i’m a mechanical pencil "enthusiast' lol. i buy practically every one i come across looking for a few things. 1) portability i.e., being able to keep it in my pocket and not have it either stab me in the thigh, or break in half. 2) comfort/ergonomics. weight and balance is important. when you write as much as i do hand fatigue becomes an actual issue. 3) build quality. i want to know that this thing, which to be fair is rather expensive for 1 pencil, is going to be able to be fixed should the collet get jammed. well, it checks all of those boxes! the portability issue is solved by the clever design. and bonus, when it's in writing mode the eraser actually gets pushed up, unlike a lot of other pencils where the eraser is constantly getting pushed down into the sleeve. it's SUPER comfortable in hand and out of all of my pencils it's by far the most ergonomic. the build quality is great and only once has the collet jammed on me, which was easy to remedy. i just carefully took it apart completely, cleaned everything, and boom.. back in business. also pro tip: keep the cap on the pocket clip when you're using it and you *probably* won't lose it. that said, other reviewers have said the pencil doesn't work without the cap, which is completely false, it just looks nicer in your pocket with it on edit: almost a year later and still going strong.. i actually purchased another one just in case

Excellent pen for general writing

Really like this pencils Feels good in the hand. Looks great. Mechanism works reliably. The cap snaps over the writing end to protect the lead and your purse. The only thing I don't like is the pocket clip (which I don't use) but makes you have to hold the pencil with it rotated out of the way so it doesn't dig into your hand.

I love my Kerry pencils, I have a few that I keep in my bag for work and a couple at home. These are built very well and are durable. These fit my hand well. I recommend these for anyone looking for a quality pencil that will not break the bank. I have used much more expensive pencils and nothing beats these!

Absolutely love these mechanical pencils. Returned to College at the local State University a couple years ago and bought one for note-taking, etc. Worked for about a year and a half (or so), then the rubber insert in the tip (stabilizes the lead) went whonky for some reason and ended up jamming the pencil. It still worked after I removed the rubber insert, though the lead would slide out quickly when it was advanced since the rubber insert was designed to control that. Had it for another couple of months, and ended up losing it on campus. It upset me so bad, I went and bought two more of these. For ten dollars a piece, it's still worth it when you take into account how durable the pencils are in general, and how well they write. I've actually received compliments from other students on them as well. Nothing major, just impressed at the quality... (i.e. "Wow, Nice, where did you get that"). Would recommend to anyone wanting a high quality mechanical pencil that writes very well and clean. Only real complaint would be the lack of "full size" eraser replacements... they're all the "n" series with are significantly shorter than the original eraser refills. Instead, I use a retractable stick eraser... which works, since I erase a TON... but that's my own issue. (ha ha)

As an accountant, this is the model of Pentel pencil that I have used for many, many years. There is none better for me.

I’ve bought many basic and cheap mechanical pencils over the years but was never quite satisfied with them; this one broke the cycle. I love having the cap to keep my storage cases journals, and bags from getting unwanted lead-markings on them. Also the ability of having the lead extender function when the pencil has the cap attached on top is just fantastic! I would always lose the caps to other pencils - not with this one! I love this pencil so much I bought a second one soon after.

Great mechanic pencil. A bit shiny for me but, as it is the only model I found with a lid for a decent price, I can live with it. 0.5 is great for an always clean writing. I love it and recommend it!
