Beautiful book to introduce younger readers to the joy of ballet. My niece loved the musical element and pressing the button. It's about 10 seconds of music so just enough to engage without being overwhelming. The only annoying thing is reading it again and again. A useful introduction to the story before seeing it on stage. Lovely illustrations. A successful purchase and will look to buy others.

We have had lots of these books and this was a gift. Beautiful as always and ever better, it worked! We have had ones before (not from this seller) that haven’t worked. If you’re looking for a special gift, baby shower gift or birthday gift, then these books are truly special.

I really love these books and so do my children. We bought two at Christmas and they're still by the bed being frequently read and played with. The story is good and just the right length for bed time, the music is lovely and is a good introduction for both them and us, I wasn't brought up listening to classical music so simple introductions like this really appeal to me. The illustrations are beautiful and the book has a lovely quality feel to it. The buttons are a little hard to press but once my 3 year old got the hang of it he's been fine, he will also happily go to the back of the book at the end and press all the buttons to listen to the music again.

So pretty. Bought as a gift. Adults love it as much as kid!

Not only does it tell you the story of the nutcracker, but it also plays the music that accompanies that scene! There is a end page with all the music and information about Tchaikovsky and my daughter and I love pressing our favourite songs ( The Sugar Plum Fairy!) Great bedtime story!

From some of the reviews, I was expecting this book to be a bit underwhelming, but it was the opposite for me! I was amazed the moment I took it out of the packaging, it was twice the size I was expecting, and the cover is just absolutely exquisite. Lovely gold foiled details, a fabric-y finish, and such wonderful art, a real cosy festive feel. :) It would make a lovely Christmas gift for little ones. On the inside of the book, the fabulous art got better and better with every page, and the story whilst condensed for children has not lost any of its magic. I was expecting the usual tinny/crackly musical book sound, but the sound quality in this book is superb, it doesn't sound artificial at all, it sounds like you're in a room with an orchestra. The 'button' mechanism is one I've never come across before: essentially all the trigger pads are incorporated into the final (rigid) page of the book, but you press a coloured circle on each preceding page, which aligns with the relevant trigger pad underneath the other pages. It sounds complicated but it isn't, it's a very simple experience, and I didn't have any trouble getting each circle to play. My only quibble is that I purchased two of these books (one as a Christmas gift), and one of them arrived without the plastic pull tab in the battery case that preserves the battery life until you remove it. The book still worked, but obviously it will not last as long as the one that still had the tab in it. For that reason I purchased spare batteries (they're low cost) to go with the gift book, and I recommend others do the same, just in case. :)

Wonderful book. Loved this so much so I bought two more. My granddaughter is intrigued by the music matching the story and has listened to it lots although we’re not allowed to play the music for the Mouse King because he’s bad!

This book is a Christmas present for my granddaughter. Wish these sort of books were around when I was a child,we didn’t have television in the 1940’s so we read a lot. Children today are so lucky to have a vast array of books. This book is great value for money,lovely pictures and a dip into classical music.

My kids age 5 and 2+ girl love it so much! Beautiful music to listen at every scene of story. Definitely a great book to read~
