So far, I am really pleased with the design and performance of the Calpose 100% brass in-line propane tank gauge. The 3-color coded progress bar (green, yellow and red colors) on the gauge gives me an indication of how much propane is left in the tank based on the outside air ambient temperature, an important feature not found on many other propane gauges. By using this gauge, I can monitor the propane gas level in the tank, so I don’t unexpectedly run out of propane gas during my outdoor grill cooking. One of the most important safety features of this gauge is that has been reviewed and approved by CSA (Canadian Standard Association), a recognized independent testing laboratory and that gives me confidence that this gauge has been analyzed and approved by their safety engineers. I reviewed several of the negative comments about this gauge and my take on it is as follows. Since manufacturer’s operating instructions were not included with this gauge, I feel that many users were not informed on how to properly install and use this gauge. First of all, on the gauge itself, the hand-tightened black knob connections must be securely threaded onto each end, one onto the propane tank itself and the other on to the flexible propane gas line going to the grill, to prevent any propane leaks at these connection points. Secondly, when the propane tank gas is not being used, the propane tank main on/off value should be securely closed, and you should not rely on the grill’s on/off gas valve to hold back the propane gas from escaping from the tank. The only downside to this propane gauge was the fact that there were no manufacturer’s instructions provided on how to install nor properly use this propane gauge nor troubleshoot any operating situations you may have with this gauge. Other than that, it appears to be a good gauge.

Good basic gauge for the price. No more surprises running out of gas when cooking!

When I was living aboard a boat,I learned about the importance of a tank gauge. If you are not going to be using propane for a period of time, for instance a day, you close the tank valve and make a note of the level on the gauge. When you resume the propane use: before opening the tank valve, check the level. If it is not exactly the same as you left it, you know that your system is leaking. FIND OUT WHY because when the valve is open, your living space (or your grill) is filling up with propane. The minor reason to have a gauge, on your grill for instance, is the convenience of knowing when it's time to refill: Before it's empty. This gauge is of acceptable quality and has worked as it should for over a year.

Easy to install. Works great. Stop lifting the tank to figure out how much propane is left. Get one of these.

Having had this gauge for just a few days, I can only state that, so far, I am pleased with this product. Installation was a breeze. As soon as I turned on the propane tank, the gauge showed full (which is correct). I hope it continues to operate as expected.

This model is exactly what I wanted and needed! I had tried another brand, which had a very "compressed" scale at the lower volumes, making that one useless to me. And not only does this Calpose model work properly, but it is also less expensive!
