I’m really impressed with this caliper. It feels very well made with durable materials not flimsy at all. It measures in mm, inches, and fractions, which is super useful depending on the project. Very nice, well built caliper. Feels solid and operates very smoothly with readings in your choice of mm, decimal inches or fractional, making it very useful for machine work as well as woodworking or any application in which a fractional result is preferred. Uses readily available button batteries and includes two, along with a small screwdriver for changing them. An adequate plastic storage case is also provided. My senior brain wishes it had fractional rounding capability, to sixteenths, eighths etc.

What a great value! I have been an automotive technician for over 20 years and this digital caliper is hands down better then any caliper that I could purchase on one of the tool trucks. The functionality obviously works the same but as you slide it to make measurements, it moves very smoothly. I compared it to two other calipers at my shop that are from the tool trucks and the measurements are identical. It is fairly lightweight and the display is well lit. It came with a battery installed and an extra as well. I was surprised to find that it also came with a precision screw driver for battery replacement and an 8” stainless steel ruler. This is a great tool. I will definitely be ordering a 4” & 6” digital caliper from Hardell to add to my tool collection at home.

This is a solid good basic digital caliper. It is easy to use and most importantly appears to be accurate and repeatable. It comes with a no frills plastic rotomolded case that protects the calipers. It also includes a micro screw driver to remove the crews retaining the cover over the replaceable battery. It uses one AG13/LR44 battery and comes with 2 new sealed batteries. The 3 buttons include: - mm / inch - Simply toggle between mm and inches. The resolution is 1/100th of a mm and 1/2000th of an inch. - On / Off - The power actually comes on when you open the jaws. It also has an auto-off so it turns off after not moving the jaws for 5 minutes. Or just use the button to turn it on or off. - Zero - Press to zero out the display so not only can you reset the measurement to zero with the jaws closed, but with the jaws opening, you can get difference measurements, since the display will show negative values after zeroing the display with the jaws open, when closing the jaws. The numbers on the LCD display are large and easy to read. The decimal point however is tiny and you are bvetter served by learning to know where it appears, since that is consistent for mm and separately for in measurements. There is also no backlight for the LCD, but this is to be expected on a basic caliper. The lock holds the measurement in place with no noticeable rocking. The case, while, doing the job of protecting the caliper, is the least functional part of the package. While it protects the caliper, the included screw driver does not stay in the compartment which appears to have been designed for it, so it rolls around the case. Although there are places for an unsealed battery to sit in the case, I am certain that if I put an unsealed battery in one of those compartments, I would lose it every time that I open the case. On the bright side, I made some modifications to the case and they work like a champ. I drilled a small home in the left-most end of the compartment for the screw driver, so the shaft of the screw driver is now retained firmly. Also, in the center of the case, in the same screw driver compartment, I cut a slot so a sealed replacement battery with cardboard backing can sit securely in the slot and not fall out. All-in-all, a quality basic product.
