It works fine with both and I can not see an instant where it would not work. You can bang it into a wooden plank to use it (say 2 foot of 9"x1") or straight into a wooden shed workbench. I have used it outside by nailing it into a large log around where I was working.I wouldn't hesitate to buy one, cheap and easy to carry around. I only have a husky 137 so unsure how well it will do with a much bigger saw.
