Is the lid insulated?

36 qt cooler is 100% NOT insulated. You can see right though it when held up to the light.

What are the outside dimensions?

9x17 wide, 101/2 deep, works great for iceing fish.

Anyone try putting expando spray foam inside the lid (it's hollow from factory)?

On youtube there are several vids on cooler improvements. One person got some 1" thick rigid foam and put in the cooler then sealed with aluminum HVAC tape. I would improve on that a get a piece of that rigid 4x8 foam with reflective surface from Lo__es. I think it's called polytherm and it's a light green color. The reflectivity along with the isulation may give 1-2 days longer ice retention. I think it was under 10 bucks.

Does the 94qt have latches?

Yes it does. Check them out closely though, one of mine was defective.
