Upon seeking advice from an expert we have now corrected this and will re-manufacture this discTrack 9 – ‘That’s The Way I Like It’ (Dub)Issue – plays the same as Track 12 – ‘Keep That Body Strong (That’s The Way)’.Despite being extremely similar, these versions are different. We understand that the (Dub Version) was an earlier version of ‘Keep That Body Strong’. From a historical perspective, we are keeping this in place.Disc 3 – Youthquake – CD1Issue – plays in MonoIssue – Track 12 – ‘My Heart Goes Bang’ (7' Version) plays the same as album versionWe have corrected the mono error and are remanufacturing this discWe have sourced a new master for ‘My Heart Goes Bang’ (7' Version)Disc 4 – Youthquake – CD2Issue – plays in MonoIssue – Track 4 – My Heart Goes Bang [American WIPE-OUT Mix]Issue – Track 8 – You Spin Me Round [Big Ben Mix]. Sounds like it’s a reconstruction, using a clean intro (lifted from the Performance Mix), and a clean 7' single version, with the bells/chimes in between coming from a crackly vinyl sourceWe have corrected the mono error and are remanufacturing this discTrack 4 – My Heart Goes Bang [American WIPE-OUT Mix] should actually be listed as an ‘Edit’. The full length mix has never been released on CD, however at present we are unable to source a master with the full, unedited 6:45 duration.Issue – Track 8 – You Spin Me Round [Big Ben Mix] – We were supplied an analogue tape by Sony. We believe the chimes may have been lifted from another source and edited to create this unique mix at the time of production.Disc 6 – Mad, Bad, And Dangerous To Know – CD1Issue – There is an awkward gap between ‘Then There Was You’ and ‘Come Inside’ on the original album sequence.Issue – ‘Brand New Lover’ (Edit) appears to be slower than any other version. The segue between Tracks 4 & 5 has been fixed and we are remanufacturing this discWe have sourced a replacement master for ‘Brand New Lover’ (Edit)Disc 8 – Rip It Up – CD1Issue – Track 13 ‘Something In My House’ (Short Version) should be an edit of the album version but plays the 7' remix. We have sourced a replacement master of the 3.57 “7” short version” and we are remanufacturing this discDisc 12 Fan The Flame (Part 1)Issue – Track 1 ‘Fan The Flame’ (feat. Gina X) / Track 2 ‘Unhappy Birthday’.Steve Coy included this version of ‘Fan The Flame’, as it was previously unreleased and acts as an opening prelude for the album, which was re-sequenced. Track 1 now segues seamlessly into Track 2 ‘Unhappy Birthday’, which was the original Track 2 on the 1990 Japanese release.Disc 14 – Nukleopatra – CD2Issue – Tracks 1 and 6 ‘Rebel Rebel’ are exactly the same (they should be different mixes).Issue – Track 12 should be ‘International Thing’ (NU-NRG 12' Remix) but plays the album version.Track 6 is ‘The Hole Mix’, whereas Track 1 is an earlier shorter version of that mix. Track 1 and 6 are identical up until 6:10-ish. Track 1 has an “UGH!” at this point and ends abruptly. Track 6 has no “UGH!”, and starts to fade out instead… so they’re the same mixes, with very slight differences to the endings. We have sourced a replacement master of the 7.02 ‘International Thing’ (NU-NRG 12' Remix) and we are remanufacturing this discDisc 18 and 19 – DVD 1 & 2Issues – Cropped, freezing issues. We have gone back to the source masters and fixed all of these issues and are re-authoring these discs. We would also like to highlight that in the process of putting together this set we have used the Sony and Steve Coy masters. There are no MP3s and vinyl rips used.So the December batch will have the corrected CDs in them so i recommend you buy it.I will change this to 5 stars as soon as my replacements arrive. When this parcel arrived i thought i had been sent the Vinyl Box set as it was so huge. The box set is perfect and excellent quality, albeit a few errors on the CDs so far.Sophisticated Boom Boom (CD 1) end of I'd Do Anything repeats the "I would do do do do do" which is wrong."Youthquake" CD 1 has duplicate Album Version of My Heart Goes Bang (Track 8 is correct) but Track 12 should be the 7" Version which was the 7" single version but instead it is actually the Album Version.CD1 & CD2 of "Youthquake" are in Mono and Edsel have said they will replace them.Mad, Bad, And Dangerous To Know has a glitch where "Then there Was You" mixes into "Come Inside" It starts to mix in, then a gap, then it continues.Their reply to me was as followsEdsel Hi Paul, this has now been extensively checked. We can confirm that no gap has been found on the masters or on the finished disc when played though a CD player. Sometimes whilst listening to CDs via iTunes or other electronic media, a gap can occur as it reads the data differently (the duration of tracks on iTunes shows that they are 2 seconds longer than they actually are). Regarding the problems present on Youthquake CDs1 & 2, please accept our sincere apologies and rest assured that these errors are being rectified as a matter of urgency. We will communicate how to get your replacement discs as soon as possible.See the videos i made of this error here [...]The Promo Videos DVD is cropped beyond belief and only in 4:3 where as the Evolution DVD has them in better quality and not cropped out and played perfect in 16:9Other than that, this is so worth the money.Hopefully Edsel can sort out the mistakes and send replacement discs to everyone, and make sure future pressings aren't messed up like these ones. This should be perfect & the errors need sorting out now that it is a tribute our SPECIAL STAR; Pete Burns.Rest in Peace Pete.We all love & miss youxxx

A Dead Or Alive Box Set Of Perfection

*by D***L on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 November 2016*

Updated review 13th December 2016...All of the replacement discs arrived today and I have to say kudos to Demon Music for responding to the issues and organizing repressings in such a timely manner. Whilst it's true that the errors with this box set should not have occurred in the first place it takes quite an effort to acknowledge them and set about fixing them so credit where it is due. Almost all the errors (see below for the remaining problem) that were noted have been fixed and this includes correcting the video aspect ratio problems on some of the dvd content. This has resulted in errors on the previously released Evolution dvd also being fixed and now presented in either full frame image or 16:9 widescreen. Excellent! What follows is an updated re-write of my original review reflecting the new discs.I received my set today in pristine condition (very carefully packed with signed photo...Thanks Pete xxx) , check! All discs look ok with no scratches, check! The package and booklet all ok, check! There were many errors across both the audio and video discs of this set. All mistakes previously noted have been rectified and this is now a five star set of Dead Or Alive albums with an abundance of bonus content nicely presented in a large 12 " x 12" hardback book style folio (see attached images). There is enough content here to keep even the hardest of fans happy for quite some time with the majority of audio discs running well past the one hour mark and close to three hours of video across the two dvd's.The audio discs for the most part are a nice anthology of Dead Or Alive encompassing the albums with Epic Records (Sophisticated Boom Boom to Nude) and the largely big in Japan years that followed. There was one glaring omission from the audio discs and I guess it was down to licensing. The absence of the original versions of "

" recorded with Italo dance outfit Glam in the 90's. This track, first released in 1994 really signified a return to the clubs for Pete and is a huge part of his story in my memory as well as quite a sizeable dancefloor hit. It's a shame it couldn't be included but the re-do with Dead Or Alive is here in all the relevant versions including a stomping remix by Australian DJ Pee Wee Ferris.I'm pretty happy with all the content on the promo videos dvd however I believe there is still a minor cropping issue with the Rip It Up live concert video. I checked the image against both the originally released VHS and the bonus content on the

]. On my 40" Sony panel the image from the VHS and Evolution DVD measures 26" in width, the standard for 4:3 video. The image on the Boom Box DVD is considerably less coming in at just under 24". At least the image is not squashed and thankfully ALL the BBC performances also included on this disc look and sound amazing for vintage video presentations. No cropping issues for any of the BBC content. I would've liked to have taken half a star off for the Rip It Up picture error but I can't. The rest of the content most definitely warrants a five star review. And anyway aside from these small problems in a big world scenario, R.I.P. Pete Burns, a one of a kind Freek Unique that will be sadly missed. This set is a testament to pursuing your vision no matter what. xxxxx"I Send A Sloppy Kiss To You Hah!... "
