Ember Sliding Lid, Splash-Proof Mug Lid Compatible with First and Second Generation 10oz Ember Mugs

Wanted this lid for my Ember mug and finally decided to buy it. It fits the mug perfectly and is easy to get on and off. It’s truly a game changer for keeping the contents hot and has eliminated the “coffee skin” problem I noticed before. Yesterday I nursed a cup of coffee for several hours and it stayed drinkable with no formation of that nasty “skin” which happens pretty quickly if you use creamer and have an uncovered Ember mug. I consider this lid a big improvement over the mug alone! Definitely recommend getting it for your Ember mug.

I love my Ember mug, but I always felt like the heat escaped too quickly from the top. This sliding lid is the perfect fix. It fits both my 10 oz Gen 1 and Gen 2 mugs perfectly. Pros: Better Battery Life: Since the lid keeps the heat in, the mug's heating element doesn't have to work nearly as hard. I’ve noticed my battery lasts about 20-30% longer now. Splash-Proof: It’s great for walking around the house or office. It won't survive being turned upside down, but it stops the "slosh" perfectly. Easy to Clean: The slider pops off easily so you can clean underneath it—no hidden mold issues. Cons: It’s a bit pricey for a lid, but for the convenience, it’s worth it.

The lid really extends the life of the charge. Using the lid, I always get 2 cups out of each charge. Sometimes, I have gotten 3.

This lid is a great addition to the Ember coffee mug. It helps keep the coffee warm even longer, and it prevents a thin film (or scum) from forming on the surface of the coffee. That film was very bothersome until I discovered that this lid does the trick. The only reason I did not leave 5 stars is because the listing on Amazon is somewhat misleading. It says that three different colors of sliders come with this lid (black, red, white). They did not. Just the black one. Amazon just indicated I should contact Ember, and Ember told me to take it up with Amazon. I was caught in the middle with no resolution. Otherwise, I am a happy customer.

Generally speaking, I personally don’t really like drinking through a lid. I find it too much like a child’s “sippy cup”. Well, this is the exception if there ever was one. When you’ve got a limited amount of energy in the Ember mug to keep heating the coffee to your ideal temperature, you want the power to last as long as possible. That’s where this little thing comes in very handy. When placed on the top of the Ember mug immediately after filling it, the energy keeps heating the coffee for considerably longer than when the heat continuously and freely escapes into thin air. Far less frequent heating activity by the heater in the cup means it can do it for a lot more time. This lid should be included with every Ember mug from the start.

This is really a worth while investment for the Ember Mug. It does increase the battery life as the heat does not escape versus not having a cover. Some may say it's expensive but I think it pays for itself. It is very easy to use although washing the insulation rubber can be a pain (small issue). It does what it says it's supposed to do, keep my drink longer and also from spilling. It also looks great! I mean it's transparent right? so you can see how much drink is left and what's in it.

Good fit but terribly expensive.... UPDATE - A month later, I note small cracks developing coming from the vent hole toward the slide and toward the rim. I guess the heat and compression forces cause the cracking. I’ll be happy if they don’t progress.

I absolutely love my Ember Mug but I always found the battery life to be somewhat lacking. A friend suggested I get the sliding lid for it to increase my battery life. He was 100% right because adding this sliding splash-proof lid literally doubles the battery life of the ember mug. Its amazing! Since getting the lid I get a lot more use out of my mug and have even brought it in the car as the lid stops any spills. The sliding mechanism feels smooth and secure and its super easy to open with one hand, and it creates a good seal when closed, keeping the heat locked in. If you have an ember mug I feel this is a must have.

Optimal passend für die Embertasse und verlängert die Warmhaltezeit enorm. Man sollte aber erst die Meldung der richtigen Temperatur abwarten, sonst wird‘s, wie auch beim Coffee-to-Go, bei dem kleinen Trinkschlitz schnell zu heiß.
