Review: From big gulps to happy slow feeding - Being Labrador/ cocker spaniel cross my dog is always hungry for food and games. He gulps down his kibble in seconds from a bowl so the slow feeder puzzle keeps him busy for longer. A good tip is to add ice cubes that slow the rotation until they have melted. The 3 tiers come apart for cleaning by squeezing 2 sections underneath the bottom tray and then stack in its central column. I’ve bought several of these now for friends dogs and am often asked where to get them when I share my dinner in the slow feeder in cafes and restaurants My own is still going strong from well over a year with its robust design. The puzzle isn’t too frustrating (he has just demolished another design that was too vexing) for just the right amount of intrigue of what’s in other layers
Review: Simple To Use - Easy to use, easy to clean puzzle. Just put the treats in one or all of the three layers and let your dog spin the layers around to get access to the treats. Feels well constructed too. It's not cheap plastic. This is not the most complex puzzle (Medium Level 2 for this brand) but the two dogs I watched use it, had lots of fun using it (a Terrier mix, and a Lab/Beagle mix). The terrier had shown no interest in other puzzles or games like this. This is good mental enrichment for your dog, even if your dog eats the several treats you put in each layer, within 30 seconds (as I observed!). You can, obviously put all your dogs meal in here and it may take a bit longer to get out, especially if the food is not kibble, if it's soft food. The three layers have different shaped compartments too, so this is a bit like a liki-mat experience as well, your dog licking on different textures on each level. Don't forget that even when it's empty, if your dog is looking for treats/food in it, it's using it's brain and nose and doing something interesting. It's still getting a bit of mental enrichment. So don't hide it/tidy it away when it's empty! Maybe your dog will just enjoy spinning the layers around. That might be a bit for it. If you were to randomly put a few pieces of food in it, especially, say, when your dog wasn't around to see you do it, then I suspect your dog would be more stimulated to check the puzzle more regularly. What could be more fun than finding a surprise treat in there?

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is there any reason this wouldnt be suitable for cats too? I have a very clever cat who gives me a paw when asked who i think might enjoy this...?**
A: If your cat uses his nose to hunt out treats then it could work. However the pieces are quite chunky so it’s whether he/she is able to flick them out of place to retrieve the food. My dogs tend to lift them with their teeth or paw at until they dislodge. I will see if one of my cats can do it! Perhaps the less robust Trixie brand of dog games might be more suitable for cats as the pieces in some of those are more lightweight and easier to dislodge.

**Q: Would a golden retriever be able to use the Twister or would his paws be too big?**
A: It is suitable for dogs of all sizes, they use their paws, nose and/or mouth.

**Q: Would this be suitable for a greyhound?**
A: I expect it would be fine. They're clever dogs but my Labrador enjoys it even though he figured it out quickly. And you can make it a little harder using the bone shaped covers

**Q: Would this be suitable for a 6 month old labrador? ☺️**
A: Personally for a 6 month old puppy, I would start off on level one. The multi puzzle you are looking at is level 4. I started my gsd on level 1 the dog smart composite toy. She mastered it in about 10 minutes, but she had a better idea what to do on level 2 before progressing to level 3 & 4.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Indestructible
*by E***R on 24 July 2026*

This product is chew-proof! My dog has torn up loads of “indestructible” products but this one is heavy duty. It’s easy to take apart to clean. The only issue is that it only takes my dog ~5 minutes to go through all the compartments, I wish it took her more time
