Works great on both original Genesis consoles and PC, but NOT Genesis Mini!
Not much else to say besides what is in the review title. If you're looking for another controller for your Sega Genesis Mini, do NOT buy this; it doesn't work with the Mini. It DOES, however, work great on both PC and original Sega Genesis consoles, as well as the vast majority of Sega Genesis "clone" consoles that have a 9-pin controller] port. For those wondering, YES, it does have a Mode button, and it's positioned in exactly the same place as it is on the original Sega Genesis 6-button controllers (where the "R" button) would be on a modern controller. I got it for cheap while it was on sale for like $15, so I'm happy with it, but I don't think I would've gone as high as $20 for it, because, again, it does NOT work with the Genesis Mini, but the d-pad works and feels great, as do the buttons, so it's a well-built piece of hardware. Just a shame it doesn't work on the Mini...

Get controller
This is a great controller! The art is beautiful and the construction feels solid. It works just fine when plugged into the PC. However, it does not work with the SEGA Genesis mini, FYI. If you are looking for a replacement original Genesis controller, a PC controller or even something cool to show off, this is a fine choice.

It works for the Steam MegaDrive Classics
I bought this guy to play my collection of officially liscensed Sega games on steam. Even though it is not black like the three and six button I had as a kid, I would loved to have a Street Fighter 2 controller when I was younger, it works as well as I had hoped when ordering it. Missing a star for the D-pad, it works fine, but just a wee bit off for my tastes/memory. Well worth your money.

Great controller
The controller works as good as it looks.Very good response and the dpad works smooth and quick.Had no issues in street fighter.Maximum Carnage had very fat responsive punches and kicks.Mortal combat fatalities were as as easy as you can do them.Aside from user error lol.Definitely recommended.

I used the shell with an 8BitDo MD Mod Kit. universal BlueTooth.
This is a mediocre controller out of the box, but it has the potential to be a serviceable and no nonsense custom fight pad with a little bit of effort that looks, feels and plays nicer than most boxed controllers and works on modern platforms.8BitDo sells a drop in BlueTooth equipped circuit board replacement for the Genesis 6 button controller and it 95% fits this RetroBit controller's shell. The buttons and d-pad from the OEM controller feel MUCH nicer. The d-pad nestles nicely in it's home without rubbing the sides or bottoming out. Since the Retrobit button holes have a smaller tolerance the OEM buttons don't rattle around. They are also more shallow and sit much lower on the face of the controller so your thumb glides right over them.I used the mushy OEM d-pad membrane for smooth rolls but kept the stiffer RetroBit button membrane for nice confirming pops.I did have to do a little sanding on the buttons/holes and added a touch of lithium grease to get them to slide like butter on glass. I had to glue a tiny piece of plastic on the bottom of the 'mode' button to reach the tactile switch. I also added some modeling clay to the inside of the controller jusg to give it some overall heft and balance.

DOA - Giving a second chance via return and replacement. Lemon Lawed. Will update upon receipt of Replacement.
Delivery was quick. Out of the box it feels light, lighter than comparative Gensis/MasterSystem controllers such as Hyperkin. The graphics and appearance of the controller is pleasing (bonus, this is not a laminate / sticker label graphics on plastic). The D-Pad has the classic 'mush' feel to it as opposed to the more modern deliberate 'click' style that is common with Microsoft (X-box) / Logitech style gamepads (THIS IS A PLUS). The 'clicky-ness' feel of the aforementioned more expensive controllers impacts retro style gameplay. I purchased this product for my recent Raspberry Pi build due to the odd feel of emulating Gensis/MasterSystem games on a SNES styled gamepad. The interface / buttons of the controller feel good to the touch and reminiscent of the response and resistance from the original Gensis Gen II (6 button + mode) controllers. UNFORTUNATELY, when I first plugged into my Pi and began to configure the controller I could not compete the configuration. The system was continuously picking up on signals from the Z and Y buttons. I examined the controller and was able to eliminate a physical interference (structural design or damage sticking the buttons to the actual board prematurely causing a closed circuit). I examined the board itself and observed signs of shorting on the circuit pathways of the board. The current status of this purchase is I have sent through USPS the return (RMA) for the controller. I am pleased that I am not expected to cover return shipping costs for a product that retails under $20.00. I am also pleased that there is a 30 day window to complete the return. I will update this review upon receipt of the replaced controller.I have rated this product 2 stars because it shows potential to being a well constructed and budget friendly gamepad specific to SEGA gameplay. There is a much smaller market for SEGA inspired gamepads in the current market compared to NES/SNES and PS4/X-box stylized gamepads. I recently received the Hyperking GN6 gamepad, and upon receipt of the replaced Retro-Bit Genesis controller I will update this review for comparative purposes as well.**For RetroPie and other emulator / ROM fans**I did notice upon initial configuration through RetroPie (EmulationStation) GUI that the input configuration detection identifies this controller as a 11 button generic controller, as opposed to specific brand/model detection when one configures a PS3/4, Logitech, Microsoft, or 8BITDO controller. I have not attempted to configure the Hyperkin GN6 controller as of time of this review but I will provide a review of said controller in the appropriate product review.**My experience with RetroPie and retro gamepads (USB) - 4 Pi Builds specific to emulation, many more for other purposes (Basic Linux Desktop usage and Simple Networking purposes)** The current build where I attempted to utilize this Retro-Bit Gensis controller is:Raspberry Pi 3 B+ (5v - 0.2A 10x30x30mm mini fan and ABS case incl. heat sinks)SanDisk Ultra Plus 64gb class 10 card w/ RetroPie 4.3.17 image (required for use on 3 B+)2.5A power supply10" Eyoyo 1920x1200 HDMI monitor***Purchased Raspberry Pi 3 B+ w/ PSU and spare heat sinks from CanaKit via Amazon***

it felt just like an original genesis 6 button controller
Only used this about 10 times or so and it already is having problems on PC. It says Button 6 is being pressed down the whole time. As far as how the controller feels, it felt just like an original genesis 6 button controller. So I am honestly sad that it's not working properly anymore.

Does not work with JVC X'eye
Overall the controller is very convenient. It is about 85-90% the overall quality and feel of an original 6-button controller. In terms of compatibility through USB, I have been able to register it to both a PC and a SOC computer (Raspberry Pi). In terms of compatibility for the sega genesis controller port, I have used it successfully on a Sega Genesis Model 2. I can confirm that it does not work with a JVC X'eye. I have not tried it with a Sega Genesis Model 1 or 3.

Up on dpad does not work on the Sega Genesis but the USB works fine on my PC
I bought this specifically to use with my Sega Genesis and it didn't work. I purchased another version from retro bit just the standard Sega one and it works amazing it's durable. Very unfortunate this one was broken I want to order another one in the future but it was expensive so I'll wait. I had to purchase three different controllers before I had one that functioned properly.
