Art Record Covers

Purchased as a gift for my Beatle-loving-Bro-in-law. It arrived quickly and in good condition. I didn't get to open and look because it was a gift, but he loved it! Perfect heavy quality for a coffee table book.

A good overview and a bit of history on some lesser known record covers. Great pics, easy to read, definite conversation starter.

This is an excellent book covering the emergence of vinyl record cover art as legitimate, collectable art. This is not encyclopedic in nature, but covers a large number of artists whose work has appeared on vinyl record covers. As vinyl collecting explodes among new fans, this is a nice reminder of how important the association of music and visual art has been since the late 1940s. I wish this had gone deeper in depth about some of the prolific artists like Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, but this is a great educational tool that you can use as a start, before checking out other record cover art books and websites.

The size of the book and quality production are great as Taschen’s books generally are. That’s where it ends though. The cover causes the assumption that you are going to see a collection of THE BEST in album cover art, when in reality, what you will find is a collection of politicized graphics that are almost wholly visually uninteresting. There are a few classics scattered in there like Sgt Pepper, but these are almost without exception, covers that would have caused me to pass over purchasing an album. NOT recommended.

Copertina rigida, carta spessa e di grande qualità per le stampe. Il layout è perfetto, si vede che l'edizione è molto curata come in effetti quasi sempre avviene con Taschen. Abbiamo trovato tante informazioni di cui non eravamo al corrente e ne troveremo ancora tante altre dal momento che con la lettura siamo ancora soltanto alle prime pagine. Si fa sfogliare molto volentieri e quando non lo utilizziamo dà un tocco molto bello alla libreria. La rilegatura è fatta molto bene, un libro che se tenuto con le dovute maniere durerà molto a lungo. In conclusione, lo consiglio senza dubbio. Attenzione: questa versione è soltanto in inglese, francese e tedesco. Non ci sono testi in italiano. La spedizione è stata molto veloce, un solo giorno lavorativo grazie al Prime. Spero di essere stato utile.
