A New Found Love

What a fabulous read, great story Mariella Starr! This is one of the best I have ever read. There was drama, sadness, hope, and determination. The main character was a strong female that faced tremendous adversity for many years, her male counterpart exhibited caring, devotion, stern when needed & steadfast support. Their relationship was a slowly developed evolution that was perfect. The secondary characters were impactful with underlying stories of their own, that added great dimension to the story. There are no spoilers here, read the synopsis, I hate when the story is retold by the reviewer, it ruins it for me. If you want several hours of reading pleasure, even the sad parts, this is a must read! Thank you Mariella, for one of my best sleepless nights, I couldn’t put it down.

I love Mariella Starr’s works and this is no exception. This book is emotional and got me vested from the first page. This story examines the lives of kidnap victims, how their lives are upended and their fight for survival.This is the extraordinary story of one’s woman’s courage to rise above the shackles of fear and terror.The author has allowed us glimpses into the love story of Jackson and Shannon and doesn’t let up. We are welcomed into the world, suffered alongside with them and cheer them in their trumping of the evil that perpetually hung over their heads.I love how the author also allowed the supporting characters to shine without taking the spotlight away from the protagonists.There was an overuse of the exclamation mark even in sentences and phrases where it wasn’t needed.Also, the description of the H does not match the book cover at all. It has never mattered to me but in this case, representation matters. It's a typical night in the ER for Dr. Jackson Hawkins when an accident victim is brought in acting strangely. Afraid to tell her name, she attempts to hide her identity from everyone. Fortunately a muttered name, puts Jackson on the path to finding her identity. To find out that she was kidnapped as a child and held by a cult, was not what he was expecting. Fortunately for Shannon, Jackson's protective instinct kicks in and he finds himself on a path to protect her from everyone.This is a unique and sweet story. Shannon is a strong female lead. She had a tough childhood, but is determine to get what she wants from her future. Jackson is a nice complement to Shannon. He's fiercely protective, but still willing to let Shannon find her own path in the world. The two characters are both well developed with plenty of bacsktory to help the reader connect. Outside of the two main characters the author provides a host of both friendly and not so friendly supporting characters to keep things interesting. The story itself is very well written and fun to read. I absolutely love a romance that leaves me with an incredibly warm and fuzzy feeling. A New Found Love is the sweet intense passionate story between Shannon and Jackson. Sweet Shannon had lived such an emotional and mentally abusive childhood after being kidnapped by a religious cult. After her escape, Jackson was the ER doctor who cared for her in the hospital. The connection between them both was intense. After the initial drama, everything seemed to settle down and almost become mundane. I should have known better that the story wouldn't just settle into their daily lives. There are many people who need to be dealt with. This is a D/D romance and involves spanking.
