Perfect to seal pine wood ahead of staining
Used this to protect the wood I’d just sanded down before adding wood stain. Went in really well and actually added a nice colour and seal to the wood ahead of the stain. Great value for money, a little goes a long way, applied with a cloth and great value for money

Rustins Pre Stain wood conditioner.
Rustins pre stain is a well known make for reliable woodworking. Easy to use , does the job nicely for a good finish on guitar bodies with stain/dye without blotching.

Excellent wood conditioner. I applied using the sponge application. Very easy to use . Although all Rustin's products are fab so I expected nothing less

Works well when it works. Can have slight yellow tinge
Perfect for wood / slow drying. Can gather on the flat but largely reliable. I’ve used this stuff for years for art. Not sure how many tins you’d need to do an actual yacht!

smooth finish but darkens pine
I stained pine wood with a grey dye. I applied this pre stain first and while it did result in a smooth finish, it darkened the colour of the pine, so instead of being grey against blond pine wood the result was grey against a much browner shade of wood grain, which I didn't like the look of and I had to sand it off and start again. So beware if working with a light coloured wood.

This product is very watery so could be messy if not careful, but is easily absorbed into the wood ready for the stain, making the stain a lot less patchy, so does the job
