in this farce was the entertainment it provided for those who happened to witness my mounting madness. Conclusion: In all my years of home improvement projects, I have never encountered a product as hilariously disastrous as the Ekena Millwork CMP16TR Traditional Ceiling Medallion. From the rough surface to the misaligned holes, shoddy craftsmanship to uneven painting results, and a mounting process that bordered on absurdity, this medallion failed to live up to even the lowest of expectations. If you're looking for a good laugh and a cautionary tale to share with friends, by all means, go ahead and purchase the CMP16TR. But if you're seeking a high-quality ceiling medallion that will enhance the beauty of your home, I implore you to steer clear of this calamity of a product.
