Dr. Aiden Krone is a former professor of Applied Physics at MIT, notorious for his unrivaled brilliance and obsession with Thermodynamics, Advanced Propulsion, and Quantum Electrodynamics (QED). Despite his increasing tendencies to demand control and secrecy, he became the Founder and Lead Physicist of a classified Time Travel research program. Over a decade later, Krone's program had successfully developed the world's first time-traveling suit technology. However, as the program's equally secretive decision-makers demanded this technology be adapted for military applications, Krone's feelings of self-entitlement and anger grew. He secretly desired a new existence, a new world where his scientific endeavors could be shaped and experienced without outside interference. The combination of Krone's mind and his suit technology gave him the ability to create and control another existence - an existence where a man of science could finally operate without restrictions and do so within a place where science itself was properly respectedยฟ regardless of the effects on humanity. It is now up to you to trace Krone's last known appearances and stop his tyrannical rule over Alpha District. In a twisted world where scientific accomplishments reign, it's up to you to don the Beta Suit and Master Time to Become the Ultimate Weapon. Review: i wonder what the game is like - The main menu is nice looking. Not sure about anything after that as starting a new game hangs the computer. i haven't even seen the first cut scene. i did the standard "i play games on a PC" thing - download latest drivers, instal patches, Google for hours, read the support forums, etc. It seems like spending hours trying to figure out why a game won't work is a part of the PC gaming experience, which as i was reading the 30th "yeah, i get that exact same error but i also can't find a workaround and the company won't respond to forum posts or emails" i realized was pretty sad. Some games crash occasionally (Dark Messiah), some frequenty (SiN Episode 1), some are unconscionably laggy (Mass Effect) and some work perfectly (Half-Life 2, Gears of War, Oblivion, Neverwinter Nights 2, at least on my new computer, etc.). TimeShift is the first one where i have never, ever even seen the game run in any way, shape or form. i wondered why a game so many people said they liked was being sold so cheap. Yes, the game is old, but even old games these days sell for at least $20. Now i know. The game has been out long enough that all tech problems should be patched now but i'm finding plenty of people having problems and all of them have exactly the same error with the same error message that's 100% reproducible and not one person has gotten it working - that sounds to me like the problem that is easiest to solve (widely seen, perfectly reproducible). For the record, my PC is well above min specs. XP 32 bit, dual core 3000, 8800GTX, 4GB RAM, etc. For my part, i think 6 hours is enough of my time trying to make a game work. Considering what i make per hour, this game has wasted enough of my time that i can buy a console where i know the games work. It's not worth making this game worth. It's going in the trash. A recommendation for others that i wish i had thought of earlier - a lot of people are saying the demo for this game freezes. If you're considering this game, find the free demo and see if you can run it. If so, maybe it's worth risking buying this game. Review: Timeshift - PC - does not working on my PC - Windows 8

Timeshift - PC
does not working on my PC - Windows 8

Fun, but a bit short considering the premium price
This game ran well on my 4 year old Pentium 4, 6800 Ultra, machine. The same machine totally choked on Crysis. I felt Timeshift was a little short, less than 10 hours. The play reminded me of the original Half Life with respect to big hokey buttons to push and levers to pull to make things happen. Some of the weapons seemed unsatisfyingly uneffective, with entire clips needed to down an enemy while other weapons were deavestating. The quad vehicle was a joke, at least on my computer, it was very difficult to steer and run, and there was almost no motor sound until you let up on the throttle and then you got a little fart sound. All the other sounds were fantastic (I have a Turtle Beach sound card and 5.1 surround). I had no crashes, the game played smooth and like a movie.

Pretty Fun Game
While, I can't say much about the actual game itself being bad, I had few problems setting it up. For example, I had problems with serial code that is needed to activate the game (you have to enter it very carefully, one at a time to avoid making an error). It helped crashing on my PC, but I later found out it is my PC that had the problem, not the game. Works great now that I fixed it. The game itself is pretty fun. You got plenty of weapons to choose from, but you can only carry three at a time. The ammo seems to be everywhere, so no need to conserve it. There is a limited mobility where you can't explore around too much, but that didn't bother me at all. I also found the stopping "time" concept pretty cool. You get to stop time for few seconds and kill your enemies that way. You have to get somewhere and hide so the "time" thing charges after you use it. This game relies on the "time" concept pretty heavily since it is marketed as an ability that you can posses in the game. if you are not into multiplayer games like I am, and more focused on single player, then this game does not disappoint. You can roam around, pick out enemies from various points, use "time" to help you pick out enemies that are dispersed over larger area. As others have said, crossbow makes it easy to kill the enemy, but just the fact that you can use it is pretty fun. Overall, I would give this game 4 1/2 stars. It is fun, creative, and quite different from you average "Call of Duty" games. Not as great graphics as compared to today's games, but still fun game to play.

I love this game!
I really like playing Timeshift. The graphics are awesome and all the weapons are quite satisfying to use. The timeshifting effects are a nice hook for this very fun first person shooter. I have a lot of adult stress in my life, so when I play a game I do NOT want it to be a hard, difficult and frustrating experience, so I almost always play on the "easy" mode. This was the perfect setting for me in this game, because it allowed me to easily advance through the game, enjoying the topnotch graphics and varied gameplay. There were only a couple places where I got stuck on the time puzzles, and for those I had to go online to find a Walkthrough to help me figure out what to do next. More seasoned gamers will probably figure out these fairly straightforward puzzles without any problem at all. I have no idea how hard this game is to play on the expert setting, so I can only comment that the easy setting was just right for me to relax and enjoy a few hours each night of gunning bad guys. I highly recommend this game and think that under $20 it is a fantastic deal. --eborg
