Impressive
Meaco is in my opinion the best in dehumidifiers this is my favourite one because it heats your home aswel as drys laundry its it takes about 2 hours tops to dry full set of laundry but you have to make sure its in the right direction blowing once in the right direction it then does brilliantly its very fast at getting humidity down in a 1 bedroom flat you can also control the dehumidifier via the meaco app from anywhere just connect it to your WiFi then you can control it no matter where you are very handy features if choosing a dehumidifier and your flat is cold this machine will heat it up in no time aswel as dry your home and feel much more comfortable inside your home it has an automatic mode which is the best to leave on it detects if it needs to go on low medium or high you dont need it on 24 hours a day only from time to time when having bath or shower or the home is feeling little cold or if you need to quickly dry some things I recommend this also the customer service team at meaco are very very helpful any issues you get warranty and they make sure to repair even arrange collection and return to your home once fixed so definitely recommend this brand above any others

Wow - What a machine!
This has been an absolute amazing buy for our conservatory with often suffered with high humidity and occasional mould on the pvc ceiling, more so as in winter months we usually dry washing in there. We made sure first to thoroughly bleach clean the areas of mould away, then popped the machine on. It comes with a decent length of cord, and good size water catcher. The machine can be moved freely between rooms with its robust integrated handle and is not too heavy, just remember to empty water first to keep it lighter. Free standing it sits happily in the corner of the room, and isn’t too noisy and happily goes about its business. When your selected humidity level is reached the machine will drop into stand by mode, then restart back up when humidity rises and just repeats the process until the water tank is full upon which you empty and repeat. The manual is clear and operation is via a touch button console and very easy to use. The amount of water it draws is amazing and needless to say the conservatory no longer has any damp areas or signs of returning mould. The laundry function is a godsend for those who don’t have the facility to dry outdoors or in a drier, this function not only keeps your humidity down to acceptable levels but also dries a good full wash in a matter of hours. Low running costs and a simple ‘plug and leave’ machine, save the 2 minutes it takes to empty (it’s a pull draw at the base of the unit… pull, empty and replace) we couldn’t recommend this enough. Our only minor and it’s minimal is sometimes it can emit a slightly pungent burning smell, this is normal and is part of the cycling process but this is an in-frequent occurrence and is referenced in the manual so don’t be alarmed it’s about to blow up! Easy instructions, good warranty included.

Nice dehumidifier, simple but so far effective.

Expensive To Run But Very Effective
Having never owned a dehumidifier I wasn't really sure what to expect with this. If you believe the marketing videos on Youtube you'd think this was an extremely quiet, dirt cheap to run bit of kit that was going to dry out your whole house. The reality is a little different, not a whole lot but a little. I started of having this in the hall and running it on medium power it was on for 8 days straight before it began to cycle on and off - target humidity of 50% was reached. We have a bog standard 90's built 3 bed semi by the way. Using a weather station I could monitor the humidity in different rooms and found the average downstairs to be about 53%, upstairs was around 55%. The hallway was 50%. I'd hate to think what the figures were before we had this running 8 days non stop. After a couple of weeks it became pretty clear that there was an issue because rather than cycling on and off it seemed to still be running the majority of the day without the humidity in the rest of the house dropping, I came to the conclusion that having this so close to the front door wasn't a great idea and we were probably drying half the street. It was moved to the landing upstairs. On the landing it operates much more how I would expect, running for a few hours each day in order to keep the humidity in all the bedrooms/bathroom to about 50-51%. Downstairs the figure hovers around 54-55% so not bad but the Meaco isn't reducing humidity in the whole house down to its set level. This isn't a big house and I'm careful to leave the doors open during the day for airflow. The other thing is that if you try running it in the lowest fan setting eco mode then it's a waste of time. At that setting ours will run 20+ hours a day. On the standard setting the unit is too noisy to have in the same room as you, at night when trying to sleep it is a noticeable hum but you will get used to it. The final thing is the cost. I don't know how this compares to other dehumidifiers but where we live we pay about 15.7 pence per unit for electricity. Now this has bedded down and is running as expected it has added about an extra 50p a day on to our electricity bill, or about £45 a quarter (according to our Owl energy monitor). I haven't had the bill yet from when we first bought it but including the initial running in period and then the few weeks where we were drying the street I'm expecting it be a bit of a record breaker. Overall then despite a bit of whinging about it not being what I would call cheap, nor the fact that it is capable of reducing the humidity in our whole house down to its target level I still think this has been a very good buy. The humidity level in the house is much reduced, we no longer get any condensation on any windows and generally the house has felt much warmer.

Very good start
Purchased this to make our Orangery more pleasant this time of year, average 90%+ humidity. I’ve not used a dehumidifier for over 30 years and my how things have changed! It’s only been working for three days and it’s fantastic, humidity around 60% which is ideal for my plants and such a compact unit. Early days I know, but a very good start. Will update

So far So Good
I previously owned a Meaco DD8L which has lasted over a decade with fairly regular use as a laundry drier. Unfortunately, this winter it gave up the ghost and a replacement was needed. After much research and almost opting for a direct replacement, I went for the upgrade - the Zambezi. I knew I needed a desiccant model as it's not mega warm in this house so a condenser would struggle. Well, it's larger than the previous one and the digital control board is a bit clunky but not hard to fathom. I worry about the navigation buttons which click ominously at each press (suggesting mechanical wearing). It has a splendid handle to move it about and I don't find it heavy. It is quieter that the previous one too - but there is an inevitable whooshing from the fan. I read other people's reviews - and I am concerned whether I will suddenly get "The Death Code", (C1) but so far it seems to be behaving itself. I hope I'm not being premature. It works! I mean it is pretty good at sucking out the moisture from the air. I had it on for a couple of hours and it palpably bought the humidity down, I could feel the house was drier. (Boiler out of action at the moment). It dries a horse-full of laundry in two to three hours, and I especially like the directional flap that waves the warm air about (an optional setting). I think that feature alone makes it more efficient re laundry drying. The draw is a tad awkward to reposition, but no problems about emptying it. It has "clever" stuff programmed in - so yes it doesn't just switch off - it cools itself down for a few minutes (says so in the manual). I had it in the bathroom for a while, and it seemed to be working even though its readout said the humidity was below the level I had set. However, the manual does say it will wake up and test the humidity - so maybe I caught it in one of those cycles? I've given it the benefit of the doubt. After two weeks - I am happy with it. I got it at a good price - £233 ( about time I got lucky! ) but at the time of writing it's £289 so...... I think good value at £233. My partner bought a Meaco condenser type - but as he is being careful with the heating - the thing keeps stopping to defrost itself. - Moral - if your house is cold - buy a desiccant. All in all - and so far - I think this is a good buy. I reserve the right to come back and rubbish it if it suddenly fails :-)

Meaco DD8L De-Humidifer - Great Product!!
The delivery of this product ordered direct from Meaco, was fast and very efficient. It was well packaged, and very simple to set up and use. Just basically plug in and go. We decided to purchase this product based on the fact that family members had owned for several years a Meaco de-humidifer which worked great. We have recently moved to a bungalow, which is incredibly well insulated and has been suffering a lot from condensation on the inside of the windows, especially on these cold mornings we are having. Our bedroom is the worst, first thing in the morning when we get up the window is soaked. I know opening windows is an option, but not such a good one when it's freezing outside. We decided to invest in a de-humidifer, but which one?, there is so many on the market. We knew Meaco was a good make, and initially purchased a normal compressor dehumidifer made by Meaco, it worked perfectly but seemed to make the room cold. We thought that it would make the room warmer, but all it did was blow the air around making a draft. It definitely removed the moisture from the air, but we wanted one that warmed the air too. We did a bit of digging and found we should have bought a 'Desiccant' model, not a Compressor. the desiccant model warms the air as well as removing the moisture. They are slightly more expensive but are so much better in my opinion. We contacted Meaco direct through their contact details on the Amazon page and we explained our predicament and asked if we could swap the unit for the model above which is a desiccant de-humidifer. The chap said yes no problem, "you must re-package the one you have now in all its original packaging and box". He said the Delivery driver would bring our new De-humidifer and take the one we have now away at the same time, so basically a swap, we just paid the difference in price between the cost of the two units. True to his word the driver came 2 days later and brought us the DD8L Meaco model......it was fantastic service from Meaco, especially considering it was our mistake in the first place buying the wrong one. The DD8L is a great little machine, and it does exactly what it says it does, and it warms the air too - fantastic. There is not a day that goes by in autumn and winter when we haven't used it. We no longer have any condensation issues, unless I have been cooking and forgotten to switch it on. We keep it in the kitchen most of the time, and I flick it on when I am cooking, especially pasta, potatoes etc which causes a lot of steam, and our hob extractor is not the greatest. When we first purchased the machine we had it running most of the day, just until it removed the moisture problem that we had, however now we find it's only necessary to switch it on once a day for a while. The cost of running the unit is negligible really, especially as it acts like a little heater too. It's not instant heat, but after a while it definitely takes the chill off on a cold morning or afternoon. The other great feature of the DD8L is the clothes drying option. We don't have a tumble drier we find the Meaco works great, we put the clothes on an airer, and set the unit going in the smallest room we have. It takes it a while but it definitely dries your clothes no problem. It has two other settings too, and it automatically cuts off when the humidity level is reached, so it will not keep running and running. The water holding tank is a good size, plus you have the option, and the pipe to attach, to allow it to run into a drain if you need that option. We have loaned it out to family members after they have had a water leak, and I have to say I missed my little Meaco when it was away. After a few days our condensation was back, and I was desperately in need of its return. A great product that I wouldn't be without, we should have bought one years ago. As for the company Meaco, they are spot on and I would definitely recommend both them and this product.

DD8L PRO - worse than our old Meaco compressor despite temperatures of 13-15 degrees
DD8L PRO £259 JAN 2026 - looks smart, but it’s no better than our old Meaco compressor dehumidifier. In fact it is collecting less, while sitting on a high setting and costing far more. In temperatures around 13-15 degrees. I had high hopes but I’ll have to return it - and It looks like I’m not the only person. Meaco I think are hiding the poor reviews by relying on a variation advert that averages out their older better models
