Noise-Cancelling Headphones

I have very little experience with NCE's other than what they lend you on business class flights. After some deliberation I decided to buy some of my own for train journeys.What I liked - PhysicalThe packaging, the physical quality of the product, The fact that they use a standard battery for the NC element, The leads are flat and easy to handle, the traveling case (But this could use a clip of some kind to attach it to hand baggage).Not liked so much - PhysicalCans are a bit too small for full ear enclosure (No, I am not a Prince Charles look alike), I needed full adjustment on the band and a lot of messing before I found a comfy position.Sound quality - Here is the strange part, I found sound quality better in NC mode. Without NC I found the sound to me a bit muffled. I do suffer from tinitus so this may be why.NC effect - Pretty good, you don't enter a world of silence but it takes a good deal of the edge off of whatever is bugging you.Value for money? - For £72.00 they sit at around 80% on the VFM scale for me

Pretty disappointed with these headphones. There are positives: they're comfortable, they're not too heavy, the noise cancelling does something (I won't pretend it's brilliant, but you can hear the effect), the sound is okay. But the deal breaker for me is that they leak like crazy even at moderate volumes. Returned immediately.

On the positive side, the storage case is very good and protects the headphones well. The headphones are genuinely over-ear and are very comfortable and light weight. I could wear them for long periods. The noise cancellation is rather impressive. I think they will be good to wear on a plane while having a sleep. The way that the side twists open to reveal the battery compartment is very neat and easy to use. They are also strong. I am incredibly clumsy and have already dropped them on a hard wooden floor. There is no apparent damage.I have done an A-B comparison with a pair of AKG K702 reference headphones. Perhaps that is a slightly unfair comparison, but the reference headphones are my standard as it were. With the noise cancellation switched on, they sound rather good. I am quite impressed. Some headphones are designed to be base heavy, which I hate. These are not like that. The response sounds nice and flat.The only negative that I can find is that with the noise cancellation switched off, the sound quality is quite dreadful. The sound is boomy, base heavy and muddy. You definitely need to make sure that you carry a spare battery. This is not a big issue as there is room in the case for a spare battery. I could not listen to music using them without a battery under any circumstances.On balance I think they are excellent value and will be great for use on public transport.

They are nice and light, fit over my ears well. I have a big head, and these only just fit, but don't feel tight.The worst thing about this are the levels of sound leak. I work in an office, and wear these to shut out the outside noise. There is so much sound leak, people nearby can hear my music. I can't blast Amon Amarth as loud as I like!

I originally stated that the black pair suffered from sound leakage. The supplier replaced the black pair with a grey pair. The difference being the grey headphones are completely enclosed so the sound doesn't leak. The headphones are comfortable to wear, sound great and there is hardly any noise. Switching on the noise cancelling feature when no music is playing is very strange the first time. You almost feel like you are in an anechoic chamber or your ears have suddenly stopped working. I've yet to try them on a aeroplane - the ultimate test, but will use them the next time I travel on the London Underground and update the review. Standing outside and listening to classical music was great, I could hear the music and no traffic noise.While these aren't a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort QC25's they are about £140 cheaper. Whether the Bose are worth an extra £140 is open to question and personal preference.

Good value for money sound is crisp, bass is good and noise reduction excellent. No need to spend hundreds

Just returned from a business trip involving 13 flight in 7 days and I can not imagine to travel without them ever in the future.They are very comfortable with memory foam and I had them on for more than 10 hours with very little discomfort.The annoying flight noise you normally hear are almost gone. I checked out a lot of reviews before I bought them and for the price I think its great value.

Bought these headphones to use whilst travelling on long haul flights. Found them very comfortable for prolonged periods. They cancelled out a lot of the engine noise and general noise from other passengers. Very happy with them.
