Threw it in the garbage!
I threw the book in the garbage after reading the first 50 pages. It was really disappointing. No new ideas, same old stuff.

A repackage of well known Stoic concepts
Technically the whole book is about: thinking will only bring negative emotions so you should stop thinking and let whatever thoughts come to your mind. Overly simplistic without acknowledging the complexities of human emotions and psychological conditions. Stop thinking just feels impractical for dealing with real life problems. Lack of practical advices: though the book discusses the importance of not getting caught up in negative thought patterns, it falls short on providing concrete strategies to achieve this.

Must read book
This book is a simple yet powerful about how our thoughts create much of our suffering. The author explains that overthinking, not external circumstances, is often the root of our stress and unhappiness. It clearly explains complex mental patterns in a very easy and relatable way. It encourages readers to step back from their thoughts instead of constantly analyzing them. The message is straightforward but surprisingly impactful. Overall, it’s a great read for anyone who struggles with overthinking and wants a fresh perspective on peace of mind.

Good read
A nice read, Joseph Nguyen’s Don’t Believe Everything You Think is a refreshing and transformative guide to understanding the mind. Its core insight, “Thinking is the root cause of all suffering,” invites deeper awareness beyond habitual thoughts. My favorite line is, “Goals created by inspiration, not by desperation, is the real goal,” which beautifully captures the book’s empowering spirit. Nguyen blends simple psychology with practical wisdom, showing how overthinking fuels stress and how clarity emerges when we detach from mental noise. Concise, relatable, and actionable, it offers lasting guidance for personal growth, inner peace, and meaningful change—an impactful read for anyone seeking mental freedom.
