Not only is this well engineered piece of equipment, but it is sturdy enough to ensure that most school children don't break it. The compass features a lock to enable it to be locked during use; a cover which slides over the spike (when not being used) and has an attachment included to enable ordinary pencils to be used rather than paying for extra graphite nibs.It comes in a well designed case which is only about 10mm deep so can be easily put into a pencil case for school. Pay a little extra and get this as opposed to the 'bog standard' one (which my son had and broke after its first use)

It's a basic compass but a very useful tool for what I needed it for. It is very well made and seems robust enough to last a few years at least. I am surprised that it is priced so low. I am very happy with the product and would definitely recommend it.

Excellent compass set. The lock is easy to use, and it has an integreal lead, which is much better than the variety that uses a pencil holder (although this set also includes an adapter for a normal pencil, should you run out of lead). I bought one for my second child when he started secondary school, then had to buy another for my eldest who said it was far better than the pair of compassess he was using.

I have had one of these before and I have to say it's the easiest lockable compass for general use you can get. Well made, simple design and a handy cover to keep the graphite in perfect condition while rattling around in you pencil case.

Use for woodworking broken old one same model by putting to big lead in tip .used every day for 5 years

Price hike rip off. The Good but at the £3-£4 I paid for it and it wasn’t an offer price…. I purchased one of these this year and it’s ok. The lock feature is good and I like the cover for the point as it’s not then going to poke through the case. The bad …. The attachment for a pen/pencil is really poor fit so you have to pop an elastic band around it to stabilise it. The case is total rubbish, the point is to short and blunt. I did rectify this with some effort. Now, here’s the kicker. It was in competition with others and cost about £3 - £4. Not bad considering it’s faults. The price hike to almost £10 is crazy and it’s an example of to many people not understand a two word review and five stars for good compass helps no one and gives no information. Five stars means no imperfections and absolute longevity at an unbeatable price surely. This is not that. At £3-£4 it’s good. At it’s current price don’t waste your money and get something better.
