Mayatex Apache Saddle Blanket

Is this saddle blanket very soft? I am thinking of using on my sofa, but wonder if it it too rough and/or scratchy.

Is this blanket very sturdy? Does is wrinkle when putting on a horse like the less expensive blankets do and need to "pet" it to straighten wrinkles?

I was thinking of using this to reupholster a bench. How thick is it? Is it pliable?
