CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: The Complete Series

To start with the service provided by the vendor through Amazon was superb - prompt, accurate and secure. The product was exactly as advertised - it was the two-hour special finale of the show after its 15 season run - my first try a different vendor sent me the right box with one disk from season 15 in it. Virtually all of the series primary characters (including some favorite intermittent ones such as Lady Heather) put in appearances (the notable exception was George Eads' character Nick Stokes, who had gone off to San Diego to head up their Criminalistics lab a few episodes before). Many of their personal relationships and futures were untangled and aimed in encouraging directions. In all an enjoyable reunion of the characters in celebration of a show that held our interest for fifteen years and long after. The actual criminal activities and the investigation were rather routine - most of it had been done before (and frequently better) in past episodes [I sussed out the villain, method and the motive before the first hour was ended]. But what the hey? But it was mostly a frame for nostalgic character revisits, references to past events (one of the Casinos that gets bombed is now Catherine's), sly in-jokes (Hodges and Henry are still at it) and a final cast portrait before the show closed. I tuned in to see the whole creation all wrapped up with a pretty red ribbon and this did a pretty darn good job.

I have enjoyed watching as I really loved the character development and the actors. I might need to purchase a new DVD player as the last several discs I tried to watch stated that the Disc could not be played. Disappointing as I am not sure if it is the Disc or my dvd player. As I have had it for a while, I have decided to up grade and purchase a new one. I am alerting anyone who purchases this that there may be a defect in the discs! However, if you have a new DVD player you will really love this series. Having the discs, I can watch it any time I want and when it is most convenient for me. This group was the whole series so you will really enjoy watching! Wonderful purchase.

I agree with the reviewer who said the Finale should be part of the Final Season. Just a way to make more money I guess as I've heard that if you ordered the whole set of this series you still don't get the Finale. So, what is that all about. I was surprised that Gil didn't look any better or at least that he didn't shave most of the time. And, at the end, REALLY, is she going off on a boat with him to save sharks? That falls under the title "you've got to be kidding". Hard enough to imagine that he was content to live his life doing that but he was always weird. Lovable, interesting but weird. Nobody liked Fen much but to just leave her lying in a hospital bed in iffy condition seemed a bit harsh. And, I always thought that Hodges and the Sheriff's daughter would get together. Would have helped the finale along a bit. All in all, it was an o.k. Finale. Not great but they were limited on what they could do that hadn't already been done I guess. Still the best series there has ever been on t.v.

Amazon has corrected the problem in the copies they sell and ship. As for the 2-hr finale special of CBS' crime drama CSI (in my opinion, the show that influenced the greater part of American television 2000 onward, for better or worse): Immortality Part I & 2 was a bittersweet farewell to the series I have watched for exactly half my lifespan. ***MILD SPOILERS AHEAD*** Grissom, Catherine and Capt. Brass return (how could you properly end this 15-year show without them?) to help solve a final case involving Lady Heather (see episodes 208, 315, 615, 723, 905 and 1119), but I am disappointed that George Eads (Nick Stokes, one of the only characters to stay with the show the entire 15-season run) wasn't part of it. But Catherine's daughter Lindsey returns in a surprise way and Grissom is able to pass on some further forensic crime solving wisdom to yet another generation. It was an odd mix of the 'Old CSI' with Gil Grissom & Catherine Willows, and the 'New CSI' with DB Russell & Morgan Brody, but characters from both regimes (Sara Sidle, Greg Sanders, Doc Robbins and "Super Dave" Phillips) helped to bring them together in a story that was fulfilling for me as a fan. A solid finish even if I never cared for the whole Grissom-Sara-Lady Heather off-and-on love triangle. In any event, if you claim to be a CSI fan of any calibre, you owe it to yourself to see the finale, even if you end up just feeling that twinge of regret over the passing of CSI... All good things must come to an end.

I actually went through the entire collection and watched every episode. Not a bad disk in the collection. And I enjoyed the end-of-the-year wrap up at the end of each season. Watching an episode with the comments on wasn't satisfying as the dialogue among the participants didn't add much to the stories being told. But if you are a fan, you will want this collection. What was upsetting was the wrap up for what turned out to be the final season, showed that no one expected the series to be cancelled as there were plans being laid for a season that was never to be. The "movie" that was done to tie up loose ends for the dedicated fan was poorly written and close to unwatchable. Yes, everyone was accounted for but fans deserved a better conclusion to what was a top series.

Pleased with purchase & receipt of CIS: The Finale.

It was a very nostalgic thing watching the finale of CSI, "Immortality"... it was great, as usual, with excellent acting, writing, and effects, but also bittersweet, knowing there would be no more new episodes of this series again! I am so glad that characters Gil Grissom and Catherine Willows returned- they brought the spark back with them that only they had, which was missing since they left the show. They also have one of the series' best one-liners from Catherine, to Grissom. My only real complaint was that the character of Nick Stokes did not return, but I'm sure there were reasons, and it was still a strong, fulfilling ending. (Additionally, my favourite character, Greg Sanders, survived the whole series! Whoo!) I highly recommend this for the collection of CSI fans. **(I have seen many people complaining that this was not included with the Season 15 collection, but why would it be? This is NOT part of Season 15. Season 15 ended before the series was cancelled, and "Immortality" aired when what would have been the Season 16 premier, had the series continued. Instead, they gave us a proper two-hour series finale.)**
