Weber® Replacement Charcoal Cooking Grate for 18" Kettle Grills

Used this in my Weber Smoky Mountain. I put this grate on top of the existing grate with the bars 90 degrees from the other. Prevents small pieces of charcoal from ending up in the bottom of the smoker unburned.

This is NOT a 18" grate, it is a 13.5" (charcoal level) grate for an 18" (top cooking grate) grill. That said, it is built well/durable and made with thicker wire, which is nice. It is a perfect replacement for smaller grills. Unfortunately, in my searching, I got lost in the verbiage of grills vs grates and missed the measurement descriptions... this is NOT for a round 22" weber grill(top grill measurement) like I have.

Straightforward good product

This replacement charcoal grate is a simple but useful way to extend the life of a compatible Weber grill. The 13.5-inch size fits well in an 18-inch grill, and the grate feels sturdy enough to hold charcoal without bending or warping easily during normal use. The design allows air to circulate underneath the coals, which helps with maintaining a consistent fire. Installation is straightforward, especially if you are replacing an old or rusted grate. Only downside is that like any steel grill grate, it may eventually show signs of rust or wear if it is left exposed to moisture. Overall, this is a practical replacement part that fits well, is easy to install, and performs as expected. It’s affordable, lightweight, and hold up well. It’s a good option if your original charcoal grate is worn out but the rest of your grill is still in good condition.

A must cheap add-on for the WSM 18.5 charcoal grate. It's not as heavy as the original as some have noted, but it does the job. I attached it to the original grate on the underside, but not perpendicular. I wire tied it so that the grates were centered in between the original grates, thereby creating less room for charcoal to fall through than the square openings created by attaching it perpendicular to the original grates. I can't say how much more cook time it adds, however I now go 12 hours easily at 250-285 without having to stir the coal or add more. I haven't needed to go longer than 12 hours, but easily could based upon the amount of coal still in the grate. Previously was at 10-12 hours at 225-265, but that included stirring the chamber at times, and occasionally having to add a few more briquettes. I'm sure attaching it perpendicular works well too, but you create less room for the coal to fall through by running the grate horizontally off-centered from the original grate.

Solid... I put this criss crossed 90 degree on top of the other original bottom grate. This keeps the smaller semi-done charcoals from easily falling through. I grill a ton. Over time, it will save me money. And when I clean the bottom, I am just dumping out dust... not little chunks which I then of course had fished out with hands.. making a mess.

It worked for a while but the rust eventually got to it. Replaced it with a better (and more expensive) stainless steel version.

Purchased this heavy duty Stainless steel grid for use on top of a cast grill plate, on a gas BBQ, to keep the meat off the plate. Perfect diameter, and does what I wanted. Much easier to remove it for cleaning in the dishwasher, than the actual BBQ plate.

It was as if it was the original new part.
