I bought these mostly for moving my daughter, using them for clothes, bedding, and stuffed animals. The plastic feels thicker than other brands (Ahem SpaceBag and Magic Bag) I've purchased in the past that never seemed to hold their seal. Out of the ones we used, one jumbo bag split open, though that was likely due to rough handling or a sharp edge in the car trunk. A few others didn't hold the vacuum long-term, but looking back, those were the bags where the clothing wasn't packed flat—just pushed in—and stuffed so full it was difficult to pull the seals together. Even those failed bags held their vacuum for several days until moving day, though. Care in packing and moving makes a huge difference; the bags that were packed carefully and placed inside heavy-duty extra-large moving bags stayed completely deflated during the trip, and remained sealed for a couple of days after the move. I chose the moving bags purposely because they fit perfectly under her 18" bed frame for out-of-sight storage, so they provide use past the moving date. I highly recommend saving the jumbo vacuum bags for fluffier items like pillows or comforters rather than packing them with heavy clothing, as the sheer weight can strain the seals. Also, definitely fold your items as flat as possible before sealing. Otherwise, you end up with a lumpy, misshapen brick that is impossible to stack well. If it is hard to close the zip-seals, it is simply too full. The variety of sizes is great; the medium bag fits perfectly inside our large carry-on suitcase for travel. To close them, the bags feature a double zip-seal. The included plastic slider clips do pop off easily, but it wasn't too difficult to just use my fingers to seal one strip at a time. I also double-checked after using the slider, as it didn't always seem to seal both zips and would sometimes catch on the plastic. However, because of that extra effort, it might be difficult to seal for someone with limited finger strength or arthritis. For removing the air, the included hand pump does a good job, but it is definitely a workout. It is nice that it screws in, so you don't lose your seal while pumping. Our shop vac didn't remove any more air than the pump, but it was lightyears faster and easier. As other reviewers have noted, I wouldn't use a standard household vacuum for this, as they don't handle the restricted airflow well. The hand pump would be great for traveling, though, because it is light and doesn't take up much space. Overall, a great, thick option for a big move if you take your time packing them! It keeps your items organized, clean, and easy to carry. And if Amazon is watching, carry handles would make this item 6 stars.

These Amazon Basics Vacuum Seal Bags appear to be of high quality. They look and feel remarkably similar to the SpaceSaver bags of yore. Heavy Duty plastic - check. Quality slider - check. Instructions printed on bag with a line to not go past when filling - check. You get a generous amount of them for a fair price as well. I’ve already started using them and overall they appear to deliver the goods. But, there does seem to be a quality control issue with the small size bags. 3 out of 5 of those I’ve used so far have failed. They were all VERY hard to open up for first use, and one of the bags tore at the very top right along the blue sealing strips. Into the trash with that one. The other two I successfully filled. Not overstuffed in anyway. Yet both will not hold the seal and both have re-inflated with air. All the other sizes I’ve used thus far are holding up like champs though. And I let them sit overnight to make sure the seals held. I would definitely buy these again and recommend them to others. I also had purchased quite a few from a different vendor and that was a completely different experience. So well done, Amazon! If the small bags had held their seal I would have given 5 stars.

These bags are amazing, because prior to this I would use a resealable gallon size bag and move the air out with a drinking straw….because that is how I packed my clothes for traveling for 20 years. But these bags offer a whole new array of possibilities. I bought them to store clothes that need to be in location with abrupt temperature changes. The seal zipper mechanism is fool proof, and an air pump is provided with the bags. Alternatively, you could use the vacuum cleaner hose (canister or shop vac) that would really shorten the pumping air out. You can really achieve an airless, vacuum packed environment just with the pump. The bags are various sizes, but on the large capacity side. The larger size, will fit a king size comforter. I used a medium bag for the full/queen size feathers comforter. These bags store and protect your seasonal beddings and is a great idea to save room in closet by rotating items seasonally. The price in relationship to quality and versatility of use is excellent .

I absolutely love these bags. They size choices of the package I ordered is wonderful. I have some gigantic bags and even the smallest ones were excellent for my evening gowns and my daughter in law's wedding dress. They suck the air out really easily with the screw on pump. I sat in my couch and filled the bags, sealed them and used the pump to get them nice and airtight. No leaks, no bad seals. I am super happy with my purchase of these bags. I still have plenty for my guest room extra bedding and my down comforters and extra pillows. I try to always have extra bags around for season changes of blankets too. The price is great for what you receive. Very satisfied with the quality of these vacuum storage bags. Excellent suction as long as you hold the spout a little bit away from the item inside to give you an unobstructed pathway for removing the air. I find the best way to remove the air is to adjust the bag edges and remove wrinkles from the bag as you remove air. Keep the wrinkles to a minimum and the edges straight, then when you stack your items they lay or store we'll.

Just got these today and used them to pack up a bunch of clothes. I was surprised at how easy they were to use. The hand pump honestly isn’t great—it takes forever. Way easier to just use a vacuum. Once I hooked up the vacuum, they sealed up quickly and compressed everything down really well. They saved a ton of space and made storage a lot easier. They’ve stayed sealed so far and seem like really solid, impressive bags. Definitely worth it.

Brought the 20 pack. Huge sizes. Good price. Just got them yesterday. 1 day delivery. I’ve used 2 of them so far. Seals great. As long as you follow the directions & treat them right, they are just as good as the expensive ones. Pump works ok but you can also use your vacuum ,softly. Going to order 2 more sets for my kids.
