Lutron FSQ-2FH-DK Electronics Rotary On/Off Fan-Speed Control, 1 White and 1 Ivory Knob Included

Bought this to try on a Broan bathroom fan that is so loud no one wanted to use it. This 3 speed switch fixed the problem by slowing the fan speed. On 1 the fan is silent, on 2 you can barely hear the fan, on 3 the fan is back to its annoying original pitch. Easier than replacing the fan.

This is like the one that came with the house 28 years ago and still works just fine. I changed the control from the pull chain on the fan to the wall switch, which already had a separate switches for the fan's light and fan. They say installation takes only minutes but that's if you have a simple switch box with 1 or 2 switches. Mine is a 4-gang switch box and the wiring was convoluted. I had to use a multi-meter to determine where the power was coming from. Once I had that the rest was pretty easy. The control has just 3 wires; 2 black and 1 green. Turn off the power, remove the old switch and connect its 2 black wires to the new switch with the supplied wire nuts, connect the green wire to ground, install the switch and cover plate, turn the power on and you're done.

These were just about half the cost here than the big box stores, delivered quick and easy to install. Of course if you’re unsure how to install it, consult an electrician before installing. Anyway it works perfectly.

Install was easy and it came with all of the parts necessary. There are 3 settings on it but both low and high seem to be the same speed on my fan. Not sure why. Medium is the highest actual fan speed as far as rotations go. Probably just the old fan I'm trying to use it on and really, the "medium/actually high" setting is what I want the fan at anyways, so not a huge deal for me.

These controllers with set speeds of Low, , medium, and High tend to be more durable than infinite ones. This one has something I’ve never seen before. When turning it from off clockwise, the speeds increase like normal, but after the high position is another off position. Not a big deal, just a heads up.

I am very happy that I purchased the Lurton FSQ-2FH-DK. The three speed control was easy to install and the directions are very thorough. (Note: I worked as an electrician’s assistant for a while and believe anyone can easily install the controls). I believe all in all it took about 7 minutes to install. The directions walk you through the process of removing the old switch and installing the new controls. One of the features I like the most about the controller is that it has wiring pre-installed in it which makes the installation easier because you don’t have to stretch or manipulate the existing wiring everywhere in the box. I’ve installed others in the past that made it difficult to install and required adding another 6” of wiring to each connection in order for everything to fit properly. I literally removed the old switch, wired them together, tucked the wires in easily and neatly, and tested the light. I set the fan switch itself to Hi at the fan which allows me to control the speeds correctly at the wall. The control comes with two colored knobs, wire nuts and mounting screws. You don’t need anything else. The switch was easily installed in a 3-gang box behind a 3-gang switch wall plate. It did not require replacing the wall plate. The control has Off, Hi, Med, Low, Off on it. I recommend the Lutron FSQ-2FH-DK.

Easy to use, straightforward control for a ceiling fan. I always want the fan control separate from just an on-off switch, where you then must go over to the fan and adjust speed and lights. This is a simple control, and unlike the slide-up-and-down style, doesn't have any crevices to collect dust and turn yellow with age. You receive both an off-white and a white knob; use whichever matches your switchplate color. Local stores have mostly remote controlled fans nowadays; remotes are a bad idea in our house where things get lost.

Works good on high ,medium is low and low barely turns the fan ,so buy a better one

The device works okay but I found that the slow speed is very slow and the medium speed is a bit too fast. No adjustments available.
