Legion Casein+ Micellar Casein Protein Powder, Cinnamon Cereal, Grass-Fed

I got used to having Casein pudding at the end of the day when I was doing an RP diet in the past. I used to use Optimum Gold Standard and it was fine, but the chocolate had a weird taste that I eventually got used to and figured that was as good as it gets. Now years later I am back and became familiar with Legion from using their pre workout and their post workout forumulas. What I really like is that the marketing does match what their products are. They don't have as many random ingredients with questionable data behind them and are more simple. Some people look at that as a negative but I would rather use quality products that are intentionally designed than the kitchen sink ones. So coming to Casein, it takes getting used to. You have to mix it up kind of like pancake batter. Get the lumps out, and mix as well as you can. The taste of these (I bought this Cinnamon one and the Chocolate) is basic. It is good tasting with no weird aftertaste but at the same time is not super sweet like the Optimum which for some people would be a negative. I bought the Cinnamon all the way thinking I would end up returning it after trying but I am keeping it. I was hoping it would be a cereal like experience but it is not. I would call it more of a non sweet cinnamon bun vibe. I really am enjoying it and Legion once again has me as a customer here as long as they stick to their design principles

I love this flavor of legion protein! It’s a tried and true fav! While the texture is different than the whey+ it still mixes super well & Also great value for the money!

If zero stars was an option, I would. The product was put in following direction. 8-10oz of water to 1 scoop. The powder immediately bulked up and ad to keep adding more water as the drink was so thick it didn't move. Even adding more water, the drink would thicken right back up. The flavor smelt amazing, the taste was awful, chalk like. Did not taste anything like it smelt. Not only was it so thick you couldn't drink it, but the flavor was so far off you couldn't drink it. I am sad because of the reviews I read but something wasn't right here. Beware of this as you cannot return/refund the product once opened and this was not cheap. Now we have a whole bag of protein we will not be using. sad.

Below is my review of this product over the last 2.5 years. I believe however that something has changed in 2026 and I will elaborate at the end of the review. I've tried a bunch of other Casein products and I think Legion does it the best by offering a wider variety of flavor options and having a good amount of protein in it. However, there is one caveat and it's what liquid base you use for your protein shake. I ordered the Chocolate flavor a long time ago when I was still mixing my shakes with water and it tasted absolutely terrible. I begrudgingly finished that bag and quickly moved on to another brand. I eventually started to use oat milk for my shakes instead and soon came back to this brand's Strawberry flavor on a whim where I was extremely satisfied at how the two came together. There was also one desperate night where I ran out of oat milk, substituted it with water, and reconfirmed that this product absolutely should not be mixed with water. 1/5 with water, 3/5 with whole milk, 5/5 with oat milk. Overall, 4 stars ******UPDATE March 2026 I recently ordered the Cinnamon Cereal now that the Strawberry option is gone on Amazon and it tastes alright but doesn't quite match up with cinnamon toast crunch. However, it seems the price of these have gone up, but the quantity per bag has gone down AND the protein amount has dropped too across the board. Did the formulation change this year? I unfortunately have to drop my score as now the only thing left going for the product is the flavor.

At first I was worried since the scoop was double the size of the birthday cake flavor. I mixed it with yogurt like I’m used to with other powders but this one ran thick. I added soy milk to make it a bit more smooth. It tasted like a cinnamon sugar cookie. I like it, I think I like the birthday cake consistency a bit more when it comes to mixing it with yogurt. They both are delicious flavors. The cinnamon roll is a bit too dense for me as a shake. It can only be in the blender a second or it’s all foam which upsets my stomach. Otherwise if I get it just right it’s still very heavy for me and collects at the bottom like sand. The birthday cake flavor which is not casein is lighter and still can get foamy if in the blender for too long but not nearly as gritty in a shake or nearly as heavy. I am a small gal with a weak stomach though, so keep that in mind! The flavors are amazing, the cinnamon roll and birthday cake flavors are delicious.

I have always used either chocolate or vanilla, but decided to try something different. I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor of the cinnamon cereal variety, and have re-ordered it. The Banana bread one, not so much, although it is palatable. Strawberry tasted 'ok' but sort of artificial. I highly recommend the Cinnamon flavored casein. I just ordered the Dutch chocolate and will review it at a later date.

I really love the texture of this powder. It’s hard to explain but it’s really smooth, not gritty. So it blends really easily and the taste is incredibly good. Huge bag filled almost to the top, high quality ingredients.

Hands down my favorite protein powder. Perfect for using in my hot or cold coffee as a sweet creamer in the morning, or with a little cacao and hot water for a nighttime hot cocoa.
