I have purchased 7 of these in various configurations. Really good quality. No issues with putting any of them together. The joints are perfect and end up making it square every time. The frames are very high quality. I feel like they are the exact same frames you get from Mann Lake. I will purchase several more. This is my favorite source for a complete hive. I’m blown away by the quality of the components. About half the price of a similar config from Mann Lake and way better quality.

UNWAXED on the shipping box is a little confusing. Since the foundations are waxed and the hive boxes are not. Other than that confusion, I would buy again.

Wow, wasn’t prepared for the brimming full box of “Lincoln Logs.” This is definitely for a carpenter with small hammers and time for assembly.

I love these hives. We have bought 3+ from this seller. They are easy to assembly, smell lovely and and great for painting ir wood burning. We had an issue with part of one hive and the seller was very responsive and fantastic to work with!

I got my first hive when I was in high school, 1980. I grew my apiary to about 20 hives and had them for 20+ years. But, at that point it became more work than fun. Life was busy so I sold everything. Now retiring, I decided to get another hive. I have to say that in all my years of beekeeping, this is the best built hive I have ever owned. All the fittings are tight. All the angles are perfect. All the bee space measurements are right on the money. I plan to add 1 more hive next year and I'll be back to BeeCastle. The only problem was, the entrance reducer is cut wrong. Both holes are on the same side so, your only option is to have the small hole and the larger hole in use at the same time. Not a big deal. I made one correctly. I bought the plain wood model. I know that organic, not exposing the bees to paint is all the rage but, I've never had dry latex paint harm bees or reduce honey production more than forcing bees to spend the day gathering water to cool a dark colored hive. There's a reason commercial operations and professionals have white hives.

I liked that the kit came with everything necessary to set up your hive, to include screws and nails. The wood is from pine and is a bit soft but should last as long as you’re not handling it too roughly. Some of the cuts were not as clean as I would have liked. I had to use sandpaper to get some of the dovetail corners to mesh together properly. Overall, I am happy with the cost/quality of the product.
