HTC One (M8) 16GB 4G Grey - smartphones (Single SIM, Android, NanoSIM, GSM, HSDPA, LTE)

Received the phone yesterday. Spent about 4hours setting it up, I.e, music, email, news feeds personalising home screen and apps etc... So far so good. The phone did update apps and systems as well which took a while. During that time the battery did get very hot. Haven't experienced anything like that since then. The phone was delivered a day early in two bubble envelopes, which was a concern. Still it was not damaged, not that I can see. Also, there was no box, manuals, cables or otherwise. Having had this model previously, I had no problems with setting up and charged off my computer via USB. Still a manual could be useful for a user new to HTC. Will update this comment in about one month . Update: Nov 5th 2020 Well I've had this for a while now and set it up to my preference. I did notice that it would not go into sleep mode until I let the battery run completely down to zero. After that I turned it on to charge and that solved the problem. It works well and the battery only needs charging once every two days. It last longer if I turn on Extra power saving mode and if I use the apps continuously, it will run down faster. However, I have no complaints. One other thing, the Blink Feed will only run Twitter and YouTube or other information (alarms etc) on the phone. News republic does not work and I cannot add any other news channels to the blink feed. Though, I have found a work around by subscribing to BBC news on Twitter along with some other news sites. Now I get the news on Blink Feed. That is the only issue, but solved without much effort.

Fantastic purchase couldn't be happier with the phone! [Does have a little bit of bloatware but not unbearable] It's not worth the risk of Rooting at the moment. I have two recommendations if you do this phone: Firstly disable BlinkFeed, I don't really need to loads of articles [often of the same stories] and I doubt many people need that either. I can see the appeal for some people but I just don't need the distraction. Next up install Avast Free Mobile Security. It has some brilliant features, covering locking apps [Only two in the free version] to the incredibly useful SMS commands, if someone steals your phone you can use the website or whoever you put in as a friends phone. The commands range from LOCK [Adds a loud siren which can't be turned down, as well locking the screen which requires your avast pin to close or a message command from your friends phone.] To WIPE which completely wipes the phones data. A couple more interesting commands are preventing apps from being deleted [great one as they won't be able to delete avast very easily] to forcing a GPS or Mobile Data [Useful for finding your phone as a lot of people have these disabled to save power]. Another great feature is SMS on sim card change, this text will cost a very small amount money to send. You can disable this anti theft feature when you're installing a new sim and then you're friend won't get a text saying someone has change the sim in your phone. This one the most useful features as it's one of the first things a thief will do. My thanks go out to ELUXE UK STORE who I ordered from. I'm always a little wary of ordering from sellers on amazon rather than amazon directly but I'm very happy with my decision this time around. :-) SIDENOTE: By ordering this unlocked model of HTC ONE M8 you will be able to update it to lollipop 5.0.1! *Date 17/03/2015* :-)

The original was returned as it was not locking in GPS no matter what I did. The replacement was promised within 3 working days but took 5 and only after I called the vendor. The replacement was booted up and everything was in Chinese, so I guess that's where it came from. The previous one was American. At least this one could fix on GPS - which I only found out after managing to change the language. So 3 stars for finally getting me a machine that does what I want it to. Note also that both machines are rooted. Not what I expected and not mentioned in the sales pitch. Before used or new machines are sold, Amazon should insist on the country of origin of the item to better inform the buyer.

Nice phone but after two months it has developed a fault and FONE DEALER LTD do not want to replace it or fix it. I do not recommend any one to buy from this seller.

Very disappointed with the phone. First the volume buttons didn't work properly, then the protective screen foil started peeling off and the worst is that now after one month my phone decided not to function any more after auto updating. *Update I have contacted HTC customers services UK and they have discovered that my phone is from the USA so when updating the European software conflicted the American one so this is the reason why it is not working any more. The solution for that is to go to the HTC USA website download and reinstall the software from there. As a piece of advice, contact the seller and check the origin of the phone before purchasing it

Beautiful phone - Just sorry I didn't buy one of these a year ago - Music is everything to me - the best smartphone music player I have experienced (tried many iPhones, Samsung's, Nokia's, etc.) I crave loudness in my music and this delivers. Drives my Shure IEM headphones a treat. I rarely give 5 stars unless exceptional. Seller was quick to dispatch and it arrived in perfect condition - so thank you.

After having a negative experience from the Samsung s5 I chose the htc from previously owning the htc desire. Great phone. Quick to set up and use. Feels great and I love the attention to sleek detail.

Just love these phones. Dropped mine and got a different make but hated it. So glad to have HTC. Bit scary it was in Chinese but guessed words to change it.

Debo decir que hace años que deseo poseer un iPhone pero siempre me he echado atrás porque me parece escandaloso que se cobre por algo el doble de su precio real. Así, cuando salió a la venta el iPhone 5s y estando a punto de comprarlo opté por un HTC One de la primera serie M7, que es el primer teléfono del cual he podido decir estar plenamente satisfecho. A punto de salir el iPhone 6 estaba ya dispuesto a adquirirlo, pero cuando me enteré que habían sacado el teléfono con una gama inferior de pantalla, solamente para distinguirlo del 6 plus, pensé que nuevamente me estaban tomando el pelo y opté por el nuevo HTC One M8. Debo decir que estoy encantado de la decisión. La versión que enviaron parece ser la alemana por lo que podido comprobar con el servicio técnico de HTC es de lo cual estoy muy satisfecho, ya que la vez anterior me enviaron una versión latinoamericana (ningún problema con las actualizaciones solo que era 3G) La capa de usuario de HTC, sense, es estupenda, muy por encima de las de Samsung y Sony que son las que conocía. HTC cumple con sus clientes en el aspecto de actualizaciones y lo más importantes las actualizaciones son redondas no tienen bugs, funcionando perfectamente. El teléfono es muy cómodo para quien tenga una mano razonablemente grande como yo, y si funcionabas bien con el M7 seguirás haciéndolo con el M8 que apenas es más ancho, aunque si más largo. El mismo extraordinario acabado metálico que no tiene nada que envidiar al iPhone y la misma excelente calidad del sonido tanto externo cómo interno. Siempre ponen como pega la cámara del M8 pero a mi me parece más que razonable para un smartphone. Es cierto que 4 Mpx se quedan cortos si lo que deseas ampliar o recortar, pero para fotos casuales o para instagram es perfecta. En resumen, que el 26 de Septiembre, que se ponía a la venta el carísimo iPhone 6 con sus cutres 16 mg solo ampliables comprando un modelo mas caro, su cutre giga de ram, frente a dos del M8 y su cutre pantalla con cien puntos menos de resolución, recibía yo mi nuevo HTC One, del que estoy muy satisfecho por el momento. Addendum: Si dudais entre el M7 o el M8, acertaréis sea cual sea vuestra decisión: los dos son unos teléfonos excelentes.

Dopo 3 settimane posso dire che è il miglior acquisto che abbia mai fatto, inutile ripetere quello che hanno già scritto e che già si conosce su questo telefono uscito ormai da quasi un anno, quello che vi dico è che aperta la scatola c'è stato il cosi detto effetto wow, hanno curato i minimi particolari su questo smartphone, la scocca in alluminio è davvero eccezionale da veramente la sensazione di avere tra le mani un prodotto premium ma soprattutto di aver speso 540 euro per qualcosa che li vale. Parto dalla ricezione che è la cosa che più mi soddisfa, come termine di paragone uso il nexus 5 che avevo prima e il nokia e72, in garage con sim tim questi due perdevano il segnale One rimane con 2/3 tacche, il 4g va a meraviglia e anche il 3g l'audio in capsula forse non altissimo ma buono il vivavoce invece è superbo come pure l'audio dalle cuffie(ottime tra l'altro). Gli altoparlanti stereo con il famoso boomsound è qualcosa di incredibile e non dico altro. Il DISPLAY forse non è ottimizzato a livello di cornici ma ha una definizione e luminosità da primo della classe. La BATTERIA dura moltissimo considerando che è solo una 2600mah ma nella sense mancano le statistiche di batteria relative alle ore di schermo acceso bisogna scaricare un app dallo store. Completo a livello di connessioni. La vera chicca è il software, la sense è davvero un passo avanti, grande idea quella di blinkfeed ma soprattutto la velocità e fluidità di tutto il sistema dalla apertura app alla navigazione nella UI non ha pari nemmeno tra i nexus, davvero notevole secondo me il più veloce android del mercato e con il miglior broswer web. La FOTOCAMERA la trovo soddisfacente alterna delle bellissime foto ad alcune cosi cosi, velocissima nel punta e scatta e piena di effetti post-scatto ben integrati e realizzati. L'unico difetto che posso trovare è l'eccessiva delicatezza dovuta all'alluminio della scocca, consiglio sicuramente l'acquisto di una cover anche se già presente una in silicone nella scatola. Ha l'espansione tramite micro sd e permette lo spostamento di alcune app ma non quello relativo ai dati che rimangono sulla memoria del telefono problema dovuto a kitkat. Lo consiglio vivamente non ve ne pentirete. Arrivato in scatola sigillata oltre all'imballo fornito da Amazon. AGGIORNAMENTO Batteria: Riesco a superare le 5 ore di display acceso.

Hab das Gerät hier bei Amazon bestellt und nutze es seit Samstag. Hatte auch das M7(HTC One 2013) und war sehr begeistert davon. Seit Dez. nutze ich das iPhone 5S und wollte nun auf das M8 wechseln. Ich bin ein Fan von Metal/hochwertiger Verarbeitung und das bietet HTC bei seinen Premium-Modellen - das Sony Xperia Z1 ist zwar auch toll verarbeitet aber nicht so griffig - eher wie ne Tafel Schokolade - nun ist das HTC One M8 endlich bei mir eingetroffen - schon das auspacken ist klasse, überdurchschnittlich viel Packungsinhalt: Neben dem Gerät sind tolle Inears(Sound war mit denen auch im Vorjahr sehr gut), Lade-Datenkabel sowie eine Schutzhülle aus Silikon dabei. Verarbeitung: die Verarbeitungsqualität ist auf höchstem Niveau - keine Kratzer/unsaubere Kanten oder Spaltmasse, Lautstärke/On-OFF-Schalter haben wenig spiel und NANO-Sim/SD-Karten-Einschub sind präzise - rundum gelungen Haptik: das Gerät ist nochmals gewachsen zum Vorgänger, außerdem ist es schwerer geworden - man muss das Gerät selber in die Hand nehmen es ist sehr griffig/die Form ist perfekt(Ergonomie) - auch das Gewicht spielt keine Rolle/fühlt sich leichter an als es ist. Hardware/Software: schon immer hat mir die Oberfläche von HTC gefallen/nah an Vanilla-Android(NEXUS), wenig Müll(Apps von Drittanbieter), es wirkt sehr aufgeräumt/wenig Spielereien/sinnvolle Erweiterungen und es läuft absolut flüssig - die Hardware ist auf dem neusten stand der Technik so gehört sich das bei einem Superphone. Display: der Screen ist das absolute Highlight, ich hatte schon sehr viele Geräte aber das Super-LCD des M8 ist wieder konsequent weiter entwickelt worden - Gorillaglas 3 von Corning, sehr hell(auch bei direkter Sonneneinstrahlung), Kontrast/Farben/Blickwinkel sind auf höchstem Niveau - klasse HTC Akku: bisher kaum Erfahrungswerte habe es erst seit Samstag toll ist Quick Charge 2.0 damit Schaft man eine volle Akkuladung in unter einer Stunde das ist echt der Hammer NACHTRAG: man braucht aber ein anderes Netzteil mit dem beiliegenden geht es 2-2,5 Std. hat nur 1.5A - leider nicht wechselbar/ich Wechsel zwar meinen Akku nicht aber bei einem Akkudefekt muss das Gerät eingeschickt werden - Kamera: kontrovers Diskutiert wird die Kamera des HTC One - auch hier bisher wenig Erfahrung - aber soviel vorneweg für Schnappschüsse reicht es alle mal(mehr mache ich damit eh nicht) und für alles andere gibst die SLR-Kamera - OS: es läuft das Aktuelle Android 4.4.2 - bei den freien Geräten(sprich alle die nicht bei Provider gekauft wurden) gibt es schon ein Update von HTC das diverse Optimierungen vornimmt - Empfang/Sprachqualität: das telefonieren ist bei guter Netzabdeckung angenehm rauscharm/ohne große Verzerrungen - auch sonst ist mobiles Internet sehr flott/gerade bei einem Vollaluminium-Gehäuse wäre das fatal, daher existiert an der Kopfseite ein schwarzer Plastikstreifen(passt nahtlos ins Gehäuse) darunter befinden sich Antenne etc. im On/Off-Schalter gibts es wieder eine Infrarot-fernbedienung. Besonderes: Klasse finde ich die Gestensteuerung - (HTC nennt das Motion-Launch) wen das Display ausgeschalten ist - Doppeltip/li/re/oben/unten oder Seitlich streichen/gehalten öffnet man diverse Apps/Landet auf dem Homscreen, Blinkfeed oder die Kamera. Das alles ist dank dem hochsensiblem Display und dem Bewegungsprozessor möglich und funktioniert sehr zuverlässig - (ähnlich wie im iPhone 5S etc.) neben den Boomsound-Lautsprechern die wohl tollsten Funktionen Fazit: das HTC One ist ein geniales Premium-Highend-Smartphone und gehört zum aktuell besten was der Smartphonemarkt ergibt - wer auf eine hochwertige Verarbeitung, tolles Design, aktuelle Hardware und HTC Sense 6 mit 4.4.2 KitKat steht kann bedenkenlos zugreifen - PS: man muss es selbst mal in der Hand gehalten haben - das erste was einem kommt ist WOW -

Secondo me il miglior telefono android in circolazione, mai crashato, mai bloccato, lag inesistente. UNA SCHEGGIA!!! La fotocamera poi è a 4Mpixel (chiamata Ultra Pixel dalla casa produttrice per via della costruzione del sensore di pixel 2 um contro gli 1,4 dei sensori normali quindi un sensore più grande da parte di HTC con pochi Mpixel che corrisponde a foto molto più luminose di sera, dimensione sensore 1/3”, f/2, lenti da 28 mm), ha poi il sensore di profondità per gli smanettoni a cui piace applicare effetti di sfocatura, 3D ecc direttamente dal telefono)... Alla fine avere 40 Mpixel o 4 non servono a molto se le foto le vedete solo sul telefono o le mettete su FB, se le dovete stampare allora ben venga per i 40 Mpixel, altrimenti meglio una foto più luminosa di sera ;) AUDIO : Non troverete audio migliore su un altro telefono. Display : FULL HD, la visione sotto al sole è ottima anche se la luminosità non è al massimo. Registrazione video Full HD @60fps Batteria : Arrivi tranquillamente a tarda serata anche con un uso "pesante" del telefono, resta anche una buona % di carica per il giorno dopo. Esiste infine una custodia particolare che la vedrete solo su HTC ovvero la HTC Dot View, è davvero una bella trovata, io l'ho presa ed è molto utile visto che puoi rispondere e vedere notifiche anche con la custodia chiusa e poi lo stile minimalista 8bit è una figata :D ......ALLA FINE E' UNA BOMBA DI TELEFONO LO CONSIGLIO A TUTTI !!!

mein persönlicher Zwischenbericht nach 48 Stunden HTC One m8: Auf die Äußerlichkeiten und Hardware gehe ich jetzt mal nicht ein, dazu gibt es ja reichlich Reviews. Positiv aufgefallen, und das ist wirklich einer meiner Lieblingsaspekte, ist mir die ganze HTC UI. Sense 6 läuft unglaublich flüssig, nirgendwo gibt es auch nur ansatzweise Ruckler. Ich bin zwar so einiges gewohnt (im negativen Sinne), da ich von einem Galaxy s2 umsteige, aber man erlebt wirklich selten, dass Software so gut auf Hardware angepasst wird, vor allem außerhalb des Apfeluniversums. Mittlerweile nutze ich ständig den "kleinen" Energiesparmodus, die angeblichen CPU-Beschränkungen merkt man im Alltag nicht. Wirklich schlecht finde ich hingegen die mitgelieferten Kopfhörer. Das mag ja irgendwo verständlich sein, aber zu mehr als dem schnellen Telefonat sollte man die echt nicht benutzen. Das "Boomsound" Feature ist ebenfalls völliger Quatsch, es wird (für meine Ohren) der Bass lediglich maßlos übersteuert und die Höhen schneiden sich ins Gehirn. Das ganze bezieht sich natürlich nur auf die Wiedergabe via Kopfhörer (getestet mit einem B&O). Für ein Smartphone top ist hingegen die Musikwiedergabe mit den integrierten Lautsprechern. Der Sound ist ungefähr 10^27 mal so klar und ausgewogen wie bei Iphone (5)/Samsung (Note3). Ein weiterer Negativaspekt ist die mitgelieferte Hülle. Der Gedanke ist lobenswert und HTC ist meines Wissens nach auch der erste ders umsetzt, aber es gibt ein Problem: Die unten liegende Klinke und der USB werden von EINER umklappbaren Abdeckung geschützt, die sich nur schwer bewegen lässt. Beim einstöpseln diverser Kabel muss man also mit einer Hand diese Klappe nach hinten umbiegen und mit der anderen den Stecker reinstecken und Smartphone halten. Leichter gesagt als getan... Auch nervig finde ich die vielen HTC Apps. Das man beispielsweise den Kindermodus nicht deaktivieren kann (wird dauerhaft im Shutdownmenü angezeigt) oder HTC Backup sehr penetrant eingerichtet werden möchte, stört mich. Des weiteren erschließt sich mir die Funktion einiger in den Appeinstellungen aufgeführter Anwendungen nicht. Wofür braucht man "Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIN/Instagram für Sense"? Nach deaktiverung (hier möglich außer bei FB für Sense) hat man jedenfalls keine Einschränkungen. Cool ist hingegen, dass man von HTC 50GB Google Drive Platz bekommt (aber nicht reinfallen: die geforderte Google+ Registrierung während der Ersteinrichtung kann man sich durch späteres Einlösen innerhalb der Einstellungen sparen!). Jedoch findet sich fortan im Google Konto unter Konten und Synchronisieren der Punkt Drive und Mygoogledrive. Den Unterschied verstehe ich nicht und Mygoogledrive verschwindet auch wieder nach einer Deaktivierung der gleichnamigen App. Die Kamera ist für mich ohne aktuellen Vergleich schwer zu bewerten, die Fotos sind allerdings allemal in Ordnung und bei weitem kein K.O. Kriterium, wenn man nicht auf Din A2 drucken möchte. Cool ist die Zeitlupenfunktion (100 fps, 120fps ?), die mit der eines Iphone mithalten kann. Der jedoch größte Kritikpunkt ist allerdings: Der von mir nicht genutzte und deaktivierte Blinkfeed (auch nicht eingerichtet, sprich keine Inhalte eingestellt) frisst fleißig Akku. Über den Tag verliert man so laut Anzeige ca 15% für nichts, da sich die App anscheinend trotzdem im Hintergrund immer wieder meldet. Die Lösung wäre, den Blinkfeed nicht nur ausblendbar, sondern deaktivierbar zu machen (aktuell nur mit Rom). wenn ich noch was austesten soll, kommentiert hier einfach, denn insgesamt ist das M8 dieses Jahr garantiert eins der besten Smartphones ;)
