Cambro Camwear Polycarbonate Square Food Storage container, 18 Quart

Don't know why I waited so long to get one.Years ago when I started to brine meats, I would buy large zip top plastic bags, hope they did not leak (from anywhere) and set them in a pan in them fridge. Then I would have to throw them away when done.Finally I gave in and bout two of these and they are so useful and convenient.Have had these for about 5 months now and they are holding up well.I bought:Cambro (SFC6451) Lid for 6 & 8 qt Camsquares®Cambro Camwear Polycarbonate Square Food Storage Container, 8 Quart (This does not come with a lid)Cambro 6SFSCW135 Camsquare Food Container, 6-Quart, Polycarbonate, Clear, NSFAt the time I bough these they did not come with Lids so I bought 2. I highly recommend them.So far the 6 quart has seen at least 10 salt / sugar brines with misc spices for Whole Chickens, Boneless Pork Chops, and a Small Boston Butt.I will put about 2 quarts of cold water and ice cubes in the Food Container then use about 2 cups of water on the stove to dissolve the brine mixture. I then pour the hot brine mixture into the Food Container and mix well. The the Hot /Cold combination has not been an issue. Once the temp settles, I then put my item(s) to be brined in and add additional water if needed to cover. Then into the refrigerator.Have not put boiling hot water / liquids directly in an empty container so not sure how it would react.The containers are large enough that there is usually extra room at top if you need to put a weight in to hold down your items.The container cleans up easily with some liquid detergent and a soft sponge.The 6 & 8 quart units I bought do nest well for storage yet due to the slightly larger top section and tapper design, they do not sit fully down in one another.I can see many other uses for food prep & short term storage.If I had a need for more I would not hesitate to buy more of them.

I purchased this for use with my clamp on sous vide and it works very well. The plastic is very thick and it is very sturdy. I don't have and concerns while I'm use and full of water.I found out that it also works real well to soak whole ears of corn.The price that I paid for it made it a great value.

This is perfect for my sourdough bulk fermenting. It fits two loaves well.

Using this primarily as a sous vide/immersion circulator container. The dimensions are good and you don’t need to fill it up all the way with water to get things going, although if you need the total volume this can hold then that space is there.It’s actually quite sturdy yet surprisingly light. This is supposed to be commercial grade and many kitchens across the world use Cambros. The only puzzling thing is that this is not BPA-free so I’m not sure how safe it is in terms of food coming into direct contact with this. But for my use case I don’t see it being a problem, but it might for someone else so I thought this was worth mentioning.

Very sturdy, very well made, Cambro is always quality stuff.But nothing on the Amazon product description mentioned that these contain BPA, which kind of nixes my intended use for these... If BPA is a concern for you (it should if you're using it for food), then get Cambro's polyethylene containers which are BPA-free.So now I'll use this container for non-food storage...

I'm not using this container for storage but as a sous vide tank. Works great for my application and costs far less than products sold for that stated purpose.

I have seen this type of food container used by sourdough bakers and I was eager to try one out. I am pleased with the durability of the container and I am sure it will last a long time. The square shape makes it easier to fit in the fridge and the markings on the side of the container makes it easier to judge the change in volume of bread.

Bought to use for my sourdough and works great!

Its perfect for calculating when the sourdough or yeast bread has risen enough, except that it would be even better if the sides were straight. This would give a more accurate result.

"necessario" come concetto imperativo: senza coperchio questo contenitore, per quanto di ottima fattura, è essenzialmente inutile. acquistato di seconda mano in "condizioni accettabili" ad una frazione del costo, avrebbe dovuto presentare "importanti graffi e segni d'utilizzo", ma non è possibile vederne sull'oggetto, è praticamente nuovo. ottima fattura, costruzione solida, lavabile in lavastoviglie. troppo costoso a prezzo pieno, sorprendente come non vi siano alternative europee e si preferisca importare i cambro dagli usa
