Can I use it if I purchase a USB-C adapter ? And it will still work?

It would probably work, but they also sell them that have USB-C connectors, so I would just by one of those instead.

There is another one on here for $50. Yubikey5 , besides this being 50% cheaper , are these the same keys?

No. The YubiKey 5 has more functionality than the Security Key. The Security Key only supports FIDO U2F / FIDO 2. The YubiKey supports much wider range of authentication methods, but if you only need the ones supported by this key then you can save a lot instead of buying YubiKey 5.

Does this plug into a regular USB port?

It only fill 1/2 the USB slot, but it works as advertised.
